Paracha sahib,
I have now read quite a number of your articles on Chowk and must say I appreciate your honesty about the reality on the groud. Its a difficult job under the circumstances but someone has to do it .... and you do it well!

NFP's on a rampage. He is disturbing more and more "true Muslims" every week as his columns in Dawn mock fun and attack those people who have always believed themselves to be untouchable and hidden behind their notion of God and Islam. This makes NFP, at least to those who have to live a scary reality back in Pakistan, one of the best things that has happened to the kind of Islam that is not as distorted and convuluted as the one preached by the kind of people he has written here.
Btw, even though I loved this piece and the humour in it, but I can't stop laughing more on some reactions here. Epscially of those who are convinced that Paracha is going to hell while they are sure to end up in paradise. Lol!

Masadi sahib,
Yours is a wonderful post. It luxuriously reveals the flaws in the theme of the article. If it takes one to be dim witted and confused to get published on chowk, may you never get published here :)

Salam and greetings of peace everyone,
I sincerely think that Paracha sahib should give up writing. This kind of "writing" can fly in MAG and other such tabloids but for any serious reader the flaws in his thought process and his dimwitted arguments comparing mini skirts in Pakistan (a traditional society that makes no claims to be open minded) to banning the Hijab in France (a self proclaimed enlightened social democracy) not to mention that "banning" mini skirts has nothing to do with condemning a particular group and relegating them through such definitions to a subservient status. If my memory servers me right the magazine he worked for tried to emulate those "mini skirts" as something from a higher status that even though forbidden needed emulation, unlike the Hijab situation in France.
The other theme in this dimwitted piece is that the mullah, the illiterate mullah and his moronic thought process somehow describes Islam and describes the mainstream Muslim mind, both are gross exaggerations and much removed from reality.
Paracha sahib, your claims that you have "read" x and y and z are all lies, and I call that on your face, I have seen your understanding of Islam that tells me you don't understand the Quran, I have read your understanding of Marxism that tells me you don't know s*** about it and I have seen your writing and you write at the level of an below average high school graduate. In other words, you are the kind of author that Chowk staff, the Gills and the Sohails seek. Congratulations for making their "short-list".
Have a good day,
TNI Masadi

Oh bhai so called self styled paindu, obsolete hippy, qaidee number 1969/420 from Udiala jail--Mr. Nadim Parcha saab. The attitude of giving a f*** about every thing is quite old fashioned now. So Mr. Hippy, even the word hippy (not cos that you have big hips, so don't think its a compliment) is obsolete from the oxford dictionary. So please take a hair cut, shave for once in your life time (get a new gillette razor and throw away that disposable blue razor that you have kept since 1969, as it is supposed to be disposed after few shaves)and most importantly brush your teeth as i can even smell your bad breath even though i am on a different continent. Please start saying something which makes atleast a little bit sense. One has got a more decent chance of having a rather sensible conversation with Ch. Shujat Hussain then Mr. Sada Parcha. Your thoughts emerge from a deeply rooted inferiority complex which has almost become an obsessive compulsive neurosis. If you don't know what this means then i am sure your quite used to of having a pocket dicionary in your pocket.

i realize that i slipped from the track a little over by saying''(nalay darling mayno is interact ya comment da jawab na he dayi ta changa jay ,,,,, kiu kay meri "likhaee hich teray ja ay aastay koi safai naee")''
i apology for that,it was nothing personal ,in fact.
I am happy that you mentioned and are aware of the traditional footwear "peshawari chappal" and the traditional food "peshawari chappal kabab" do you know why the kababs are mentioned by the name of chappals? your answer may be "that the kababs are cooked spreadedly and resemble like a chappal, thats why?,,,,but its not like that.
In reality the grinded red chilli and other spices sting (the eater's tongue and throat from the fisrt bite till the last one) in a way that he feels bieng continuesly hitted by a "chappal" on his head.So the next time when you get a chance to visit PESHAWAR pls do try to eat the famous traditional "peshawari chappal kabab",i hope you will feel to have a great experience of life and soon you will start saying "it wont and never could work in a language far away"
love you if you are still young and pretty

