Re: #11 parthaab
Yaar, you may have a point about misandry being pervasive and highly surreptitious. You may even have a point about this piece being full of misandry without being perceivable. In fact, this stuff is probably so insidious, I am totally unable to locate it! But, what do I know!!
This kambakhat misandry must be a chalaak animal of the first degree!
One thing you got to admit, though! The females have some built-in advantages over us males when it comes to making protests on issues.
Back in the 1960’s many American ladies made their points rather strongly by burning their bras – to assert their independence and a break from outmoded views on women issues. It REALLY got the males' attention -- especially of those who lined up to observe the event at close range.
Kambakhat males have no such recourse, even if we wanted to. What are we males going to burn?
Baniyaans?!
Langotees?!
Life is simply unfair!! :(
Thanks for your ceaseless attempts to right the balance. Males have been asleep far too long. We need to be woken up. (My wife reminds me of my own tendency to sleep long hours every morning!)
The only problem with that I see is – the longer that we males spend our time awake, the harder and longer those wily ladies will make us work during those waking hours.
Did I tell you that kambakhat life is not fair?!

Misandry : Hatred of males.
This article is a classic example, though we are so used to seeing misandry all around us, that we hardly 'see' it! It is far different from FEMINISM, though it is usually confused with feminism.
While there are areas where feminism is useful - since many females feel they need help, since society is biased against their gender - it has been completely replaced in todays age, by Misandry, going by the name of feminism.
WAKE UP MALES! SPEAK UP!

Zaman bhai, thanks again! It is true that Dick Cheney is a highly controversial character. Part of it is due to his far right conservative views. But more importantly, his combative style, his intransigence, and his apparent contempt for public opinion when it runs counter to his deeply-held beliefs; all that make him a favorite target of the liberals and currently, a big chunk of the US population at large. Because of the same, he makes an attractive choice for virtually any kind of comedy routine from the generally liberal Hollywood crowd. A big part of the current piece was originally drafted as a blog in 2005 and had no connection with Cheney at the time – which was added very recently. Virtually any political figure from the far right would have probably worked out well – but Cheney (IMHO) fits like a glove.
Therefore, since the glove fit so well, Cheney miaN had to wear it!! :)

Yaar, ab tumhe kya samjhaaooN!
Did you consider the possibility at all that the reference to "gun" was metaphoric?!! ;)
Khair!
Re: #4, #5 Essensaur
Yaar, I respectfully disagree. And a quick Google validates me. The scene was indeed in the first Indiana Jones movie -- which was probably one of the reasons it was such a great hit!
Re: #6 MatloobZaman
Zaman bhai, thanks a lot! Over time, I have come to share some of the negative perceptions of Mr. Cheney though he has his strong points, too -- I am sure. Especially to his fans!!

nice story but you ruined the dream, why would you ever dream of eternally constipated face? When you see this D-man in a video and specially when he begins to talk, it seems he is complaining about his long time miserable suffering, yet none of the US pharmaceutical conglomerates have yet been able to offer him a laxative he badly needs.
Nice work BJ sahib.

Actually there was an almost exactly similar gun versus sword event in the Temple of Doom. I remembered that better, I guess.

Beej Sahib, did you ever think in terms of doing a stand-up comedy act? Oh, and btw, that episode was from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom".

Dramatic effect & historically altering change happen e.g. invention of Gun Powder .
India could not be colonised by Brits (i think it was ultimately good for 'India ')Ignorently we forget the reason

Ama yaar, one of the points that is (rather indirectly) made in this piece is that while the lathi does better compared to bare hands at meeting one's stated objectives, it falls far short of modern technolgy represented even by such outdated tools of violence as the common gun.
Even a tel-pilai-lathi is still a lathi, after all!
Steven Spielberg made that point poignantly in the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in the scene where this Arab guy thinks he has Indiana Jones at his mercy and is trying to impress him with his kalaabazi using his (rather large) sword. Indiana Jones looks on in a rather detached way while he reaches for his...you guessed it!
If you have not seen that scene, do check it out at (for example) the following URL....

Biharis claim to have perfected the art of 'lathi'. I have been told they could deflect bullets with their swinging lathi. What is your observation on this?
