Mr Tariq,
I do agree that extremism in all its forms is BAD. But then it goes 2 ways. Those who profess religion in its extremist form are as BAD as those who breath out fire against them. A balanced approach is the only answer. But as humans it becomes difficult to maintain balance. Satan spends most of his time trying to push people towards one side or another so that they lose balance and and adopt strict, extremist and totalitarian views of life's problems. I donot have an iota of doubt that zalim on line should refrain from blurting out like this but we should not call for the mass murder of all religious scholars also. one should listen to all of them and then formulate his opinion. forgive me but u have also been slightly extremist in ur opinions. The answer to theses problems is in getting closer to religion to understand what all is actually right and wrong. The answer is not in standing on a side and blaming all those who r actually trying to follow it irrespective of how narrow minded their approach might be. I do agree that the root cause of these problems is not in 9/11 alone. It all dates back to the times when we allowed and encouraged these groups to be formed. How many educated people do u know who can teach Quran or prayers to their children with full confidence in themselves. We all need to go back to the drawing board and hit the basics again. we need to reformulate our own visions and understandings. it will take time and effort. but then it has to be done.

Great article, Aqil sahib. What a shameless and cowardly bunch of ostriches (like this "cyclone" below) we have in Pakistan who refuse to acknowledge what is plain to see - illiterate men, wearing the mask of "islam" are seeking to carve out pieces of pakistan for themselves!!
Thank God for the democratic government and our brave soliders who, freed from mechinations of the terrorism-promoter musharraf, are finally going after these animals.

Is there not an incitement to murder law in Pak?
That "smarmy" presenter should be locked up and tried for this offence.

It should be called " Jahil on-line".The person, which I doubt is a doctor, is a very good actor. He should try his luck in lollywood.

Good job, keep up the good work but try to explain it to people your point of view with a pinch of honey and sugar!

Its a very very good article. Hats off to you. I fully agree that majority of Pakistani just come up with this non sense stance that Amercian conspiracy is actively involved behind every blast or act of violence. We are indeed becoming a nation of sensless religous fanatics.
I still remember those fancy theories that USA itself was involved in 9/11. And now we have started applying these non sense irrational theories to our home terrorism also.
Well done Mr Tariq, you have written a clear articulate and a moving piece.

"but their facilitators may well have been agency people"
yes. I'm not interested in "who pulled the trigger" but rather "who supplied the gun". Cause if you stop the gun supplier, there's no trigger to pull.
okay, with that, I gotta go.

Aqil sahib,
Good piece. But there's no reason to charge the Talibs/Islamists with crimes that they have not commited. There is a reason to believe that BB's assassination was not their handiwork.
Toofan Pai,
Marriott was certainly the handiwork of the Talibs (possibly the type that Zee sahib wud describe as bad Talibs) but their facilitators may well have been agency people.
Regards

Aqil,
a rambling angry article. Would have done better if it were focused.
A point to consider: perhaps the Mariott bombing was not the "religious fanatics" ?
Yes, religious fanaticism should be curbed, if that alim online dude did what you described, the govt should start a criminal investigation against him...I'm wary of all these tele-evangilists anyway
