i really can't do anything abt ur shortsightedness. I havn't jumped to any conclusions even 'the Attacker' is not pointed out as any one particular xyz. However Fanatics like u create ppl like lashkaray jahngwi How? Easy __u guys are just like the religious extremist ,bigots, with a difference , swinging to other extreme 'anti-moulwi views'. Ppl like you have unconciously made Religion a Moulwi’s property and then pathetically defined Moulwi as any one with a beard. You and all other ppl like you who live in symbols are especially perplexed in this new ironical situation where singers like Junaid Jamsheed one day appear on tv with bearded face and a guitar in hand, where in recent lahore attaks even a woman was found fighting... What’s going on! Any educated person if grows a beard is made to feel guilty abt it,“oye moiuwli ho gyaa hay’. We needed to create an environment where ppl could feel free to practice their beilieves, 'veil or no veil', should be their chocie; moulwi or no moulwi is a fanatical approach Similarly elements of intolerance and extremeism should be wiped off . But ppl llike you have braught pakistan to this state where things are seen as white n black & all is terribly divided by two extremes. Result is a lurking bloodshed and approaching civil war.

Well friend, actually u hvn't got the point i have tried to raise. Your frenzic reply therefore hammers on how islam is full of bigotism and arabs are ayash and backwards !Now abt what i have tried to say: Generally Pakistan has been incapable of taking decisions as a gracefull independent nation (which it surely is) and have been relying on Others. As far you rely on others to do ur chores u end up in disaster. Sure this is what Pakistan is in today. Secondly to unite and stand for one another or to atleast able to objection at somehing objectionable takes courage and character __lacking in Muslim world( it is obvious.) Israel gets all the support for its brutality__ world knows it. When it attacks other s or when it feels isolated and suppressed world sympathises. America did not need a natural calamity and disaster to unite against terrror attacks of 9/11. This spirit lacked in Arab countries when Iraq attacked on Kuwait. Arabs could have faught it themselves , only if they have stood united. But they relied on America and suffered the consequences. (Arab’s fault of-course) Thing is that muslims should stand for humanity and erase injustice or terrorism. Islam is abt tolerance, forgiveness and peace instead of revange murder and terror. But unfortunately this is not happening and this is why common man who knows at heart ‘something should be done abt it’ is miserable and upset like the flock of hen i quoted in previous interact.
All i want is that ppl should come up with some strategic ways to deal with the problem Like revoultionalising the madrasa system and keep checks for on the ‘chanda’ gathered by religious ppl to make sure they dont end up in hands of extremist and misused etc etc. But they can’t even elect a gov. Of their own choice as the writer of the related article has said. America can only help by providing lethal weapons to use againt taliban in pakistan; and then soon on us .... Everthing will be swept away in this wave of anarchy if we do not stand and take sane actions.{ as you can see first Afhghanistan then Peshawar and now Punjab...and some duffers amid all this will be left looking for bearded men to crush them...for God sake widen your visions.}
Just for ur info my nick is suggestive of tragic

India should learn from the Pakis' best friends, the Chinese, how to deal with this kind of problem. This is the ONLY way. The ONLY language they understand.
Xinjiang rioters get death sentence
BEIJING – A court in western China’s Xinjiang region sentenced six people to death yesterday in the first trials over July 5 riots that left nearly 200 people dead, state-run television reported.
China Central Television (CCTV) said one other defendant was sentenced to life in prison over the unrest, the worst ethnic violence to hit China in decades.
During the rioting, members of the ethnic Uighur minority – most of whom are Muslims – went on a rampage in attacks directed mainly at members of China’s dominant Han ethnic group.
The riots left 197 people dead, most of them Han, according to the government.
Officials at the Urumqi court refused to immediately confirm the sentences when contacted by AFP, but CCTV said the death sentences were meted out due to the severity of the crimes.
Those sentenced appeared to all have Uighur names.
Police have detained at least 718 people suspected of crimes related to the unrest, earlier reports said.
State-controlled Xinhua news agency quoted the city’s prosecutor late last month saying 21 people had so far been charged with crimes including homicide, arson, robbery and property damage related to the riots.
Footage broadcast by CCTV showed deserted streets in front of the Urumqi court, with riot police out in force.
Urumqi has been under extremely heavy security since the riots, tightened amid a wave of needle attacks beginning in late August which Han have blamed on Uighurs.

haneef.gujar #17: I think Nawaz Sharif is doing his patriotic duty in sitting in the sidelines and not interfering with the Zardari government, which could provide opportunities to the invaders (they are more than mere terrorists, given that their goal is to actually take-over Pakistan). But I agree with you - he should have run for bye-elections. And if the Saudi king gave some "brotherly advice" to Nawaz Sharif - NS should come out in the open about it. It should not be treated as a state secret.

