RE: Temporal

Good idea. I will consider writing on Sohail Rana or another personality, though I would like to know them in depth before I pick up a pen. Thanks

Nadir

Nadir:

If you have the time, interest and energy how about some more articles on the likes of S.B. John, Suraiyya Multanikar, Salim Raza, Sohail Rana, etc.?

Outstanding article, Nadir. Impressively researched, superbly written. (The only problem is, now I can`t get these damned songs out of my head!)

RE: Temporal

Based on your candid comments about various articles posted on chowk, I know that you are a very learned person. Your encouragement of my effort means alot to me. Thanks

RE: AA

Since I have been a fan of Waheed Murad and also know a little bit about him, I wanted to share my information with other people who may be interested in WM. I do not know what were the specific differnces between Waheed and his wife, but I am reasonably sure, based on my reading, that the couple were facing problems. WM did not only want to perform the role of a play boy on the screen, but probably wanted to do the same in his real life. That obviously can contribute to marital problems.

``Akaily na Jaana?``

He came and left too soon. Waheed Murad is/was
a reminder of a time when Pakistan could be
a whole lot of fun for his many fans.

Now we all just have to wait for Qazi Hussain Ahmad`s next performance in a leading role.

Abdul Nadir, thanks very much for the trip down
memory lane.

Ras

Nadir:

Great entertaining, informative article on Weedu--- Waheed Murad.

With regularity we come across stories about artists and sportsmen who achieve great fame in a short time, but are ill prepared to cope with success. They invariably meet with tragic ends.
Three names just surfaced -- Freddy Prince and the music idol Cobain, and TupakShakoor.. The common thread in their tragedies are the lack of education and confidence factors. Sadly, Waheed was educated, suave and confident. His inability to transform from a hero to an actor lost it for him. In the last years he was sustained by a death wish frenzy. Drugs did him in. His willingness or inability to rise above it can be debated.

sadly,

Thank you for writing about Waheed Murad! And I thought I was the only fan remaining in the 90s. Waheed Murad was not just a great actor, he was and is incredibly sexy and charismatic. As a very young child, I considered him to be the only true hero worth watching a Lollywood for. Nadeem was just a singer. Muhammad Ali ..well was too old for his roles. Shahid just didn`t cut it.

What inspired you to write this piece? I really enjoyed reading it...do you know anything about his love life? Was he estranged from his wife?

Last December I was at some function with the chief justice and his wife was sitting in front of me. Incidentally, we have a black and white photograph of his wedding and both of them look adorable in the picture. His wife (I forget her name) was looking good - and I had this incredible urge to touch her on the shoulder and ``do afsos`` about Wahedd Murad`s untimely death. But, thank god, I didn`t. She would thought me a weirdo!
