Bal Thackeray is a goon. No two ways on that. Just yesterday the local Shiv Sena candidate trooped into our building holding out his greasy hand begging for votes. My way of showing Bal Thackeray my middle finger will be voting against his party.
But the Pakistanis only display their stupidity and warped thinking when they ask for him. He`s still an Indian citizen. The way for him and Laloo and others of thier ilk is a long long long time in a stinky prison cell.

I will add one more name to your `terrorist` to but handed over to the General - Lallo Prasad Yadav.
While we are at it, why not send over some who are grater `nuisance`to the indian population? Chowk reader, this is your chance to help Mr. Sattar to complie a `Wanted Indian` list.

Farzana Versey,
Remember that bit in ``Katha`` when Naseer and this old lady are trying to get on the bus and, having failed for the umpteenth time, the women resignedly sighs ``Ghadon ko maar ke ghora kaisay banao ge beta.``
Another brave effort, Ms Versey. Keep it up.
Regards,
Aamir

to reply number#1 ratiocinator,
Hey, Pakistanis don`t want Mr. Thakeray. I believe our minister was making a point in regards to what the Indians demanded.
Like India, Pakistan too has it fair share of idiots who use nationalist and religious extremism to get power and manipulate the masses.
India may be the largest democracy, but it is always scary to realise the influences of the BJP and its roots with the likes of the VHP and RSS - organisations. At least in Pakistan we never voted extremists into power.
Pakistan has begun to clean up its extremist mess and India should start its own by starting with state terrorism in J&K, as well as the extremist elements in government that at times always pull the government to the vicious right.
Great article. May one day both are nations be rid of ``us and them`` folk.

I am willing to send Thackeray over to Pakistan on any pretext, but there is some confusion here. India wants 20 people extradited from Pakistan for terrorism in India, and killing of Indians. 14 of those are Indian citizens.
I am not aware that Thackeray has committed terrorism in Pakistan or tried to kill Pakistanis or that he holds Pakistani citizenship to be similarly extradited to Pakistan. Hope you are not implying those killed in the M`bai riots were Pakistanis.

Your minister was ``making a point`` ? Pray what point is that.
Bal Thackeray is an Indian ruffian and he commits his crimes in India against Indians. There is a judicial system here that will deal with it. Bottomline: he has not committed any crimes against Pakis.
The GoI has asked for Dawood Ibrahim who is a wanted criminal having committed more than 400 murders. Your government/regime harbours him. Where is the connection ? It is a national shame for you to keep such a lowlife at your place. Perhaps the only reason it is done is to rankle India. But then I suppose it is too much to expect Pakis to show common decency.

I guess this FV has lost her marbles. Is Mumbai in Pakistan? Thackrey may be a goon but whatever he is accused of doing is against Indian people. He should be answerable to Indian people.
What does this FV hope to achieve by ``more loyal than you`` thingy to Pakistanis?

Nothing has changed since Musharraf`s speech: Fernandes
PTI
Washington, Jan 20
Defence Minister George Fernandes has said that nothing has changed on the ground since President Musharraf`s speech and diplomatic efforts as the infiltration of terrorists into Kashmir continues and Musharraf has not handed over to India any person in the Indian list of 20 most wanted terrorists.
Fernandes, who was appearing on Fox News-TV, said: ``All of us want a peaceful solution. That is why, despite having sent our troops right up to the front lines, we got into seeking diplomatic ways of resolving this problem.``
To a question whether he expects a peaceful solution, he said, ``It has yet to come for the simple reason that the two demands India had made in the aftermath of December 13 terrorist attack on Parliament by Pakistani terrorists. Namely, that cross-border terrorism be ended by Pakistan and, second, we had given them the names of people who are involved in serious offences - terrorist activities; these people should be surrendered to India.``
``These two demands are yet to be fulfilled. Therefore, it is one thing to feel optimistic for the simple reason that diplomatic efforts are on, but it is another thing to see that General Musharraf delivers``, Fernandes said.
Asked about Musharraf`s pledge in his speech that he will ``crack down`` on terrorism, Fernandes said that words that there will be a crackdown ``do not take us anywhere when we are witnessing transborder terrorism on a daily basis. Nothing has changed since the speech in terms of delivering.``
When the interviwer noted that Musharraf has turned over seven members of the Al-Qaeda to the US, Fernandes replied: ``If he has turned over seven members of the Al-Qaeda to the United States, then he should hand over the 20 others we have named.``
Asked whether India could move the troops back two miles from where they are now so that Pakistan could be pressured to do the same, Fernandes asked, ``what good it would do when you (Pakistan) enable these terrorists from your territory even today to move into our territory.``
India, he pointed out, moved the troops to their present positions because of what happened on December 13.
``We have had so much good faith,`` Fernandes said, ``that the Prime Minister of India went by bus all the way to Lahore to tell Pakistan that India wants to have peace; let us sit down and settle. In return, what we got was the Kargil war.``
Asked about the danger of a nuclear war between India and Pakistan, Fernandes said that India`s policy is very clear: ``We have said, no first strike ever. We shall never be the first to use nuclear weapons.``
``As far as Pakitan is concerned,`` he said, ``I want to believe that Pakistan has responsible leadership. Pakistan has today a military person who has donned the robes of a President, and I want to believe he is a responsible person.``
Asked about the danger that continued Indo-Pakistan tension could divert Pakistani troops away from the Afghan frontier and that would enable Al-Qaeda and Taliban members to move into Pakistan, Fernandes said, ``If that happens, we will be the ones who will have to suffer. As far as Pakistan is concerned, Pakistan has had an allince with the Al-Qaeda, and so we will be the sufferers ultimately.``

Your bheja has definitely gone to graze ghaas.

Fascinating debate. Does this whole list thingy mean the concept of proxy war is no longer valid?
Or does it mean after having supported Liberation movements like the LTTE and Mukhti the Indians have decided they are terrorist groups?
Forgive me for saying but doesn`t this sound highly opportunistic of the Indian Govt?
