I guess better and more talented people than I have tried to venture guesses about that issue.
From my point of view I can just say that you do, you don`t have to ask any questions, you just know. But that *is * the easy way out huh?
Any others want to take a crack at Amber`s question?

[..lust is a perfectly honorable beginning for the hetrosexual love that we are talking about - it is the minimum requirement ...]
--Yes, yes, for many it is a perfectly honourable beginning - and not just for heterosexual love I might add - nothing wrong with that. And there`s also nothing wrong with it being the absolutely necessary minimum requirement. But what I don`t understand is how can anyone EQUATE it with that thing called `love`.
[...if sarwat apa or auntie zeb were to catch you having lunch at papa salas with the love of your life we couldn`t marry you off to the one armed beggar or his friend, the stump-on-wheels, who makes a decent living at abpara - everyone knows the ``loose`` girls in town...]
--Not unless sarwat apa and auntie zeb were shown those pics you happened to come across of them having dinner with their husbands` business associates in a secluded dark corner of that place downstairs in lahore while their respective husbands were in isloo taking care of twinkle and sheri, thanking their lord they weren`t forced to accompany their beautiful wives on their weekend shopping trip to that horrid place full of paindoos.

Re: shankar
Dude, get a friend or two...someone to talk to...maybe then you`ll think twice about spilling your personal life on an Internet message board...how pathetic
As for Pakistani girls, it was all mutual my friend...no need to get jealous...I know it`s tough being in your position when all you have is the Internet, but it could be worse...

Aaah, what a can worms this story was. Here I was, thinking it was the most innocuous story I have ever written. I am enjoying these discussions very much. Thanks guys.
Thank you Temporal for the formatting and for your comments. I should hire you as my full time editor.:-)

Rsaxena,
Aah! now that`s the Saxena I reeeaaaly love!
{{Your practice isn`t doing too well these days, eh?}}
I`m sooo touched by all my well wishers worrying about my practice. Even a busy shrink takes a weekend off . But thanks for your concern!
My wife wanted to go to the mall. After 20+ years of marriage she knows better not to ask moi to accompany her. Fortunately, I have a 15yr old daughter who gladly volunteers to be a chaperone on such jaunts. The only thing I feet bitter about is that my credit card gets absolutely raped during those excursions. Oh well, there`s a price for everything in life. Wait till you get married, you`ll see.
To make up for their sins, the girls treated me to a sumptuous dinner & a movie. Its amazing how I`m able to milk their guilt :) Eventhough they hated my choice of movie, they went to see Hannibal with me. Now, he`s one cool psychiatrist!
But I had a great time ``going to town`` on my computer. Beats the heck out of ``shopping``! Bitter monologues!--no way, Jose! I was laughing while I was typing. Jeeze, just when there is a no holds barred mudsling war going on, you desert us. Damned traitor! India could have used you in this Indo-Pak cyberwar.
So what were you doing this weekend--stalking Paki chicks again? If you use your hands more often, you wont get so many wet dreams.

.......... i hate to be blunt, but lust is a perfectly honorable beginning for the hetrosexual love that we are talking about - it is the minimum requirement ... or as the mathmaticians would say, it is a necessary condition - but not ``necessary and sufficient``...... all this kaka about inner beauty and mental rapport and soul-mateism ( eat your heart out, temporal) is just that - spurious drivel and bunkum bosh ... the ``necessary`` condition has to exist .......many of our arranged marriages end on the first night, or within one week ....and it has nothing to do with the partner`s intellectual level or spiritual makeup ......
........... if i wanted a friend and soul-mate i can always turn to rsaxena or urstruly
........ as for desi love - it is a silly oxymoron .... if sarwat apa or auntie zeb were to catch you having lunch at papa salas with the love of your life we couldn`t marry you off to the one armed beggar or his friend, the stump-on-wheels, who makes a decent living at abpara - everyone knows the ``loose`` girls in town ......nobody wants to be a sinner, and the four great sins are wine, pork, riba and love ..... however, if you do one you might as well do them all ........ cheers - here`s to lower interest rates and delicious prosciuto !

[...... why could joyce make up whole new words while temporal won`t allow me a dangling participle???.... and of course if i could ever write a book like rushdie`s shame i`d leave my wife .....]
---Bless your soul! You have a soul, don’t you? Also, I trust you haven’t pawned it out to flowing beards.
The jury is out on more wives but you can attempt three more of the dangling variety as long as you come to the confessional.
seriously,

Try again. You think everyone is a sideways head shaking, coconut oil dripping, confused desi man from the South looking for acceptance like you?

Your practice isn`t doing too well these days, eh? I come back from the weekend and find long, bitter, and angry monologues from you all over Chowk...hehe, I`m honored that my one-liners have made you spent so much time on me...but what you should`ve been doing is watching where your wife was going while you were sitting on the computer calling girls ``cute jalapenos``...now shoo and start typing your next post about penises and erections.
