.......... there is no hope for muslims as long as they insist on being muslims ........
........... any people who waste their time in incessant praying and fasting and worrying about the hereafter is doomed to misery in this world ....... they might get their seventy two houris, and the odd nada, once they get to the promised land, but it takes a lot more to create a decent life in this world ......... it takes hard work, education, dedication, ambition, passion and focus to make material progress......... and the muslims are culturally ill-equipped to do it - they are horribly sick and refuse to accept it ............ they cherish their silly ``values`` that are out of sync with the modern world and keep on wanting to return to the despotic times of murderous caliphs and bloodthirsty viziers instead of looking ahead .......... they are schizophrenic fools who think that the world is out to get them - what for? .....for god`s sake, why would anyone want to sit in the desert unless someone was flying planes into tall buildings and threating the only outpost of civilization in that area ..........
.......... so what is the answer? ...... the civilized world has to make it clear to the savages that only liberal democracies will be tolerated - anything else is subject to regime change ............ fazloo must go, but so must musharraf and little king abdullah and little asad and the robed clowns of mecca ..... all, all of them have to go - only then will there be peace on earth ......... and if a few bedouins and pathans die in the process, so be it - you can`t make chappal kebabs without breaking a few eggs ...........

The dressing down meted to India from US State Department is finally bearing results...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/2956253.stm
``VAJPAYEE SEEKS PAKISTAN TALKS``
(Some excerpts)
Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has said dialogue is the only way to bring peace in Kashmir in a rare overture to Pakistan.
He was addressing a public rally in Srinagar in Indian-administered Kashmir - the first prime minister to do so in 16 years.
The event was held amid tight security in the disputed state`s summer capital, where a protest strike by separatists had closed most of the city.
Mr Vajpayee said he wanted to extend the hand of friendship to India`s rival, Pakistan - provided Islamabad reciprocated.
``Guns will not solve the matter but brotherhood will,`` he said from behind bullet-proof glass.

did someone talk about introducing facts into the discussion? and can someone please explain to me why are westerners so fascinated with us? when was the last time a muslim army invaded the west? or when was the last time a secret service agency of a muslim country tried to overthrow a western government? or which muslim country has stationed its army in a western country against the wishes of its citizens? or why cant muslims be concerned with the plight of Palestinians when the whole of africa was allowed to be concerned with the plight of south african blacks? or why is it a bad idea for pakistan to link with afghanistan or iran when it is a good idea for kashmir to link with tamil nadu or for portugal to link with denmark? and why are our liberals such cowards? why are they so afraid to fight their own battles? why do they rely on forces that locked gandhi in jail for 8 years?

``_ _ _But it wasn`t long before there was infighting among Iraq`s new rulers. In 1968, after yet another coup, the Baathist general Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr seized control, bringing to the threshold of power his kinsman, Saddam Hussein. Again, this coup, amid more factional violence, came with C.I.A. backing. Serving on the staff of the National Security Council under Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon in the late 1960`s, I often heard C.I.A. officers — including Archibald Roosevelt, grandson of Theodore Roosevelt and a ranking C.I.A. official for the Near East and Africa at the time — speak openly about their close relations with the Iraqi Baathists.``

Please, no more made-in-the-USA monsters
By David Hackworth
``_ _ _Whether it was the threat of Soviet missiles being set up in Iraq or the chance to secure all that black liquid gold as ours for the pumping, we hired Psycho Saddam as our hit man, set him up in an apartment across the street from the prime minister`s Ministry of Defense and ordered Qasim taken out with ``extreme prejudice.``
_ _ _For openers, Saddam lost his nerve and triggered the ambush too soon. One member of this hit team that couldn`t shoot straight had the wrong ammo; another, the grenade man, couldn`t fling that sucker because it got caught in his coat; and yet a third member missed the prime minister but somehow managed to shoot Saddam in the leg. Qasim escaped, and so did Saddam, limping off to Cairo, Egypt, where – even after all those blunders – the CIA propped him up in a safe-house and kept his pockets lined with Yankee green while continuing his training in terrorism.
_ _ _In 1963, after Qasim was knocked off in a second CIA black op, Saddam scurried home to slay his way up the power ladder and eventually become head of the dreaded al-Jihaz a-Khas, the feared intelligence apparatus of the Ba`ath party.``

Stuka and Zafar A
I had raised a question but in your typical fashion, the question was evaded. One called me a Brahmin ( which I am not ), the other asked me to do homework which I did.
Do you guys deny that Sufis believe in personal relationship with Allah or not ?
Guys it is not a hard question.

