This is the stuff of Pakistani “filmi” magazines like Shama. I can’t believe it.

Saqi kay muta-aliq puta chala or bauhut afsoos hua kay un say majlis-o-mulaqat ka ``chance`` na milaa.

Jahan tak Umair ka sawal hai to bhai Umair Mian shreef aadmi hain or un ki sharaafat pay shak karne walay loug ziyadah arsay chowk per nazar nahin aatay. Hum nazar aa rahain hain, yeh un ki hi meherbaaniyaan hain. Khuda unhain khoosh rakhay. Mera khayal hai kay Umair sahib ki list kuch ziyada lumbi ho gayee hai or shayad hum tak aataay aataay un kay dil main reham ka jazbaa jaag uthay.

My keyboard is about ready to burst right into my face, if I continue this. How about if we carry this discussion in the homestead lounge. I have left a message there asking for Urdu word processors other than Urdu web.

Umair Bhai Jaan,

Baad Aadaab ek maaroozah gosh guzaar karna thaa. Is Faqir-e-purtaqseer ki shayiri or Urdu Nasar us darjey or maqaam ki mutaamil nahin kay jis darjay pay un tamaam tehreeroun ka hona zuroori hai kay jo aap kay ``Urdu Web`` main likhi jain.

Inshaallah-ul-Aziz, Qibla temporal, aap say Homestead lounge main mulaqat ka ishtayaaq rahay ga.

Tub tu kay liyah Fee(Tuition wali nahin) Amaan- illah.

Sorry yaar, but from your other interactions I had a perception that you are a serious student of Urdu poetry. If I am wrong ignore the rest.

The last two evenings were exhilarating. Saqi Farooqui was in town. Had two great sessions with him. Very late evenings. The first evening he read some of his poems in his unique passionate way. The second evening we discussed trends, personalities, state of Urdu-- a great tour de force. Because he was here for three days only I had to change other plans in order to spend time with Saqi; which meant no Super Bowl, no late night cricket.

Lest Umair sends out another hit squad, I would comment on Doctor sahib`s effort.

Dr. Butt:

But Dr. Butt, there should be some things sacrosanct. But for the fact that you do display a sense of humour........but for the fact you took the trouble.....but why Faiz? I had a strong urge to let it go, but could not resist butting in, and but for my respect for Faiz and but for the love you display for him in your own way I would not but in anymore.

How about Chucha Ghalib next time?!

MUDDAT HOI HAY DOC KO MEHMAAN KIYE HU`AYE

Is Saqi supposed to visit Chicagoland area. Do you know. Where are you located, if you don`t mind my asking this. Is he still there.

Temporal,

You are correct. I am a student of Urdu Poetry and a pretty darn serious one at that but I do appreciate humour even if it comes from a guy who did not send his fish to college. I mean, the humanity.

Love Faiz, love his poetry, his ideology (not a total Marxist, but trust me a few more years in the Grand, Free, Old US of A and I just might get there), his passion. I wish that I could find a decent Urdu word processor so I could partake in developing the Urdu section of chowk, which IMHO, remains as the most under developed section of the chowk. Do you know of any? Anyone, except the Urdu web, which I feel is not a proper Urdu word processor.

Very entertaining.

Wonder what Faiz would have thought.

Very quaint! While some people don`t have an appreciation for ``mazaaqya shyari``, I myself find it very clever and creative. At times, I would think that writing such verses is more difficult than serious poetry.

Having a sense of humor about one`s work is also refreshing to see, especially since doctors seem to be such a serious bunch :)

Re: ShahbazC

Hard to imagine Ghalib opting for programming :)

I must admit, I had made it a habit to skip any thing published on the chowk that claimed to be poetry. This one, however, was a pleasent surprise.

I believe Ghalib would have made a good computer science student. After a few nights of mind numbing programming, he would have said:

kab se hooN kia bataooN, jahane kharab meN...
