Dear All,
Thanks for your kind responses. I wish I could probe Nihalani further but unfortunately he was short on time.
The good thing is, thankfully for all his fans, he is on his next project. He has roped in Amitabha Bachchan and Fardeen Khan for another cop story.
Regards
Zafar

Zafar:
thanks for this write up on Karachi born (Aug 19, 1940) govind nihalani…brief it was and slightly out of focus…wish you had probed him more on tapas, rukmavati ki haveli, deham…and his views on the younger directors now following the trails of nihalanis and benegals…and any ‘khalish’ he might have had…and anything that related to the ‘inner fire’…what keeps him going…
“Unfortunately, cinema is not like painting” Govind Nihalani
…perhaps…though it can be… baraka, koyanisqaatsi, powakaatsi and india’s own gagajamini come to mind …

Zafar sahab,
Thank you for sharing this with us. Having seen his films, it would be very difficult to imagine him making a comedy.

One of my favourite Nihlani movies is ``Droh-kaal``. In addition, a TV serial by Nihlani called ``Tamas`` had some superlative performances apart from a very tight storyline. The common factor in both- Om Puri, one of my fav actors.

thank you for bringing this article here...unfortunately i`m not too familiar with Govind Nihalani`s work, but I`ve been wanting to watch Hazaar Chaurasi ki Maa since forever...none of the video rental places here has it.
