Dost,
The good news is that recently the Karachi City Council has approved a budget of Rs.51.7 Bn ($650 million) for Karachi and it was a supported even by the Jamaat-e-Islami led Awam-Dost Group at City Council. If I could remember around Rs.11 bn alone would go to KWSB (Karachi Water and Sewerage Board) and around $0300-350 million would be spent on developmental schemes in 18 Towns of Karachi.
There is a Cardic Hospital Planned and close to completion in Shah Faisal Town where an Open Heart Surgery would cost Rs.45,000 only.

There is a plan to make another Heart Disease Hospital for Children in Institute for Heart Diseases at FB Area where surgery for patients are done for Rs.10,000 only.
CDGK also imported top of the range machines unavailable in this all region which could now operate patients even after an open heart surgery via laser. All this would cost a patient Rs.50,000 only.

There’s Memon Institute in Korangi which is the biggest Vocational Training Institute in Pakistan.
There’s are also 3 other hospitals planned in Karachi by CDGK.
More than 100 CNG Buses will be running in Karachi this month – paid by CDGK intead of provincial or federal government.
I would personally like to invite you to go around the various areas especially to Baldia Town, Korengi Town and rest of the neglected areas to see the extra-ordinary development done in Karachi and Hyderabad.
I only believe what I see rest ! logo ka kaam hai kehna :)

Barrister Ali K Chisti Sahab,

True the local government system is a good system and it has worked well in Karachi and Hyderabad. However, you have conviniently glossed over Naimatullah Khan's contribution who actually showed that this system could work.

Cowasjee has written three columns in DAWN recently which shows what your MQM leadership is upto. You can easily find them under the title "I own Karachi I can sell it too "

What MQM is doind is building bridge on one hand and encroaching upon parks and public property on other hand and giving them to their workers on throw away prices. I am witness to such activities in North Nazimabad - all the parks have been encroached up where ppl actually started visiting after Naimutallah improved them...

Babar Ghouri, the notorious land mafia who owns the strip of Shadi Halls in North Nazimabad...the illegal Saima Bridge View that is being built just beside the Nazimabad bridge is owned by MQM supporters. All "Saima" developments contribute heavily to MQM coffers. The pizza hut that has been rented out again near the same place illegally.

MQM is the largest land mafia in Karachi and is leaving pathans behind....

@akber,

I. More than 17,000 Extra Judicial Killing took place and the worst year was 1995 when more than 2800-3000 workers and sympathizers were killed by law enforcement authorities. HRCP, Amenity International declared 1995 as “the worst year for human rights”.

II. Obviously, MQM is no angel but is better of the lot and instead of talking they had contributed most to their respect constituencies and that’s what it matters and nothing else.

ali chishti,

either you don't live in Karachi or you are a top class liar and a hipocrate.

in 1997 mqm claimed there 5000 - 6000 party workers were extra judicaly killed in army operation in the period of 1992 - 1996, in 1999 they claim there 9000 party workers were killed for the same period, in 2002 during elections they claimed there 12000 party workers were killed for the same period from 1992-1996, in 2008 elections claims went to 14000 party workers extra judically killed and now in this article ali chishti claims it was 17000.

Hello sir could you please come up with a figure and stick to it.

So after the operation ended what did they do to seek justice for there slain party workers??

instead of fighting in the court of law, they receive 5 crores for compensation from the government for there slain party workers. And killed all police officers involved in operation from 1992 - 1996, yes you can check, all the inspectors involved in operation all are dead now, and none of them died a natural death.

you got some nerve to call anyone else facist, terrorist.

and how come you forgot to mention how many business, industries shifted from karachi to punjab from 1986 to 1992 due to Specific mqm terrorism and extortion, which actually resulted in a need for operation in 1992, and afterward due to situation created by them and the list can go on and on how they have kept terrorised karachi, even Human rights commision of Pakistan calls them a mafia. The candian supreme court declared them a terrorist outfit.

and not to forgot as any other facisit terrorist outfit they grown and prospered during military goverments.

Mqm is a cancer for karachi which is getting out of control, only solution to mqm problem is rule of law implemented in karachi so that this group of petty thieves turn into fasict mafia could be bring to book.

@Che,
If Police would have come under Local Reps. then who would have given them bribes?

If Musharraf achieved anything during his tenure it was implementing the local bodies system, too bad about the police not being transferred under local government authorities thqat would have been a revolutionary step.

There’s no doubt about MQM’s commitment to her respect constancies and Mustafa Kamal and her back Nazims and Union Councils did the unthinkable in Karachi. Hyderabad in Sindh lead by another MQM Nazim did an amazing job. Thanks Ali for sharing the information.
And valid points raised by you about the hypocrisy of our people!