It was 1994. I was an assistant editor and columnist for an English daily in Karachi.
Tussi angreji tay wadhee chunggi kertay ho Nadeem sahib, mein akhya thora ja farq tay jaroor haye ga Praying hor Preying-ich.
I mean a veteran of English literature, over 14 years of experience dealing with literary english, tussi inna farq tay ker sakday ho namaz hor shikar-ich?
Such as: (it seems you do not pray much).
as opposed to Why, do preying people have wings?).
Hey, everybody makes mistakes and inadvertent errors but not editors and that too for an English daily, I would not even have mentioned considering it an innocent error had I not learned from your writing that you are/were "the" Editor of an English daily and that too when you happen to be 14+ years less experienced than today!!
No sweat man, just felt like pulling your leg, I have never appreciated people who try to account for my deeds instead of munkir & nakeer, poor munkir & nakeer would not even qualify for unemployment compensation if there were too many tablighis of such type.
It is absolutely anti-Islamic for someone to judge another in the manner you specify, may Allah SWT bless them with the right knowledge of deen, ameen, as such people with half knowledge are more damaging to the reputation of deen than any others.
Regards

Dear Nadeem,
You were lucky to have been left alone by the Tableeghi and giving up to the humble depantation at your hands. Where I come from, people are kicked out of villages, relations and friendships are cut off, lives are threatened, meetings and jaloos are held against people who do not observes hijab or dare to question the established mullaiyat. If that does not scare the hell out of the people in question, these mujahideen/tableeghi then resort to doing everything that 'la ikra ha fi din' was a typing error and that religion of peace is damn aggressive.
The fruit of Zia ul Haq's mosque building and talibanization will be reaped for decades to come in both Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kashmir. As we speak the markets of Kurram Agency, Fata, Lahore and other dens of momineen seem to be overloaded with such fruits.
But then again, if age old scripture is all these people read, follow, believe in, dream of under the kind influence of the Saudis ... What Talibanization!?

Reminds me of the time when I was set upon by a bunch of "born again" Christianwallas. These folks use a slightly different technique, though. They describe how "touching Christ" has changed them on the inside and gave their life true meaning and they start exlaining their own individual experiences and after a while, the peer pressure is so intense that you start feeling that there must be something totally wrong with you if YOU have not been "touched"!

I like the analogy. Soldier. Finally..hindku really that's nice, so I might know some of it. good to know you have peshawaree chapal and kabab, but also 'reading' and 'writing' powers. I'll be out of here soon Mr. Peshawaree, and yeah, I'm old and retired, though I look very pretty and young, [many things in life are deceptions]
Art Rules. Ciao Everyone, the show is over, and yeah, I'm the one who calls it off.

My answer is: Art. If its a battle of words or wit, then we, the writers can defeat monsters.
Your essay was a true reminder to us all, that the inner-world exists. I can't hear nothing more. Life is not about petty rivalries. We must go on, we must continue.
I propose: Art, everyone, in the comments, in answers, in questions, let the superior force, do its will. Go on till necessary. We can beat them.
-----------My contribution, for an excellent piece on my country's Independence Day:
Gangrene hands of a Sadequain painting.
gangrene, got-to-say goes
thick German Accent,
brings me home
I've been gone
away so long
I missed you, torture, my city,
friend. lonesome,
street of my hometown.

Lets try something new.

I don't agree with your point of view .
You are assuming things and you are projecting your own filth on " un known " women of Pakistani society.
People know that you are also "fat " now and although you got laid by thousands of people you still get very angry , bitter and piosonous most of the times.
Shelter , Security , Food, Shower / toilet , Sex ( need for companion and children ) etc. are basic necessities of life which humans need through out their lives.
Islam regulate all these needs within clearly defined and secure boundries of family.
Without any committment or love, Getting laid here and there , in park bushes , in car back seats, in his room , in her room, with that guy , with that other guy can only make people more alcoholic, cocaine / marijuana and sex addicts ,.and such escaping maniacs are hiding underlying issues and they can be very dangerous for the mankind.
Look at the behaviour of George W Bush , he laid thousands of women in his life , he became cocaine / Marijuana addict during his college days ,..then he became alcoholic and sex addict and got criminal record due to impaired driving.
Such addicts with low self image are easy targets for Church Thugs , and they lured him to become " born again Christian " , and then god started to come in his mind telling him to bomb Muslim families of Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Now G W Bush and Lora Bush are going to divorce each other , hence your theory about making people more sane and stable through Zina, adultery , sex addiction, drug addiction , fornication etc. is wrong.
