pinku: Maybe the Kashmiris know something you dont.
]]

Good, but they don't know what they know and hence can't tell anyone??... even if it is an illusion, they don't even know what their illusion is and can't state it.. do they know something that is worse than illusion....

Let them know a bit more about what they know, they have infinite time to know what they know and then another inifnity to state it and yet another to live it...

Re: # 53
hamidm2.....
What freedom the Kashmiri moslems are lacking but Pakistani moslems are enjoying? Can you provide some example?

The plebicite matter did not arise, as the major political party (which won election after election),had abundoned that from begining. If the separatists were so popular, they should have participated in elections, proved their majority and raised the issue. That did not happen. The horror of direct action from Pathan raiders were quite nascent in the minds of Kasmiri moslems. Even during 1962 Indo-Pak war, Pakistan had fought perceiving that, Kashmiris will help Pakistan. But that did not happen....

Why USA should pay money for these jihadis? USA treat them as terrorists and even participated in counter-intergency excersizes in Kashmir. It is like USA paying money to Talibs....
The whole point of separation from India is - India is not pure arab slave (driven by single agenda of what 7th century arab beduine preached and practised). Naturally, their master should pay. USA had nothing to do with arab beduinism....they do not have any responsibility towards the beduine clones....

Selling is my idea, not the G O I's. That is the best option for India....But then again, will the Jihadis stop infiltrating into India after the Kashmir is transferred to Pakistan? No definitive answer....China will ensure that Kashmir problem is kept alive through Pakistan. That is the way to divert India's effort from promoting the cause of Tibetans...
So, the game is something different...

dost mittar #60 Both India and Pakistan are moving forward in intra-Kashmir trade and freedom of people to move around. Clearly both India and Pakistan realize it is in their interest to ease tensions in kashmir. Meantime, Kashmiris are going to become increasingly assertive as their middle class grows. So..I think the problem may be on its way to solving itself.

#125 after 60 years, Kashmiri movement to be freed of india has only grown stronger. Time for a little reflection by indians, perhaps (see my post below to dm)?

Ask Kashmiri what? Can you ask Pakistanis what they separated for, they are still not certain??? You need a great mind-reader or super computer to know why these people want to separate?? People who have thrown out Hindus and separating based on religion?? They need their own nation? Can they tell the world the list of things that they will be proud of as a separate nation? Islam? being muslim? People who needed to separate from India because they were muslim? People who could play in the hands of ISI/Pakistan and could let all money spent on them go waste??? People who forced Kashmiri Hindus out??

So you think they will get lot of respect from common people all around the world by separating out of India??? Tell it to Kashmiries.

And who told you that they are of different race? Are they descendants of those Hindus/Buddhists who created Kashmir as a living place and who live all over India or you think they are Arabs??

If one did a survey, one would find that most of the pro-Pakistani vocal Kashmiri zealots have their children in Indian universities away form the violence of the Valley while they themselves incite the poor and ill informed Kashmiris to riot against the state

Omar Abdulla is just following the policies of his father and grandfather who thought constructive ties with the Central Government was the best for the people of the state. Likewise Mehbooba is the daughter of a former Home Minister of India.
These are young leaders and they realise fully well that friendly ties with India bring more benefits to the state than the risk of chaos that would follow if the likelihood of the state seceding from the Union.
Also they have grown as citizens of India, Omar having even adorned the office of the State Minister for External Affairs.
They have a sensible head on their shoulders and will do what is right for their people.

Re: # 122

You will have to ask a Kashmiri that. One thing I can think of is that little Kashmir will be able to preserve its identity in an independent state. Look at what's happening with the Bihari mass migrations to Punjab. They are beginning to alter the demographic characteristics of the state. Every Sikh I know is complaining about it.

There is the pride of seeing your own country on the world the map - basically nationalism. Don't forget Kashmiris are racially and culturally different to Indians - it isn't just the religion that seperates them from India. They will be able run their own affairs without inferference from outsiders. There are many advantages as well as disadvantages to Kashmiris going their own way. It is their decision at the end of the day.
