JayP..
Per cent means measured in the scale of hundred...
this is another means of representing rational number...
now ,when your profit exceeds twice the amount of last years profit, how will you describe that in term of last year value?

Fellow Indians:
‘Indian govt’s proposal to regulate electronic media an assault’
NEW DELHI: Editors of major Indian news channels have described a government proposal to ‘regulate’ the electronic media as “an assault on the principles of free media and the right to speech and expression.
The comments came at a meeting of the editors here on Tuesday to discuss proposed amendments to the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act and its implications. They asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene and “uphold the democratic credentials of the country. They claimed the government was trying to ‘rein in the media’.
“The self-regulation attempts which were put in place by the news channels have been completely disregarded by the government, and attempts are now being made to completely subjugate the media into virtually performing the role of a government public relations wing, the editors said in a statement.
According to the proposed amendments, district and sub-district officers have been accorded powers to block live transmission of any news channel and also confiscate transmission equipment. The officers will also have the authority to decide whether a repeat telecast of footage is necessary. They will also decide whether a reporter, victim or any other person’s beeper or interview can ‘disrupt public order or is against national interest’.
Another part of the proposal is to provide visuals and footage through a nodal agency in any emergency situation.
“This means that television channels can no longer cover communal riots and even agitations like the one seen in Rajasthan during the Gujjar Andolan of the Gujarat riots a few years ago, said the editors.
They said the existing laws already allowed the government to act against channels violating rules under the licensing agreements. They called on the government to take a mature and constitutional view of the proposed amendments.

ledging to renew US leadership through a “smart power mix of diplomacy and defence, Hillary Clinton said certain events post-November US presidential elections like the Mumbai terror attacks and the Gaza conflict threw up new challenges for American diplomacy.
“We must build a world with more partners and fewer adversaries, said Clinton.
“We must use what has been called ‘smart power’, the full range of tools at our disposal, she said. “With ‘smart power’, diplomacy will be the vanguard of foreign policy.
///////////////////
the humiliation of pakistan is to continue. What the mumbai attack and the indian response has achieved is tremendous, every pakistani feels discredited, hates his govt and feels miserable for just being a pakistani. This is far more damaging and lasting than any military strike. This is slow erosion and incapacitation of the paki elites. One can see this on chowk, the paki interactors have reduced so much that it is a pure indian site.

Funding the jihadis
It is clear that the jiahdis in swat and other areas have no shortage of money. One should not forget that they are all jihadis, products of teh madrassas where koran rules. But how are they getting money to buy weapons.
That is provided by the robery they commit in karachi primarily. The paki army is in cohort with the jihadis, almost all of the stolen vehicles are moved to afghanistan, the kidnappers and bank robers are jihadis. This is one area where the jihadis and the pakia rmy work together, to extract another tax from the sindhis.
The poor atlaf has to act on this, protect sindh from teh jihadis, reduce the burden on the people of sindh by eliminating the jihadic crime tax.

In support of masadi,
It is a perversion of the americal new media, the use of 300 percent etc. In such situation, it sould be said 3 times.
300 percent is simply illogical.
Another CNN absurdity is "half of one percent", it should be half a percent.
The usage is so pervasive that the people have lost the ability to think, they simply parrot what ever the news reader says and take it as logical.

Nalaayak Masadi, reference is not absolute. Did you get it, or your ego came in between? Then what would you know, you have held on to Mills and 7th century as absolute.