``Now, what I understand about Sufism is that Sufis believe that a personal relationship can be reached with Allah or God. This however, is against one of the great beliefs on which Islam is built -that is an ordinary mortal cannot establish relationship with God and only the good old MO was supposed to be His Agent and only he had the sole monoply after he assumed prophethood.``
You have been misinformed. Please restrict yourself to informed and coherent comments/criticism in future. That is to say, please do some homework. ``
Naah!! That would require actual thinking. So much easier to just sit around and spout off. Typical Brahmin.

tantunia1 #38 Please do not introduce facts into the discussion. This trick will not work! ``Baghdad Bob`` Sahaf (Information Minister of the Mother of All Republics) has assured me that kashmiris, chechens and palestinians are in fact 99.9 percent of the muslim world. He also assures me that if they are not 99.9 percent of the muslim world, they should be. Which is the same thing. He also tells me that Saddam is having a victory parade in Baghdad tomorrow. HisExcellency is invited. You are not, until you promise to stop confusing people with facts!!
And for hamidm2, Bob tells me he has a nice torture chamber ready for him. Bob humorously calls it ``torture land`` because he will teach hamidm to also laugh at muslim land. Ha! Ha!

``So et too brute bought into the indian reporters slanted reporting. ``
Dear Mr/Ms Studbucket,
Are you saying that Indian reporters
1 INVENTED the published threats by militant groups in Kashmir to throw `punish` women who didn`t wear burkahs?
2 Invented the statements of support for this from outfits like Dukhtaran e Millat?
3 INVENTED the women who had acid thrown in their faces because they didn`t wear Burkahs?
4 Have INVENTED the 300,000 Kashmiri Pandits who were chased away from their homes in Kashmir because of the (INVENTED?) threats published against them in (INVENTED) Kashmiri papers?
Let me guess, you are a man/woman giving birth to him/herself, soon to be running with the wolves? Mashallah.
Regards

re: #39 hamidm2 and #38 tuntunia1
You have raised interesting points. When I said ``muslims can never progress as a nation as long as their lands are being occupied by foreign nations`` I was referring to Kashmiris and Palestinians.
Freedom is a necessary, but not a sufficient condition for progress and great power status. Peace, democracy, education, industry and military strength are the 5 ingredients necessary for this.
Most of the Muslim world lacks at least 3 of these 5 ingredients.
The largest Muslim nation (Indonesia) enjoys reasonable military strength but had religious tensions (East Timor), dictatorships and economic problems for most of the last 2 decades. Education levels are quite good (87% literacy).
The 2nd biggest Muslim nation is Pakistan. Pakistan is militarily strong but suffers from weak democracy, poor literacy, shaky economy and Kashmir border dispute.
The 3rd biggest nation Bangladesh enjoys relative peace but had long periods of dictatorship.. and has a weak economy, weak military and low literacy levels.
Turkey has a strong military and high literacy rates. They managed to freeze their border disputes with Greek Cypriots and Iraqi Kurds. But they too have a quasi-democratic state that witnessed frequent military interventions. In addition, the economy is continuously in perilous waters.
Next consider the Arab world. Most countries lack military strength, literacy and democracy. However, they have good economies (oil-dependent) and enjoy peaceful relations with their neighbours. (Iraq and Syria are perhaps the only exceptions).
African Muslim nations are in worse shape. Nigeria has religious violence, military coups, weak economy, weak military and low literacy levels. The rest are mired in problems too.
All this must be considered in perspective. Just 60 years ago, more than half of these countries were European colonies.
In the next 60, most of these nations are likely to overcome low literacy but the other factors (democracy, peace, industry, military strength) remain uncertain. Freedom is, nevertheless, a necessary starting point. Without freedom, you can`t even begin the journey.

How many muslims and muslim lands are occupied? Kashmiris, Palestinians and Chechans combined are less than 15 millions out of 1.8 billion ummah. What is stopping the rest of the 99.9% muslims from becoming first class world power? These three issues are so overblown.

your excellency,
``Muslims can never progress as a nation as long as their lands are being occupied by foreign nations.``
............. the muslims have more land than they can handle - they have it coming out of their ears and posteriors .......... all the way from morocco to indonesia, and from the sudan to kazakastan ..... yet they fight over little bits of real estate in the phillipines and timor and, yes, kashmir ......... and out of all this land they produce nothing - the total gdp of these godforsaken lands is less than that of france and if it weren`t for the oil that the white man found under the sand they would be pounding sand and chasing their sheep and camels ......... and yet these primitive people are obsessed with land.... what are they going to do with it? ...... turn it into another iraq or nwfp? ......... does anyone really believe that pakistan will turn into belgium if we had kashmir, or that the ayrabs would stop smelling and behaving like camels if palestine was free ?.......... nonsense! ........the fault is in a retrograde ideology that keeps them mired in the seventh century ............ and only the white man can from them from their demons ..........
