Chip on the shoulder economics

The `chip on the shoulder` seems to be a sub-continental trait. I am a member of a couple of e-groups of indians and the things they can fight over amazes me. A description of dal roti chawal can make people start accusing others of all kinds of midless things. You`d never think a discussion of how to cook food can lead to a political war. I m sure all of us have gone through such experiences.

Well put Dr.Samad. Very true indeed.

I agree with the Dr. Samad`s points concerning the unfortunate tendancy of many people to focus on ``who`` the person is rather than ``what`` the person is saying. It is said that small minds discuss other people, while big minds discuss issues and ideas. and that good negotiators are soft on people but hard on issues. Moral: dont expect the other person is ``all ears`` while you deliver your monologue (i am told that the average person listens attentively only to the first 7 seconds and to the last 7 seconds of what you said).