Macbeth #18 Before reaching conclusions, one must understand the facts. I feel sorry for people like you who hear nothing but the distortion and lies that are prevalent in Pakistan when it comes to anything to do with "arab brothers". Because people like you have been so badly fooled, Pakistan is in a state of civil war rather than at peace with itself and focussing on economic progres.

Friend, your post is as melancholy as your nick. The non-Muslim world has gone far ahead because ir has divested itself of the bigotism which we see in Islam today. You feel isolated and helpless because you think religion and Allah is the be all and end all of life. If that had been the case hundreds of millions of Muslims in Asia and Africa blessed by Allah would not have been living in backwardness and misery while a few Arabs continue to live a life of ayyashi. Please get out of your mental ghetto, learn to coexist with people of other faiths and nobody will attack you. As for other Muslims not extending a helping hand, every country on the planet looks after its interests, religious brotherhood and ummah and all such things are only in words. that is true for individuals as well. True brotherhood will always show up when it is really required, in the times of natural calamities, catastrophes , for example.

Look Mr., if you have voted for something called Pakistan ( musla nation), then you should have expected this, knowing fully well that musla barbarism will not be tolerated by civilised world and your opponents are equipped with advanced weapon systems....what earstwhile heroes of Pakistan did in 14th/15th century ( central asian and arab looters), can not be replicated in current time, even if arabic moon god (Allah) relocates from Arabia to Pakistan to help you guys....

i am going to quote an example i once heard to depict the psyche and situation of our ppl. Our nation is acting like a flock of hens that is caged and feeling terribly suffocated. The butcher puts his hand in the cage almost after every half an hour and drags a hen out.He slaughters it immediately. All other hen can see it and make noises in desparation and yet do nothing but await their brutal fate. Not just pakistani as a natioon but muslims in particular all over the world have been acting thus. The calamity that has fallen on us today is a result of this submissive and coward attitude that we have adopted. Even today many would think that its peshawar and they are safe coz they do not live there.Just like we all thought when America bombard Iraq and Afghanistan killinf several innocent civilians we thoght yeah its bad but we live in Pakistan. Dear fellows i guess its time we see a crisis of one muslim as all muslim's , a pain of our fellows as ours and do something abt it otherwise we will soon be swallowd by such lethal attacks never minding who the attacker is!

muqaddam: if all that the chicken had done was come home and roost, they would probably have gotten away with it. trouble is - they proved even more stupid than us, and instead of roosting in the chicken coop like good chicken, they decided they wanted to take over the farmhouse and specify the dress code for the farmer and his wife.
so now instead of roosting chicken in Pakistan we are going to have roasted chicken, because while the farmer is stupid, he is not as stupid as the chicken.

Rehman Malik, Home Minister in an interview to BBC during the Rawalpindi siege said - "We got success in Swat and so the enemies of Pakistan dont like it".
One wonders who are Pakistanis enemies? The Afghani Talibs who were created by Pakistan ISI? The Pakistani Talibs through whom the Pakistani army supplies weapons for the guerrilla war in Afghanistan and who it expects to lay a bridgehead for the Pakistani army's march into Afghanistan just in case NATO fails and withdraws? Or the Al Qaeda who were revered in Pakistan as Islam's true heroes and whose leader continues to hide in Pakistan under Pakistani protection?
Once again the chickens are coming home to roost. Pakistan's so called grand strategy(this time aimed at gaining strategic depth in the event of a war with India) is again coming apart.
An operation in South Waziristan means sure alienation of the Pathan tribe - fodder for Pakhtoon nationalism, the results of which are obvious for anyone to see.
A sane advice to Pakistani leadership - mend your relations with India and you will not need any hare-brained strategies to take you from one rout to another.

What we have in Pakistan is "lip service" to Islam. The army uses it when it suits them, the politicians use it when it suits them, ordinary people use it when it suits, and of course who can forget the mullah- he who watches satellite tv late into the night and next morning tells his followers not to do the same.
What we need is a change of mindset. Given the way we glorify Arabs in Islamiat studies- it is but natural many people grow up having a soft spot for Arabs. A soft spot even when Arab governments and their citizens are engaged in all sorts of criminal acts in Pakistan! What we need to do is emphasize local culture. The day that we can understand that we can be proud Pakistani's- appreciative of its many cultures-that will be a beautiful day.

