Ferozek:
Man, I did not see the point of this excercize from the beginning. Not that the Republicans were unaware of the fact that they did not have enough votes, I think, they were just too proud to back down after realizing that touting the ``due procedure`` call is not going to help them.
Feroze, I am not sure what is it that you wanted to see at the end. Did you want to see Clinton removed just because we had gone through this one year of agony in the media? Wouldn`t you consider that to be a little excessive.

Thanks to all who replied. This poem being on the Clinton-Lewinsky saga, I was not accepting much of a response since the subject has already been beaten to death.
Re: Fozia, Ras Siddiqi, Silvahl, afrasiyb and Temporal
Fozia, I agree with you. The American media has focused on this story to the exclusion of all else. This story was generated by the media for media ratings and the media is the one which has kept this story alive.
Ras Siddiqui:
You can indeed hope that life will go on......and I know you are tired, but still that is not a promise; this story is far from over!
Silvahl:
Thanks for your words! More than the story itself, the poem is a refelction of how I felt during the crisis.
Afrasiyab:
There was no hope in the poem, because I wrote it the night the Senate voted to accquit Clinton. I was tired and I was depressed. I was not depressed at the verdict. I knew realistically that there were not enough votes in the Senate to find Clinton guilty. I was depressed because a whole year was wasted on this issue and there was nothing left to show for it.
I was tired, because having devoted a year to this cause, I needed to move forward and beyond this issue, but I knew that it was a false dream. You see my friend, I have been in politics too long and I know how the game is played. To be perfectly honest with you, I love the process more than I love the results and that is the only reason why I stay in politics.
I have often thought about leaving politics, because, though I am not blameless, I do not agree with the cheapening and the vulgarization of the political process presently underway. The only thing which keeps me interested and ``in the arena`` is because this is the only game which stimulates my senses and quickens my blood!!!!!
Temporal:
As usual, you correctly identified the lines which summed up my feelings about the whole crisis!

Feroz,
As a Republican, I`m sure you have a million+ reasons for wanting Clinton impeached. The columnist at:
http://www.canoe.ca/Columnists/margolis.html is not a big fan of Clinton either.
As for me, I am really bored with US politics especially the media coverage on it. It`s all too much like a cheap talk show (aka Jerry Springer).
There could be a major civil war brewing in a country, natural disaster in another, or a new Nobel Prize winning scientific discovery made and all the US media (and to a large extent Canadian media) can talk about is what is Clinton`s definition of ``sexual relation``?
Sigh
Fozia

One can only sympathize with all Republican
readers. But I am sure glad that it is over.
Time to move on (Can`t I hope?)
Ras

``Yet in all my sightless reveries,
He smiles; his face before my muted eyes
Searing my thoughts with sadness.``
Man, the audacity of that hillbilly.
To all the Republicans out there, including Ferozek, sorry but then again, no.
Temporal,
I think this poem could have used a little touch of hope. I see that it has a glimmer of that hope but I am not sure if it is for moving on to real issues or for that Broderick chic from Arkansas.

Feroz:
Interesting thoughts.
Enjoyed the lines ``Tonight the game of life renews again`` and ``And tomorrow is another regret.``
This is another dimension you have revealed.
(afrasiyab, do you want to discuss something here?)
regards
