well well...i have come across nice paksitani women.
I retorted just because...most of the pakistani men form stereotyped impressions about indian women just because they dress up not as conservatively as most pakistani women..
now, their(indian) society is more open, liberated and forward looking so an indian women has to be educated and goes out for her job as expected of her by her society. But they are conservative in their hearts.

Wow!! Balle-balle!!

This is modern yaar. Ultra modern Pakistani girl.

`Bhartiya-naari` is nothing in front of this chic Rubina.. even those gyrating, hip-swinging, singing bollywood types are simpler than Ruby.

And look at the scenario in Kashmir(India)...`Three women beheaded by terrorists for not wearing veil` . What a sorry state of things

The plots thicken....Citrus was so in house! All the refs to Chowkies....but it was pretty interesting, esp. Rubina`s multi dimensionality....I can`t read the interacts for that one yet, although its a great idea to be able to read how Chowkies reacted to the story then...

I don`t know how applicable this is to men but some research showed that `all` men wanted two types of women:

1) A short-term relationship with the `whore` kind who could provide them with fun but this kind would not be respected or expected to deal with anything serious or long-term.

2) The respected `cook in the kitchen and lady in the lounge` kind which a man could respect and look forward to a long-term relationship with. Nevertheless, this kind is not the fire cracker that (1) is.

Sounds like a very confused version of alpha-male-esque or survival and progression of the genes kinda behaviour...actually, come to think of it, you don`t really need to read a scientific journal to learn this...of course it`s unfair to label all men that way.

Samina- You`re right.. Rubina`s character is quite intriguing. Shes smart and sassy and not afraid to speak openly, which is great. But its the context in which she speaks which is kind of shocking to me. I mean the conversation was a bit juvenile don`t you think? I agree with eslurf- the words used were.. lets just say careless.. but who knows perhaps this is the way conversations should be? Open to all.. say what you want, how you want, when you want it I suppose..

AS for the fantasy.. its weird, the virgin fantasy vs the whore fantasy.. I can`t seem to get a grasp of which is the more favored fantasy when it comes to finding a wife.. I mean this conversation seems to have the undertones of more of a permanent relationship as opposed to a casual one no? maybe thats my interpretation of it...

Eslurf,
What does it say about them?

Aaria,

Yeah...its a bit confusing....I guess what I liked about Rubina is that apparently she has a brain, and the cojones (pardon my Espanol) to say what she needs to say without fear of recourse...and whats cool about Kamran is that while he`s a bit intimidated by her, he`s brave enough to follow through...what I thought was fantasy was Rubina`s ``talking dirty`` bits...I totally agree with you that there is this virgin/girl fantasy that many men have and Pakistani men as well...but the other side of that popular imagination dictomy is ``the whore``, to whom men are attracted to and repulsed by...when Rubina indicates that she is intellectually, artistically, spiritually and physically (we arent sure) adventurous, the author leaves room for reader interpretation...readers like me will think Rubina`s way cool, if not a bit unwise in having this conversation with an unknown, unseen male who knows her parents thru his parents, but another reader may have a more reductive interpretation of her character....and notice how Kamran escapes unanalysed? :)
After reading the interacts, (which were fun btw, where are these interactors nowadays?) I got the feeling that some male interactors want women to be more like Rubina....so, here we have another set of criteria to perform so we can please the guys....
I must be really square...my husband and I talk about everything under the sun, but neither of us have reached the level of innuendo this couple reaches...
what did you think of Kamran?

I am a bleeding liberal about all this freedom of speech on the first phone call thingy, but I do find the language used in this particular ``first`` conversation to be a bit careless.
Perhaps the third conversation.....
or maybe after they met....
hmm....
it does say a lot about them both though...

#65 by aaria. Aaria, it is not a question of good or bad, it all depends on what a man finds interesting. Sometimes you just click with a girl and open up during the first conversation, which may lead to getting married.

I m am not too sure that such conversations are a fantasy. If a man is unable to communicate openly with his wife, what is the whole relationship about?

Samina-

Is this really a fantasy conversation guys want to have with potential wives? That`s an interesting concept.. and all this while I thought they wanted to good innocent type..

Kamran,

Is this your dream or your story?

To make the sequel interesting, get Rubina to write it. Would like to hear more about the Lahori lesbian scene.

Aaria,

The dialogue was cute and amusing and daring, but damn, first of all, how many Pakistani/Indian women risk their reps being ruined with just the rumor of impropriety? And one of the interactors was accurate when she suspected it was a male fantasy of a ``certain kind`` of Pakistani woman....I`m really interested in reading different viewpoints...

#1 by vakeel on unknown date. Being either ``western`` or eastern is not necessarily cool. Just being oneself is cool. You are right this was not appropriate first conversation, but sometimes when you feel relaxed in another person`s company you may actually feel comfortable in being yourself.

My experience with desi girls in the US has been that they generally do prefer to go out with western men. One of the reasons for doing this may be anonimity, since with a foreign man, the chances of any stories or gossip trickling back would be minimum.

I don`t see what the big deal is....personally I thought there was a certain charm to the whole thing. Talk to me, Kamran, I can appreciate you (and your 6-figure salary) a lot more than Rubina can. ;)``

I guess a six figure salary does count.
