Party chief Altaf Hussain and
the MQM Rabita Committee cancelled Liaquat's membership after accusing him of "spreading religious hatred through his TV shows" and going against party policies.
MQM, mqm...where have I heard that name before, weren't these the terrorists, killers, maniacs and s**of****** that ruined my city, not too long ago?
I hate them. Religious Fanaticism, what is that anyway...poof the magic dragon, write on some other topic now. We're bored.

GA Muttahida - the most sane, informed and educated political party in Pakistan.

Also, Aamir Liaquat is a perfect example of a hypocrite. He uses religion in a glamorous way in order to sugar coat some of the stupidest and extremist views that are aired on his program. He has bashed US several times but refuses to grill those "scholars" who come on his program because obviously they can never be wrong.

There isnt much morality to this. MQM knows it simply cant afford to cede ground to the religious right because if they make ANY appeasement noises next thing you know karachi urdu speakers will start voting for IJI again.

Kudos to MQM for dumping Amir Liaqat Hussein, other parties need to follow their example.

no,no,no! we must have sensible men and women at all cost. let them blame, it is only a vent under cover. they themselves are threatened by others' s blame. we must keep our viewpoint sensible. it prevents mass hysteria.

its funny when one hypocrite and a showman blames the other of the same thing. i wonder how this works.

"A society whirling helplessly inside a dangerous socio-political flux in which even the most sensible men and women are looking at everyone but themselves to put the blame on for whatever that has gone wrong in the spheres of economics, politics and religion in Pakistan."
Why an ordinary person who has not caused this mess will blame themselves ... do you and I have any control over it?
"...if there are no multinationals sponsoring their shows, there will be no show at all."

For the first time in your life, your article seems to make some sense. Its note worthy that the overall feel of the article was much more mature and focused. The objectivity was quite clear and that seems to be a big improvement in your mental approach.
The typical hyper emotional instability was lacking, which indeed is a big positive. Keep it up!!
P.S Looks like nictonie patches are available in Pakistan now!

This brings to my attention, that i watched a programme on a second rated tv channel (can't remeber the name, one of those AAJ type channels). There was an Adnan Sami look a like gorafied cum desi wannabe hosting the show along with a man who had some rather strange gestures when talking. Mr. Paracha was also one of the participant of this copied prgramme from the BBC. Mr. Paracha has been a big critic of pirated music and stolen ideas all his life. How come you managed to appear in such a pirated talk show. As you are being so critical of all these talk shows. How would you rate that show?
Guess all the maulvis are same. Whatever you do yourself is halal, any one else does it, then it becomes haram!

It's always been great reading Paracha. No matter what, he never let's go. This is a highly timely article and accurately describes the state of the media in Pakistan and how with their jihadi anchors and blind preachers they are trying to create nothing but even more havoc.
And yes, I agree, how come if men like Hamid Mir and Ziad Hamid are so ticked off with the west, they let their shows be sponsored by western multinationals?
Kudos, NFP.

I partially enjoyed and agreed regarding state of media evangelist and media cooperations.
But I am bit disappointed, high expectations and no way this is improvement.
luck next time?

The media in Pakistan and in much of the neighborhood is a system of tools and propaganda much of it to appease the conventional wisdom and exploit the poor and often brainless, senseless 'naazirin e karaam'
Good job NFP

abbayy jaahilloon hamid mir never claimed to be a socialist, marxist, or a surqa. he disagrees with american foreign policy and so does 73% american citizens. NFP on the other hand is the self-proclaimed cheguavara, hugo chavez, stalin all rolled in one.....his hard-on for american estab. all of a sudden just because they r killing muslims however is quite rich.
