There is a letter from someone critisising presnt
military governament in Pakistan.
I would like to ask this gentleman if he ever bothered to write to these thieves hiding under covers of democracy about what they are doing to the country. Did he ever have the courage to ask these plundrers that there are 125mil people in this country who`s lives are affected by any smallest action . Did he ask him not to just run the country just to boost uplift and give fake identity as honourable citizens (while they were dacoits and thieves of highest order).
These masked champions of democracy are resposible
for situation which exists. They were pharoah`s of this century - they thought that with help of these street mullahs they will win the hearts and brains of poor and inocent people of this country - they thought they would be able to exploit inadequate worldly educational skill; but these pharoahs forgot that there is ``GOD`` ever-existing and controls these pharoahs too.
Why do we cry now when God has sent someone to save the nation and bring to the right path `only with the help of God Almighty` and rest assured if these people do the same thing which their predeccessors did, then they are bound to meet the same fate or worse. Why do we foget history and keep repeating it? Why is our analysis always very shallow and without reason but full of favouritisim. My friends, rise above and suggest the fairest possible things which you can for this country and do not support or favour ``Rangeelas``
of the age only and only follow the right path which is shown by Prophet Mohammad, Peace and God`s blessings be on him and the religion--which is complete and most modern. ``Islam`` should be followed in its right spirit without distorting it using it for political purposes or leaving to illiterate street mullahs. The Quran is a book to be read and understood in its totality does not need any junkie illeterate maulvi`s interpretation. We should only get inspired by sunnah and deeds of Prophet Mohammad`s
``peace be on him`` and those of his companions. The Quran, which is a complete code of life, morality, culture, governace and most of all human dignity and rights. Another
system which will be tried here is bound to fail as all systems are subserviant of our system given by God though our holy book ``quran-e-hakeem``,the only thing we have to do is keep it as is and iterpret it the way it says and practiced by ``Holy Prophet Mohammad e mustafa salala ho alai wasalaam`` and we should reject and condenm any other biased or prejuidicial interpretation.
I think instead of criticising him to favour somebody or some regime lets resort to our way of
doing things ``let`s pray`` for betterment of country and may God give those in charge the strength to do the righteous things faithfuly, honestly and most of all fairly according to islamic injunctions.
The only thing after praying we can do is to suggest good things to rulers and keep praying that whatever is suggested is good for country - humanity should be implemented and executed in true spirit.
I think we should see the regimes of Z.A Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto (twice) and Nawaz Sharif and most importantly regime of Gen.Zia ul haq which created so many problems of drugs, arms and other destabilising factors in the country.
Always question - ``are we honest and sincere in spirit of these words?`` and then say something.
I apologise for any mis-spelled words and gramatical inadequacies, just focus to the spirit of this writting. GOD BLESS EVERYBODY WHO SO EVER READS IT AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND AND DISCUSS IT WITH
RATIONALITY.

Salaam to everyone:
Here is my two cents on the issue:
During the so-called democratic terms of Benazir
Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, over 6000 people died in Karachi.
Karachi became a `City of corpses`. Life was
paralyzed. People were afraid to step out of their homes. Eventually the army came in and brought the killing fields under control, but they came too late for the 6000 or so, every one of whom died a horrible death.
Then we have the Shia-Sunni killings going on unabated under the so-called `democratic` regimes.
The total for these killings also over these `democratic` years is in the thousands as well.
And just before Nawaz Sharif was `deposed`, an average of 20 people a day were dying in these senseless killings with high powered weapons.
There has been no more of this killing since Oct 12, so atleast 600 citizens of Pakistan today, Nov 13, owe their being alive to Gen. Musharraf.
So the choice is straight and stark. Do the Pakistanis want to live in fear and among of stench of death and blood spattered mosque walls
endlessly, till the whole drama comes to a full
bloodied civil war? Only for the sake of Western style democracy. or they they let the military rule them and can atleast live and feel like human beings.
All these Monday morning quarter-backs in USA and UK and elsewhere who are vehement in their anti-Musharraf rhetoric, should get a grip, put themselves in the shoes of a poor Pakistani school
child whose parents are afraid to send her to school, and when she is walking to school past the
piles of debris, broken roads, past stray cats and dogs, uncontrolled pollution of all kinds, and now dead bodies of tortured sons of the ``Land of the Pure``.....
Come on folks, get a grip. We have seen over and over now, and close to 10,000 have died so far to prove that democracy is not for Pakistan, like it is not for Saudi Arabia, not for Kuwait and many other `undemocratic` Islamic countries.
Tell me one, just ONE Islamic country, which is `democratic` and where people are not living in hell and terror.
So we have to face the fact the bottom line that Islam and Democracy do not mix together.
Democracy, esp the Western style is a game of luxury for the rich nations.
Let us stop playing the pretending game.
IMHO Pakistan has gone down the path of hatred and killings in the name of Islam, for over 50 years
and this is the pits. If you go in the wrong direction for 50 miles, it will take you no less than 50 miles to return to the cross roads.
Same way there is no easy way out of 50 years of hatred and killings. Infact the medicine now is extremely painful like Chemotherapy. And the only medicine that can now work for Pakistan is for it to be declared a Secular State in which religious or ethnic hatred is a crime
punishable by public hanging. Same for corruption.
And no democracy can deliver this medication to Pakistan, only the military can.
Without this medication, folks, the red lines and green lines of Beirut are only a few months away in Pakistan.
Wake up and smell the blood.....

