The LHC- I am hoping- will answer fundamental questions of our existence and not so fundamental one as well (I hope) such as whether Time travel is possible. Those of us who don't buy traditional religious view of afterlife, hang on to that hope to see our loved ones again.

Science has no end.
500 years from now, the physicists will still be waiting for some experiment with their fingers crossed and the mouths open. Nevertheless, it will still be very interesting and exciting.

Too bad about the LHC being postponed though. There is some concern (not considered valid, obviously) that the LHC would create a black hole that would suck in all of europe. That will be too bad, because european airports provide such a nice break from the long flights from New York to Islamabad.
