it is a sad story but unfortunately true. Our nation needs to stand united but still. I hav another angle to this story that is the people who got killed were not only pakhtoons and muhajir but it was like that there were alot of family tiffs over a land issue or what so ever.. here in north nazimabad a n icecreme parlour owner was shot 6 bullets in head.. it is said that his uncle shot him because they had an issue of some property from past 6 or 7 years. my point is that there are alot of people taking advantage of this chaos because they know that blame would eventually come either on MQM or the pakhtoon party...

tahir, yaar you can youtube for speeches by pakhtun politicians about sending hindustani agents back to India, etc. islamis and punjoos are using this issue to, as usual, rile up awam against MQM, the issue is more complex.

I just heard 'the world's best mayor'--whatever is his name--saying THIS on TV:

"If MQM had not been around, the death toll would have risen to thousands...."

Now who was that military dictator who created this Hydra for us?

kcs...
when you face problems everyday (for minimum facilities to survive) it is very difficult to keep the civility...this applies specialy in urban areas....

Its all about economics.

Operation in FATA area has forced migration of many families in search of safety and economic relief, and where do they land, Karachi. Poor Karachi has very little to offer to the existing workforce, thus the pressure and rising tensions. Comments such as rise of Talibanization masked the real issue and that is loss of numbers and increase demand on already dwindling resources. Talibanization of Pak society has been going on for the last thirty years, it is nothing new.

MQM has their agenda and voters to satisfy, ANP has their agenda and voters to appease. Both sides are competing for the same pie which is shrinking as the economy sinks further, is there a solution? Restraint from both sides in extremely dangerous times, other than that very little can be done or advised.

Another sad tragedy, one of a type that occurs so often in the subcontinent that we have become numb and hardly react.

My heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families.

We are a long, long way from being modern, developed, civilized nations.
