wow aneel!
see what u've done..
i have to admit its really difficult to see where u were going with ur article, but the overwhelming reaction to it is probably the opposite to what was intended..
more praise and acknowledgment for the services of the army for the nation!!
P.S. - about the incident u quoted, plz remember sir, exceptions r exceptions, rules r rules.. and thats how wise ppl treat them! :)

Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. thats all I have to say about Salman Aneel and some of the respondents for this article. by the way salman aneel, you wouldn't happen to be what we Pakistanis call a "chura" would you?

Guys...Gals...hold it, just hold it !

How many foreign nationals have you met who criticize their own army ?

Politicians & bureaucrats have no stake in Pakistan, whereas the army does.

Note this down:
NO ARMY---NO PAKISTAN---PERIOD

Stop criticizing Pakistan Army, let the inquiry commission decide, what actually happened who is actually at fault, its easy to sit back and criticize pakistan Army, through blogging, but it really requires guts and grit to face the death and to sacrifice your life for your country.Stop this baseless propaganda.

“Do you people know what really happened in Mardan? Have you heard what Major Asad and Lt Haider have to say about the incident? Making decision after hearing only one party in unfair.”

Let’s see now – how many incidents would you say occurred in which a District Officer kicked a brigadier’s arse in his area, or a Customs Officer or the Police beatup army folk in their jurisdiction. I can assure you that you would have a hard time finding even a single incident. The reason is not that the army is full of angels who never engage in errant behavior or that the bureaucracy does not feel the urge of metting out such well deserved punishments; it is the fact that they do not have the capability or the resources to do it. In any confrontation army has the muscle to stop any action however aggregious it may be.

This is why it is important that we always keep the big picture in mind. The army’s mandate is restricted to protecting the state from external threats to its solidarity or internal threats from sedition or rebellion. The action against the Taliban came about specifically after they were defined as a rebellion and their actions as terrorism. The army has no business what so ever in Mardan or any other part of Pakistan other then to stay in their barracks and train for when needed. So they interfering with a DMG in his work let alone beat him up should be enough for their Court Martial.

“But to fighting terrorists require guts. What do you think about the feelings of the parents of these officers fighting terrorists? Critisism is very easy, doing something useful is not so....”

You have lost complete perspective. This is the only reason for their existence and they are doing a miserable job of it. Even now they don’t do the hard work; they are still flailing away with lobbing artillery shells and using helicopter gunships rather then getting down with the Taliban. With great fanfare they announced taking on Baitullah Mehsud but look what they did. Till now they have not shown a single time when they actually engaged the Taliban.
But what can you expect from an army which forgot to fight forty years ago the only defense they now know is Defense Housing Authority and their parents of course are ‘feeling’ just like what they are feeling, now that they have stepped out of Defense.

“Critisism is very easy, doing something useful is not so....”

Rulers because they are rulers, should be subjected to the harshest criticism. With power comes responsibility.

Military had to be the dominant institution in a country which was created on the basis of some perceived threat from others. It is a necessary evil in a society, very foundation of which is based on hatred towards people of other religion.

Do you people know what really happened in Mardan? Have you heard what Major Asad and Lt Haider have to say about the incident? Making decision after hearing only one party in unfair.

"The two sons of the nation, Lt Haider and Major Asad of 32 cavalry were apparently tired of fighting against terrorism/Taliban and their idea of taking a break was ..." making statements like this while sitting in a hotel in Newyork is very easy. But to fighting terrorists require guts. What do you think about the feelings of the parents of these officers fighting terrorists? Critisism is very easy, doing something useful is not so....

M.R.Kayanai...the genius judge.
Knew how to deliver the message.

But it is not dirty soil...it is the soiled soil..and most by the sons-of-the-soil...the angraiz-kay-ghulaams masquerading as muslims.

when you have an army thats busy having high tea with Americans when their drones are busy abusing your own sovereign territory, what more can one say?
in sonagachi, calcutta, they say, the husband will bring you daru, when you are at it with his wife, and i poor sod thought that was the lowliest life one can site as an example.
im mistaken, though. poor old Jinnah , if and only your ilk were half as decent as you?!
