Absolutely Brilliant! Most of the time, I have differed with you on this Board but this time, I agree fully and endorse your views.
Indians and pakistanis are TOTALLY different. Please let me add to the reasons given by you:-
a) Pakistanis are backward looking. For every small act, they need to consult a Book wriiten 1400 years ago. Indians are forward looking. They read their books, accept whatever is acceptable in modern times and ignore the rest. So, Manu never became their law giver.
b)Pakistanis look at middle east for their never ending search for their identity but Indians look for their identity in this land called Indian Sub-continent. Irfan Hussain, famous columnist has also written once about this useless immitation and search of middle eastern identity.
c) Pakistanis believe in Brotherhood based on religion. Indians believe in ` Vasudev Katumbakkam`, that is universal brotherhood. This inspite of sporadic, indefensible atteacks on some people in their country.
d)Pakistanis believe that non- believer and even followers of other sects of believers need to be put to sword( ref. Dawn`s editorial in Todays edition), Indians believe in non-aggressive religion whose motto is,`Ekam Sat Vipra vedanti`, -Truth is one but sages call it by different names.
e)India has nurtured itself with the philosophy of Swami Vivekanand who said,``India need Vedic spirit and Islamic body,`` Pakistan has been fed on the staple diet of, `Muslims can`t live with non-muslims`- Allama Iqbal, `Muslims are a different nation`-Jinnah and so on.
f)Pakistanis invoke Allah at the drop of hat. Indians don`t disturb Bhagwan all the time. Rather, if an under 50 years of age Indian utters,`Bhagwan ka Shukr hai`, others will rush to him to check out if he is okay and keeping good health. Indians keep religion and God within themselves and don`t wear it on sleeve.
g) Allama Iqbal forgot after writing ` Mazahab nahi sikhata aapas main bair rakhna`, Indians for last 54 years are continously learning and singing this song. While Pakistan, the country Iqbalo created is made to believe that only religion is truth and others should be made to die.
I can go on and on but their is shortage of time.
So, Yaseer, thumbs up. We are different and as written by Naipaul, after five decades, we have become totally different.
Cheer up and have good time.

Rashid!
You misunderstood the meaning of the phrase ``slave-minded``. It is the phrase that these ``Sequelars`` and ``Demockrats`` coin on the Islamists.

UNDERSTANDING PAKISTANIS,
Many on chowk are exasperated by the official line followed by many on the chowk. The following is a plea for kindness towards the one dimensional pakistanis. From nation of today,
Ord soon against anti-State elements soon: Moin
ISLAMABAD (Online)-The Interior Ministry has finalised the draft law of an ordinance against the anti-state elements which will be submitted before the federal cabinet on today for approval, Interior Minister Lt. Gen (R) Moinudin Haider said on Tuesday.
``Those who are issuing statements against the country from abroad will not be spared and the government will take strict action against them,`` he said while talking to journalists after awarding the degrees at the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan here Tuesday.

TIME TO QUITT,
To YLH,
There is a time for everything, there is a time to quitt CHowk. You had been pleading with the chowk staff to let your posts through. Obviously they are out of step with others` posts. Then you find the posts so important that you want to plead with the unknown chowk staff, a little like the The Trial. Another disturbing aspect is you are waiting for the response of others to your posts and as you can see you are giving too much importance to chowk and to your posts.
I can catagorically say that none of my posts have been censored, simply because I dont know and I dont care.
What may be of use is your developing some skills, may be even listening to the ``sound of one finger typing``. You cannot change others, at best you can change yourself.
regards and best wishes.
Jay.

In a class on Economic development in India full of Indians (surprise surprise) who manages to ace the exam? a Pakistani ... the Phenomenon they call YLH. YLH had actually finished the exam in less 25 minutes but stayed on 15 more minutes to helping his Indian friends cheat off of him... unethical? Maybe ... satisfying? 100%
Clearly the response by Viking is clear indication that Indians have conceded victory to YLH on intellectual grounds... and have lowered themselves to personal attacks yet again. Bravo.
Chowk staff hope you will find this post worth putting up ... after viking`s post it is only fair.
Thankyou
Yours truly

Pankaj,
Kindly read again. Jinnah by Hector Bolitho is a book. How on Earth did you get the idea that it is a play.
The Gandhi quote against cow slaughter is very famous and I believe that Gandhi also mentions it in his autobiography. Please before you get all riled up and attack atleast bother to read.

All this talk about the Kashmir issue is getting redundant. No one has anything new to say. There`s no point in running around in verbal circles.
Of course the article is well written, but what did it accomplish? Any useful discussion?
NO!
Same old arguments, same old hateful comments by Indian racists like RSaxena.
And now someone has let Viking out.
Nothing new. TSK TSK TSK....
You can do better than that Chowk.

Viking #121,
That was SOOOOOO NOT funny, you should have left such childish ``humor`` back in third grade.
I recommend a good dose of Ritalin.

Concerned will whip the back of Ras to glow in dark.
Is this a joke or you treat people the same way.
I was only reading atrocities by Hindus on Muslims in India.
Do they plan to do it in US also.

I agree with your post.
Except Iran `slave minded`.
In the past the dynasties in this region were Mughals in India, Safawids in Iran and Turkish Caliphate. Although there had been fighting among them with sometimes one superceding over other, but it was a power to reckon.
Most importantly in recent history, Iran in its entirety and a small part of old grand turkey were only place in this region which were not colonized by British.
Iranians are polite but very brave people.
May be you can inform how you think Iran as `slave-minded`?

tahmed321 @92:
oh yes, if only it is as simple :-)
One thing is sure though. somebody HAS to budge a bit, if this thing is to be solved. Suppose your affable ceo-pm gets a magical realiztion and declares that he`d agree to settle the kashmir issue by recognizing the LoC as the IB, i am suuure he`d get the following rewards IMMEDIATELY:
1. recognition of the legitimacy of his govt by the entire world,
2. nobel peace prize
3. death, aka martyrdom.
it doesn`t have to be the ceo-pm. anybody who takes the initiative to go an extra mile and yield an inch to solve kashmir, is 100% ASSURED of rewards 2 and 3 above. reward 1 might vary as per the individual aspirations. now, who would do that ?...
would you not rather say, TO HELL WITH KASHMIR !!!. ``I`` HAVE TO TO LIVE.