Militant leader who led attack on Pakistan Army base is one of many defectors
The leader of the attack on the Pakistani Army’s headquarters is one of several former military officers and soldiers to have joined Islamic militant groups.
Security officials have identified him as Mohammed Aqeel and said that he was in the medical corps before joining militants based in the northwestern tribal region of North Waziristan.
Earlier this year police arrested Major Haroon Rashid who, they said, worked for al-Qaeda and the Pakistani Taleban and was involved in the murder of a retired general who led special forces against the militants.
The major quit the army in 2001 after Pakistan supported the US-led invasion of Afghanistan and went to Waziristan to train militants, security sources say.

wajahat: good post. islam has been used to betray Pakistan - instead of being a source of character building, it has been used to sap their character by providing them
"ways to beat the system". e.g. do the hajj, and your sins are washed away. say "Allah, Allah" and you become pious regardless of how much evil you have carried out. worse - it has provided a teflon-cover to the arabs. Even as arab invaders are inside Pakistan, even as zawahiri appoints taliban leaders and has openly declared his intention to attack pakistanis - you hardly hear a mention of these arab invaders in the pakistani press. All fingers point to these mythical "zionists" - who have committed the unpardonable offense of angering God's Chosen People, the Arabs.
Until the maulvi is cut down to size, until the rubbish like dars are shut down, Pakistanis will continue to be enslaved to the most ingorant and backward individuals on earth - in the name of islam!!

I want to begin by thanking you for sharing with us your experience of this extreme barbarity that you and your daughter and thousands of other innocent pakistanis witnessed in peshawar, it must not be an easy thing. I felt each of your heart wrenching words as though I was there with you so kudos to your writing ability. I feel each day we are loosing our country and our sense of who we are. In this land that millions laid their life down to give us a secure homeland, their progeny are now waiting for the murderous bell to toll. One can imagine the impact violence on young children as I too have witnessed horrible things growing up in Pakistan. We have truly lost our way and the pigs who rule us continue to do nothing and keep hiding in their fortresses in these trying times. The most unfortunate thing however is that no matter how much we deny and excuse ourselves, these murderers are coming from within us. Their purpose is to scare us into submission, their aim is to rule with fear and bomb our freedoms away, one by one. And we sit here in our numb state wondering at the irony of creating a land where one day we will not be safe and our children will die. That day is certainly here and there is nothing much we can do about it. This requires not a single hero who leads us, but for each of us to grab hold and shake the hero within us to take personal responsibility in order to stop this state of affair. But I doubt that we as a people can come up with such a response, as we are too busy protecting our personal one and half brick mosques.

Waziristan operation imminent: Malik
* Qaeda hand suspected in GHQ attack
* Army chief given mandate for Waziristan operation
* ‘Good number’ of militants in Waziristan
SINGAPORE: A long-planned operation to flush out the Taliban and Al Qaeda from South Waziristan is imminent, said the government on Sunday, and blamed Al Qaeda-backed militants for the attack on the military’s General Headquarters (GHQ).
“It has been decided, the civilian leadership has decided ... the operation is imminent,” Interior Minister Rehman Malik told Reuters in an interview in Singapore.
Hours earlier, Pakistani commandos rescued 39 people taken hostage in an attack on GHQ.
19 killed as jets hit Taliban hideouts in South Waziristan
LAHORE: At least 19 militants have been killed in airstrikes on Taliban hideouts in two different areas of South Waziristan, a private TV channel reported on Sunday. According to the channel, Pakistan Air Force jets bombarded two Taliban hideouts in Makeen, where 13 militants were killed, and Ladha where six others were killed. Separately, Lashkars of tribesmen destroyed three Taliban hideouts in Lakki Marwat area of Shami Khel. Also on Sunday, security personnel arrested at least 29 militants during search operations in Hangu, a private TV channel reported. Quoting police sources the channel reported that at least 11 suspected militants had been arrested from Tal and another 18 from the Duaba area. daily times monitor

American imperialists spend at least 2 billion dollars a week to keep Afghanistan and Pakistan sunjugated through direct violence and violence through their minions and terrorists like MQM, PP, and napak fouj on Pakistani citizens etc. Yes, they can destroy our homes, sponsor carnage in our bazars, masjids, churches, and Imam Bargahs and kill our citizens but they cannot subjugate us as long as there is even one Muhammad Shahid left in Pakistan:

A LAW graduate of the Punjab University on Saturday refused to receive a gold medal from Governor/Chancellor Salman Taseer, registering his protest against the silence of the PPP government over the May 12, 2007, incident in Karachi.
The top position holder of session 2004-07 of LLB programme, Muhammad Shahid, went onto the stage but did not receive medal from the governor. He asked the governor why no action was being taken against those responsible for the 12 May incident although the PPP government knew that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was behind for it.
“The lawyers were burnt alive and people were killed publicly,” he said, questioning the governor that why those responsible were not being brought to justice.
After registering his protest, the student left the stage and did not receive the medal although he was offered the medal twice by the governor. The unexpected move of the student stunned everyone present.
Talking to the media, the student said the purpose of his protest was to make the government realise its duties. He said: “I asked the governor why the PPP government was silent over the issue as the MQM was part of the government.”
