London’s Knife-Crime Epidemic:

"Legalise all drugs (as in Portugal and parts of Switzerland) to remove the profit from drug-crimes, and hence the criminal element, and provide government-controlled centres for addicts to get their controlled doses until they can be successfully weaned off...."

Eleminate the source of drug. The way poppy cultivation is limited in most part of the civilised world, it should not be impossible to cut the supply lines...

Military schools do not teach morality. Parents are supposed to take care of such stuff...

Legalizing all drugs may be a bit extreme.

Many CHOWK interacters are already a bit OD'd

and legalization would certainly make them go overboard.

Arjun and others would rush to London, that is if

the CHOWK fundos don't get there first.

Naqshbandi, those tactics will not work. You sound like an unkil giving a lecture on what should be done to reform Indian youth.
Sending these kids to war zones will not teach them how horrible murder is; some will love it, and others will be further traumatised, so it will not help anyone. People with these personalities can also place their comrades at risk.

the problem is that often the liberal lefty loons i.e. bleeding heart liberals --like kulharee -- often support the criminals and blame socioeconomic factors and other such bollocks for their crimes instead of getting tough on them.

if it was blacks, pakistanis and bangladeshis and white working class chavs who were the ones who had to go to trade schools etc. that would just be tough shit.

the point of sending these criminal knife-wielders to war zones is not so that they kill civilians but that they learn the hard way how terrible a thing murder is. also it will show them that they are not the tough guys they think they are.

schools do have no-weapons policies but the problem is that often not much is done other than a symbolic slap on the wrist.

If it is a school related problem, why not have a no-tolerance policy of carrying weapons in school? This policy is either not there or not being enforced.

These are some wacky proposals. Real dumb. Are you telling us that Gangs and carrying weapons and knives are “legal in the UK?

Here’s what you say, and I quote:

“10. Make it illegal to carry any type of knife or gun or other weapon…

“12. Make it a criminal offense to be a member of a gang and outlaw gangs with the punishment…

Your suggestion about sending dropouts to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is a thick idea. When these idiots are sent there and kill civilians, who are you going to blame??? Let me guess - America. These sick people are UK’s problem and should live and be treated there before being shipped overseas. They are result of UK’s own misplaced priorities and years of neglect.

It may be so that if your proposals are implemented, you can almost predict which group will be attending trade-schools and sent to Iraq. Yep, Pakis, followed by Bangladeshis.

Your suggestion about banning rap music is not any different from Taliban banning Radio and TV.

Naqshbandi Sahib,

I pretty much agree with most; don't think they are THAT draconian either......problem is this new found political correctness and the concept of "rights" without a sense of responsability

[No 7: Introduce a one-year compulsory conscription into either the Armed or Police or Civil Services for 18 year olds/school-leavers.]

This take me back to an episode of "Yes Prime Minister" where exactly that was proposed as a solution for very similar problems!! (I think the year was 1991/2)

Also the influx of immigrants (willy nilly via the continent) has tipped the balance and introduced some "new" concepts amongst the youth in Britain in general too.....different subject perhaps