Pakistan has taken over by a military ruler who doesn`t care much about democracy for if he would have cared a penny for the democracy, he could have won in a open election. This i have said because of his statement that people of pakistan do support him. The big question whether the people of pakistan support him with their heart or with fear or without the knowledge of what military rule could bring yo the country.
It will bring nothing but dampening spirits towards life and threat to the basic principle of humanity.
World and people of pakistan have to think whether neighbouring nations like India with whom they have a negative relationship could be secure without any tension. Would they ever sign upon NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION TREATY or CTBT upon which world leaders have put so much thrust upon India and not upon Pakistan till today. And a big question arises whether Pakistan would ever sign with military regime taking over.

Dear Bina Shah,
As an american of indian heritage, I had no doubts in my mind that the Indian army`s high alert after the coup was more of a defensive move than an offensive one. It never crosses my mind that India`s army would cross the border and declare war, during the crisis. This is the average level of confidence an Indian has over its army. What is shameful that the average joe who is so confident of his people cannot reassure the average joe across the border. I sincerely believe that it is politics to blame. India and Pakistan can acheive normalcy only if we the common people do not get hyped about our neighbour`s intention and fall prey to politicians, divide and rule policy a legacy of British Raj.

What I wanna know is, how many of these writers have `actually done something in/for pakistan?`
I mean, they keep preaching all this crap, but are you doing something yourself? Surprise me and give me an example of anyone contributing to this website of something they have done in the past to correct pakiland.
ICEBERG---i`m with you bro...i think its all melodramatic BS...
So instead of `ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your contry,` these guys probably follow `write all this junk, but don`t ever get out there and do something yourself. Try and make others feels guilty....
advice to budding writers--ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!!!!

In response to snahmed (Reply #: 26)
Dear snahmed:
An excellent write up. I agree with you that ``there was no democracy in Pakistan.`` In fact, this was a sham democracy. Democracy cannot be reduced to mere electoral politics. Even electoral politics in Pakistan has been highly corrupt.
The focus of your posting is good and to the point. You have said many good things. However, I don`t agree with your statement/question: ``How could we blame army when Nawaz sharif and his parasites left no legal and constitutional way to oust him?`` You seem to underestimate the power of common people. Most dictators in Pakistan (including Nawaz Sharif) were removed from office as a result of public opinion and/or protest. Finally, Army is a major source of Pakistan`s problems. Even people like Air Marshall Asghar would agree with me. As I understand, he wants the military expenditure to be reduced drastically.
Sincerely, Bilal Ahmad

I `m totally against the illegat action of Army. Our country cant afford to have elections now & then. I think Nawaz Sharif should be given a chance to complete his term.
Its easy to critize & make stories but we should not forget that atleast he has done something for the country.
We all have heard the story of General pervaiz ...lets hear what Sharif has to say.....Come on we should give him a chance TOO !...

How could we support democracy when there was no democracy in pakistan?
How could we blame army when Nawaz sharif and his parasites left no legal and constitutional way to oust him?
How could we care about democracy when in 12 years what we got were more miseries, economical crisis, sectarian wars, Nationalism, provincialism and racism, poverty, anarchy, loot of our wealth and hard earnings by those whom we put in national and provincial assemblies and assumed that they were going to be our guards, no rule of law, corrupt judges, corrupt administration on all levels, suicides, killings, insecurity, and more and more of these attitudes.
What we really care is peace, financial stability, rule of law, security, equality, freedom to practice religion and beliefs, seletion for opportuinities everywhere on merit basis and so on
I do not care that `` the team of good people `` are from where? and what are they? If they provide us the above mentioned facilities then they are our democrats and their rule is our democracy. we dont need western democracy we need what suits us and our systems and societies. Let them have their democracy and let us have our system of governance which still is not clear and in its transitionary period, as I believe that western democracy is not going to work for us in its pure western spirit and we need to modify this to suit our requirements and this may take some time, but we are sure and clear that we dont want democracy if it means politicians and rulers like benazir and nawaz and looters like zardari.

True as far as the army is concered. Pakistanis, however, have no idea about God or God`s religion.

``Secular, smug India``
A beautiful, appropriate usage. India has become too smug of late, but with the pakistani`s giving us all the reason in the world to be so, can you really blame us? I mean could there be a bigger contrast; Vajpayee taking the oath of upholding the constitution on the one hand, and Gen. musharraf suspending the constitution on the other.
``The Indian army waiting to take advantage of the sudden vortex``: I know 71 was a bad experience, but is it so difficult for the pakis to understand that India has no designs on their nation anymore? We have a pakistan that we can comfortably deal with: we don`t want no more.
I think that there is a new India taking shape now. A India which is comfortable with itself and the world (including Pakistan). A India which looks to the future, not to the past. A India which wants to succeed, and believes it could do so. Pakistanis should realize that change because it also holds a lot of potential for them too as for better or worse, we are stuck with each other.
