A warm welcome to Chowk Dr. Afzul-Khan,
This was a very well-written document. Like Farzana, I too enjoy words that slap Rushdie. And boy, yours did a tight job! More power to you!
As for the feminist voices, well, people like Rushdie, are the last ones to get us down, we`ll keep trying, now and forever. Haven`t met a guy yet, who can oppress my voice. I`m sure the same holds true for you, and many others.
Regards,
Kiran

Sherdil: And one more thing on my post below - please read khamkhwa post #117 below which is an excellent description of our 12-headed brother (or sister...I am confused). (Post #117 is rated R, and refers to various adopted by brother/sister Fatimah, so please read it only if that wont bother you).

Sherdil #229: Further to my post below to Fatimah, this is the 12-headed monster you were asking about. Some heads are male, some female, but all one person who annoys some fine chowk posters. Tsk! Tsk!
PS You dont have to use his/her full title as I did out of respect in my post below: Just refer to Phd(tried) Fatimah/Bhardwaj/plus10.
:-)

Fatimah #224 ````Phd, Masters, Bachelaurette, Matric...Emeritus Professor`` Do these things register any thing in you or all the same? I guess ,for some one like you who doesnt appreciate one fron other cannot vie for that achievement either.``
So, I suppose this is how you should be addressed in that case: PhD (tried), MA (Pass with 5 grace marks for taking clerk to lunch), BA (Pass, but in useless subjects), Matric Fail (but Pass after having clerk switch exam papers) Fatimah urf Bijli urf Bhardwaj urf AAmir.

mahmud ghazni is turing in his grave ......
``In a rare instance of crossing the political and ideological fences, craftsmen from Agra and merchants from Pakistan`s port city of Karachi have joined hands to produce idols of Lord Ganesha -- the elephant god.``
........ this is the kind of thing that gets urstruly, the one-eyed mullah, and obl all worked up and cranky ......
...... personally, i am still trying to figure out how a man can live in a fish without being dissolved by stomach enzymes .... this stuff about elephant gods and six-armed dancers is simply beyond me ......
......... going back to the fish .... i have a question for the epistomologist, prof hobbs : ..... using the principle of ``reductio ad absurdum``, if we can find a contradiction in the fish tale, can we assume that the entire theory is false ? ...... so let`s say i got swallowed by a fish - not that i am volunteering - and did not survive, then would it also prove that man cannot walk on water and pork is kosher ?
........ and saminashah is worried about the 12-headed monster ... there are many troubled souls on the chowk ...........

sadna #241,
interesting article. i`ve read about such friendly exchanges in the fashion industry as well, with Nilofer Shahid (of Meeras.com fame) having bridal dress shows in New Delhi.
in the same vein, Indian jewelry is highly regarded and sought after in Pakistan.

Ok, By UrsTruly`s post, 12 Head is officially Pakistani. (Whew, Thank God)
BTW, UrsTruly was quiet for a while but is yelling and screaming again. Kya hua, wasn`t the killing of his type in Kunduz and Mazar by ``fellow Muslims`` enough? But then the coward never went to fight in Afghanistan. His type never do, they just instigate poor illiterate sods to get slaughtered.
UrsTruly, the ultimate revenge that an Indian could take on Pakistan is pray that someone like you should become President. Hamarey to kuch marengey so marengey, Pakistan ka naam dhool mey mit jayega.

mullah urstruly,
...what happened to that fury and rage with which you danced off from chowk in protest on behalf of chowk damsels in distress?...it is that same lack of resolve that has kept the pakistani army from taking kashmir from india...no good...
now moving on to garam aloos...i sympathize with you there...but dear beard, last i checked the loudest protests against 12-head are coming from muslim pakistani women...kya ho raha hai?...what does that have to do with hinduland?..
