This reminds me of this girl i recently met in Lahore. She is blind and has qualified her CSS. very brave young girl. She had a prominent position in the exams and has been selected despite her handicap. The best part is she doesnt sulk about her misfortune. Very brave indeed!

Thank you. I am still learning to appreciate more the content of a person than the container. It takes years of practice and humility to truly look past the outlook.
But still trying:)

One would assume, you would be more original in the title of the article rather than a cheap borrowing of the name of a Lahore restaurant that caters to the burger class.
Have a nice day,

Salt and Pepper reminded me of a great American, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who kept up his optimism despite being crippled by polio and gave hope to the nation during its darkest days.
My wife and I often see people with disabilities giving time and money to organizations such as the Humane Society, Sierra Club and the American Red Cross. I don't know if you read Newsweek but this account by Kirk Douglas was very uplifting.

parthaab, i am grateful for the critique. Coming from you i know its real. Do check out my ilogs as Abee. I write alot of poetry but prose is my "real" work. Unfortunately it has to be submiotted in the nooks and corners of the ilogs. Anyhow the pen must keep flowing. In the very short time that i can dedicate to writing i try my best and leave the canvas blank for life to fill in more colors.
Thank you

a beautifully put together peace highlighting how our "anaesthetic of familiarity" has the potential to make us oblivious to our surroundings .... including people .... if only we have the time (or perhaps inclination) to pay more attention to little details that matter! ... a person is a person, regardless of their apparent handicaps (and we all have the less 'apparent' ones) ... and it does require some effort at times to look beyond those 'apparent' disabilities
... bravo!
... bravo!

Thank you Ijaz. I really appreciate the audience on chowk. They help me in writing and sharing without feeling too soft and cliche.

Thank you Hitman. i wish i had a better expression to share the wonders of the world of healing. Unfortunately some things can only be felt and never narrated. i have a long life and career ahead (god willing) and i will try and capture the pivotal moments for my own soul (when later on money may matter more than healing) and for others who may not be exposed to these experiences.
I share your fascination because these small reminiscences keep my feet firmly on the ground and help me remember the human element i share with my patients. Its not i who heal them, i am just the instrument of the real healer:)
God Bless

In some syndromes these two are related Ahmed. But the fact that this gentleman works in the Coronary Care is unrelated to his health problems. He just reminded me of how judgemental we become as we grow older and how little ones goodness has to do with his looks.

This sounds more like a love story! But well written indeed!
Wonder why FEMALE authors like Amber seem better at expressing themselves, than MALE authors!
It certainly is better than reading her poems ( which female authors seem to thrive in )

Mixed work place is a unique environment and gives people a chance to look into each others life outside the Freudian sense. Sometimes it is educative and on others, its back to basic instincts.
This is one wonderful narration, explicit and descriptive with well matched similes and metaphors. These are two very good writings on chowk in one day;he first on 'Father and Daughter' by Fatima Mirza and now this.
Thanks a lot for taking us out of that daily blabber of 'who hates whom' through a journey of language that reach deep into.
Keep writing and Cheerios
