I enjoyed your article a lot. Driving in our cities is the test of survival of the fittest. They way we all drive it is a miracle so many people reach their destinations in one piece.

Thanks Fouz.
Interesting yardstick for successful driving: survival. Hmmmm :)
Thanks Delirium.
Indeed, the Rickshaw drivers deserve their share of praise. Love the Punjabi sentence :)

A delightful read brimming with satire.
An ironic reflection of the civic sense that prevails today and the state of disarray we find ourselves in.
Driving me crazy! Yeah that's what it does to me everytime I hit the road. Things are no better in Lahore and Rwp/Isbd are catching up fast too and what to speak of the driving feats displayed on the roads of urban centers like Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sialkot ? Simply amazing and enviable!
It would be highly unjust not to mention the unearthly skills rampantly exhibited by our rickshaw drivers on a spree. The best tribute and recognition of their mastery and accomplishment that I can think of perhaps came from one of the Friday times writers when he said " aga paa diyo peechlaa apey hee lung jai gaa".

Xoheb, great article and great insights too :)
Thats me you are talking about. 15 years of karachi driving experience on a bet up 20 year old mehran, never bother about indicators, always keep the lane markings betwen my tyres and never take my finger away from the horn. Sparingly use the right mirror; left almost never. Drive with one foot on the clutch and one on accelerator and who cares about pedestrians anyway?.
Have survived. So it means my way is the right way. :P

Xoheb Sheikh
A wonderful, humorous article with a wise satire on survival and competition that turns us into animals. Allah karay zor-e-qalam aur ziyada. You should suggest conducting road-test in a maut-ka-kuwan.
