First we are talking millions of people and not 10 or 100 as I have already told.
Second would you care to give the proper reference.
As I have already told you any conversion is almost always in newspaper.
May be the girl has converted to Islam against the wishes of her family.
There is no forced conversion.
So take back your point.
Can you tell me forced conversion of Hindus in Saudi Arabia, the most theocratic Muslim state where thousands of Hindus are working willingly or unwillingly?
Don`t try to justify CRIMES in your country by gross misinformation.
For your information Islam is the fastest growing religion in America, do you think people are forced to convert to Islam in America also.

Dear Friends
I wasnt able to communicate with you for the past few days neither I was able to check your interacts, because of my work. Before I disappear for next few days, going out of town (leaving in couple of hours), I would like to thank you, all, for your valuable and decent interaction at this thread. I wish people exhibit their inherent goodness at all other threads at Chowk, as well, as they have shown here. I am extremely sorry that I wont be able to reply to those interacts that are addressed to me, individually. But I hope to continue a meanigful interaction with all of you, in near future.
Best regards and best wishes to all of you.

Well, your reply says it all. I rest my case.
PS: bad poetry is bad poetry, irrespective of who it is addressed to, who reads it out, and what their past histories are.

dost-mittar:
You have mentioned some wonderful Rafi numbers. I like the controlled sensuality of “Chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko” (Kaajal) and “Chaudhvin ka chaand ho ya aftaab ho”, and “Tere mere sapne ab ek rang hai” (Guide) for a different reason of course. I wonder whether you would agree that some of Mahendra Kapoor’s best songs have been the ones he rendered in ‘Rafi mode’. It is a known fact that he tried to ape him. Also, am I the only one who finds a great similiarity between Rafi’s “Suhaani raat dhal chuki” and Kapoor’s “Chalo ek baar phir se ajbani ban jaayein hum dono”?
You will be surprised to know that I did not like Rafi for quite some time…I tended to prefer ‘unusual’ voices, like Hemant Kumar and Saigal. (Among filmi female singers, it was and continues to be Geeta Dutt… “Preetam aan milo”; even C.H.Atma acknowledged that her version was better than his.) Unlike others who are overwhelmed by Rafi, his voice grew on me, and I admired the tremendous range. I mean, just think of what wonders he and Asha did with “Deewana hua baadal”.
Where Mukesh is concerned I think he made up for the severe limitations in his voice by adding dollops of dard, and of course having some of the best lyrics and music directors to buffer him… “Mujhko iss raat ki tanhayee mein”, “Bhulee hui yaadein”, “Saaranga teri yaad mein”. If things get too painful, we just say ‘let us do a Mukesh’…merely uttering those words makes us smile:)

[“Sorry for misinterpreting your earlier post. Punjabi ka dimaag thera na. We have a tendency sometimes to act before we think:-).”]
Oh, it is perfectly alright. At least your intentions were honourable. Just a little visa banter with a Chowkwalli, and some people who have contributed zilch to this Board and to our discussion on music have decided to come here to get their jollies. Ajeeb dastaan hai yeh…
Khair, I would love to hear your views on the singers and songs.
Regards,
Farzana

Bahut shukria, badi meherbaani for your encouraging words and for putting me back on the “adaab arz hai” track…nahin to hum bas yunhi behek jaate.
Talking of whichhhhhhhhhh…Shirinjee, ab to aapki shaamat aa gayi :) But I will not chew you up…that reference to anaar etc will get a lot of bhaunkte bande out from their mangers to take offence at what they would see as your giving me undue importance. Yes, although you think my interacts are like a Zee TV script (will not tell you what I think about those!), I am wondering whether yahan jo ho raha hai isme koi potential hai ya nahin. And where Studebaker is concerned, I think he has a sense of humour, which he is trying to express here :) Aap ki beshumaar muskurahatoun mein bahut taaseer hai!!
I think I will need that cuppa, if not at the Empress at least from a mallika-e-chai…btw, I do some strange things with tea, besides adding adrak. Have you tried chocolate granules? Or a pinch of coffee?
Notice how I changed the subject ;)
Stay right here.
Love,
Farzana

Precious! You have not said a word here about the story or the music being discussed. Yet you waste your valuable time to come here and ask people what they ought to do. I think you are pathetic on several counts…
1.I have not written the poem, so you do not have to tell ME about it;
2.You assume that by making a woman answerable for what she is not responsible for will make you score some brownie points;
3. The gender bias is so obvious, when you refuse to notice that Studebaker has used friendly language elsewhere too, and while addressing a man at that…for example…
[“ DOST mITTAR, i like you maan ,yaar,humdum,hamdard,huminsaan….. phir milenge dost”]
Of course, I do not need to justify how I react to various posts to you; I am merely showing you your dense head. And do not tell me that others have noticed THAT post as well…they are people I have got to sharing a rapport with after interacting for days and they are not judging anyone.
4. As for the suggestion that the two of us retreat into some chat room for what you call “goo-goo”, frankly, you have a sick mind. Besides, even if this is unpalatable to you, you have no business to ask me or anyone to go anyplace because this is not your Board, nor are you the arbitrator of what constitutes good taste, much less good poetry (since there has not been an intelligible word from you.) I am surprised when you have seen me at the receiving end of all those loons who go on a rampage with the most vicious and below-the-belt comments, you have never asked them to go to some chat room. Obviously, you do not find those things vulgar or offensive to your delicate sensibilities.
Now I Am Telling You This: Stay here only if you have something of consequence to say. Or get a life, so that you don’t have to worry about others.

I did not expect you to take my comment about not thanking me so seriously :) I think you have thanked me enough; besides, I did what I did out of conviction. I would rather not understand the “bazaar ka dastoor”. Humein iss pakeezkgi ko kaayam rakhna hai!

`Tear him for his bad verses, tear him for his bad verses.` - Hazrat Sheikh Peer (circa 1600 CE)
Farzana, is it possible that the two of you retreat into some chat room for a while? Mushy goo-goo is bad enough, but I definitely draw the line at bad poetry.

Thank you very much. I will look forwards to the words of the AMU Aligarh`s National Anthem. Actually it is for my father who went to that university.

Dost-mittar, you are right, there are so many songs of those people, it will be hard to select a few from them. Well, name some more songs of Rafi abhi na jao chod kar, kabhi khud pe kabhi hawladpe rona aya, mai jindegika sath nibhata chala gaya, tum mujhe yu bhula na payoge, dilke jhaorke mei tujshe bithakar, janewale jara murke dekho,
suhani raat dhal chuki........
Bye.
