shankar bhai #253,
``black leather shiny-kind pants with studs, I suppose, huh? How about a black Harley jacket & black boots to go with it? I`m getting a little worried about you sis:) I swear to God I`m not trying to picture you in that!!``
Yes I just joined a female motorcycle gang. Aren`t you proud of me, they may vote me gang leader next week. We`re called the ``Angelic Avengers.``

``As beautiful as they may be, some Iranians can be a bit uptight and narrow-minded - you can be nice and still be narrow-minded. I suppose that`s a hallmark of most cultures east of Europe, not just the Iranian.``
It all depends on how you define ``uptight.`` I think you have to understand the psyche. There is a good % of Iranians in the US who escaped from Iran during the Shah`s times. There attitude is very different - very liberal. Yes, they have a very strong sense of belonging. Also, you will find a great difference in their attitude - once you start talking to them about common literature, fables, poetry and etc. It`s the same with Middle-Easterners. Having a lot of friends from that belt, it`s been my personal experience.
I also wanted to point out that despite their flirtateous/light-hearted attitude, they are very cultured people, no cheapness!
Laiken, people from Puerto Rico have a completely different touch :)

scouty,
{{{Almost everything I own is black. I am planning to add a black cat, black dog, black fish, black car, black leather pants, to my collection of black things.}}}
black leather shiny-kind pants with studs, I suppose, huh? How about a black Harley jacket & black boots to go with it? I`m getting a little worried about you sis:) I swear to God I`m not trying to picture you in that!!
But may I humbly add that if our family comes to visit you, please hide them by greeting the folks in a deep black burkah. I wont tell anyone, blackie:)

I agree, Irani women are quite flirtatious. Interestingly, all the Irani women I know talk badly about Irani men. I`ve never heard a single good thing about Irani men.
And the ones I`ve met are all balding, maybe they`re blow drying their hair away (tahmed321).
:)

I can`t believe my little `kidding around` about looks has gotten some Indians so flustered and angry. You guys have some severe inferiority complexes.
Jay, various posts:
What gave you the silly idea that I thought black was ugly? Almost everything I own is black. I am planning to add a black cat, black dog, black fish, black car, black leather pants, to my collection of black things. I would marry a black person anyday if he was nice and kind, even though my parents would throw a fit (not because of his color, but because of cultural differences).
Now what`s ur problem dude?
Count to ten and relax.

``Aside from that, the Iranian guys cook very well and are well-mannered and polite, with a good taste [Can be quite argumentative, though]. I had quite a few great friends from Iran, Tehran and Shiraz.``

jay,
Shahzia Said:``In our society, a lot of attention is given to the colour of a person`s skin. This is evident from some of the quite disgusting and cheap advertisements that are shown on the television about creams that will make a girl white! In the matrimonial advertisements there is great emphasis on the girl being `fair` or of `wheatish` complexion, whatever that means.``
The interesting part is the ``...quite disgusting and cheap...``. Let us think for a moment what made Shahzia say this.
Is there any difference between Tahmed reaching for the barbell and some dark skinned damsel reaching for the bleach ??? Not really. But, while one is approved, the other is ``quite disgusting and cheap``.
Shanker the headshrink may kindly throw some light on this behavior.
Here`s my take:
We humans do not want to dig too deep into our psyches...for all the disgusting things we might find. Sometimes there are issues that we strongly SUSPECT we suffer from...and when we see another with the same tendency, we are immediately reminded of our own `deficiency` - and we speak out virulently against that person...sometimes being surprised by our level of anger and disgust.
The essence of mediocrity is this - digging just a little bit - and we are all so.
OK, Take over.
regards,

Sadna:
[Whats the point of being fair(as in `beautiful`, fair-complexioned or dark-complexioned) if one is not free? Whats the point of being tall without standing up to be counted ? Whats the point of being fair without being `fair`? And whats the point of being fair without free and fair elections?(you all walked into this :) :))]
Interesting Conclusion!
Glad to see some interesting conclusions, aside from the usual cuts-and-pastes!
Saxena:
I`ll say ditto to your experience with Iranians, being very flirtateous. Aside from that, the Iranian guys cook very well and are well-mannered and polite, with a good taste [Can be quite argumentative, though]. I had quite a few great friends from Iran, Tehran and Shiraz. Once, I and few others [Iranians Only]were invited for a dinner. I was simply amazed to find a three course, well cooked meal ready to be served. With the final one having at least 6 gourmet dishes. After the meal, the Persian Tea with a killing aroma was served. These people really love to eat and know how to serve. His mother had taught him all the great recipes and how to serve and etc. In my opinion, such women deserve standing ovation!
Just thought of adding a *little * to your half-hearted write-up on Iranians :)

Dear nasah,
Continuing with an appreciation of your post # 228, could you fill us in on the changes Indira Gandhi made in the constitutional status of Kashmir?
Or, anybody else please...
Thanks.

Talking of moustaches. Is this respected Dawn columnist(and businessman) Cowasjee passing off ethnic slurs as scholarly analysis in a `respectable` newspaper or I am missing the point totally ? Casteism seems to be alive and well in Pakistan.

``..To end on a serious note. Musharraf will be flying over the border to meet a formidable friend (let us not call him a foe). Vajpayee has grown up imbibing the term `Bania, mooch nichi.` to understand the full import of these words I suggest he have a discussion with Gujerati-speaking Suleman Dawood, father of Musharraf`s minister Razzak. Wise Suleman grew up with the Banias.``

``ignore the essential white mans valuses, the values that make Neomi Cambell a super model``
Word has it that she is a royal biat$ch. There`s nothing attractive about that.
