I'm working on THIS too, don't push me Ironside! All good things take time.

Re: # 67 Mrs. Qureshi,
"I don't feel I need to prove the strength of my ties to Islam to you or be judged by you for that."
My favourite area of interest is monitoring the Islam-bashers and the filth that is allowed to hit the fan by many ex-patriots. THIS attitude is despicable and needs to be condemned. ChowQ folks allows such non-stop attacks despite my numerous complaints.
"Also I think Ras was really just paying you a harmless compliment. Why is being a movie reviewer disdainful, now?"
I know Ras when he pays me a compliment; I wasn't born yestreday you know! Do note his remarks when I satirized the policies of Untidy Satans! (Read #10: http://www.chowk.com/interacts/5985)
These days many grown men spend too much time glued to their plasma TVs; what else can they write about except Hollywood filth?
"The 'Amreekan' book of dreams is out of print these days."
Because all the previous copies were purchased by the government of the Untidy Satans!
Regards.

I didn't side with anyone, Mr. Tahir. I'm sorry that you feel that way; however, I don't feel I need to prove the strength of my ties to Islam to you or be judged by you for that.
Also I think Ras was really just paying you a harmless compliment. Why is being a movie reviewer disdainful, now?

Mrs. Qureshi,
What's disdainful about using 'Mrs.'? Its better than saying 'hey Madiha'! Its far more respectful considering you present status.
You don't know half the story when you side with Islam-bashers on ChowQ. In a foreign land, religion will bring salvation, not Bombay Biryani or Haleem.
And don't listen to Mr. Ras Siddiqui 'the movie reviewer'. He can't decide whether he should hate me or love me; sometimes he does both simultaneously! What a wonderful world!
The things I say will eventually mean something someday to you. Keep your mind open and the 'Amreekan' book of dreams closed.
Regards.

Madiha,
thank u so much for your honest and partly humorous and eye opening article! I loved the way you used concise words to present your point in such a fantastic way.....i wholeheartedly agreed with your words that ...it is a great opportunity to analyze and reflect on your own cultural values when you live in a western country....
bravo!

Oh yeah!
forgot all about BD, I think you are not referring to Basic Democracy, in that case I assume you are most probably referring to BanglaDesh?
In that case, BD happens to be everything that India did not want it to be, too bad all those infiltration did not pay off in the terms intended by the state of India under which the Mukti Bahini ended up having more than Bengali volunteers of the then East Pakistan, a great majority of those subjects that were injected in the Pakistani boundaries, not meaning to support the violence at the hands of either party involved in that event which was equally shameful for all of them, no one came out as a winner, Pakistan, India or even BanglaDesh and all lost more than they could have estimated.
But this had nothing to do with creation of Islamic states by India, it was meant to cause severance of Pakistan which India accomplished well, but at the cost of human lives then and on an ongoing basis just as well, and, those who could have kept from being a participant in that heinous crime failed to do so.

Re: # 58
as per "Indian customs (body is created from five basic elements of nature, so let it be merged with it)
NKG, introduction of religious theories brings back religion into discussion, what you refer to as quoted above, is not "Indian custom" both you & me know well that this is a belief of the followers of a particular religion mostly practiced in India while introducing this in the context of our exchange contradicts various comments of your posted-interact.
I do not mean to be disregardful to the religion or faith of those who follow other than mine and at the same time I do not support the installation of Tombs either. As a matter of fact I believe that if those pious people who people began to almost worship after their tombs are erected, if they knew this is what people will do with their remains, I strongly believe that they would not have agreed with such action after their death, however, there is not much anyone can do in dealing with ill-educated ones regardless of the faith they follow.

...interesting article.....
md and va is a very nice area......i grew up there as a kid...and have very fond memories...
...domestic usa is the best face of usa....specially in the education sector....one can really grow and prosper in the usa, if one is willing to work hard, and if one has some professional qualifications.....
...there are, however, quite a few comprimises one has to make, in the usa.....most pakistanis want the domestic prosperity of the usa, but tend to oppose its foreign policy....this becomes a dilemma for them....they are neither able to be loyal to their adopted country, nor loyal to certain principles they believe in......us foreign policy being exactly the opposite of us domestic policy...i.e. extremely voilent.....one ends up being extremely critical of the place one has been benefitting from.......
...i have seen very few, if any, pakistani who has been able to handle this.....they tend to be in a state of limbo, when it comes to their loyalty to the usa......with some becoming holier than the pope, in their loyalty, ala hamidm, and others becoming totally hypocritical ala urstruly.....

Thanks for the adivce. Will definitely have to go see the Mughal exhibit with some of my buddies. This city is definitely the best city in the world, lol. They spend gobs of money on making it look nice to impress everyone. When you are the air and space museum at Dulles don't forget to stop by the Enola Gay. It is the bomber that dropped the atom bomb on Hiroshima.

Haven't been to the air & space near Dulles yet...but will do so soon. Have been to the one in Smithsonian which is pretty good too. The free museums are the best part about DC! Love the Smithsonian
There's a wonderful mughal exhibit going on at the Sackler Art Gallery these days; traveling exhibit visiting from Ireland. Ends in August. Highly recommended!

Matloob...
What is BD then?
Secularism, if taken to the spirit of it's origination ( separation of Church with Civil administration), India was that for last 3000 years. Indian political parties distorted it to indulge in moslem appeasement, which have created a mess in India. Tombs etc. are redundant and as per Indian customs (body is created from five basic elements of nature, so let it be merged with it) are concerned. To please mediaval arab barbarism followers, Indians should not bend its.
Moslems talking about diversity and how to behave with other faith, is something stupidest ....

I feel like appreciating your tone in your response, I mean it, although I may not agree with the actions that were taken but I feel that a civilized normal being is addressing me in response to my post.
Thank you.
The matter of easements that are implemented in many jurisdictions throughout the developing countries for enhancement of various metropolis.
It is also the practice of most civilized societies to take into confidence the residents or those who may be subjects of interest in such matters, by explaining the plans and alternate solutions, and not just becoming involved in an issue over such relocations of sites under a SC judgment.
Usually parties end up in a courtroom only when they are not able to agree on a solution allowing the court to rule on such matters at least to my knowledge the matters dont end up in the court until there is disagreement on how to finalize a matter.
You state that After creating two islamic countries, India have to keep all tombs, mosques intact and sacrifice its development work!!!!
There was only one country created for the Muslims and that happens to be Pakistan, while the other i.e. India insists to remain a secular state and not an Islamic country, which I have no problem with as long as it is secular, I am not sure that you mentioned "two Islamic countries" due to an error or did you mean to focus on something else?

"Anyway, at the risk of sparking further anti Immigrant-India/Pakistan-America rants, will end this with thanking all those also-immigrants who've warmly welcomed me."
But how can my life have meaning if i can't put other people down? :P
Anyways, welcome to the DC area...tis a lovely place. Make sure to check out the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum, my personal favorite, out near Dulles Airport.
