The comparison between Iraq and Afghanistan is naive. The Iraqi population is highly educated and given the oil reserves, all Iraq needs is a sensible, democratic government and Iraq will outshine everybody in the region in short period of 10-15 years.

Afghanistan has nothing to sell and no money to buy anything.

For a while, Iraq will be under the control of Tommy Frank and retd. General James Garner alongwith James Woosley - former CIA chief. The problem really is that Sunni are well-educated and Kurdish are like Afghans. In any fair system Sunnis will dominate and that will not be liked by majority Shias and minority Kurds. The situation of Sunnis in Iraq is somewhat similar to Palestinians in Jordan.

The real genetic Arabs are actually least cultured, educated and civilized than rest of Arab speaking population. This is the real irony of Mohammed`s genetic and tribal kins - despite enjoying overwhelming political power for centuries before Ottomans - they have not changed with time.

how come, Dawn , Jang and other newspapers in Pakistan started calling Iraqi people killed as ``martyrs``.

The other day, I saw an new bullet item in Jang, saying something to the effect, ``.....15 Iraqis martyred``.

---Stability in Post-War Iraq depends on US intentions and sincerity. Since both are diluted if not suspect, count on instability in the region in the near future. Initially it may well play in the US hands. Over the longer term welcome to Palestinization of the region.

Political changes are slow and difficult to implement. Afghanistan is a prime example. Is democracy prevailing in Afghanistan?? The simple answer is NO.

Iraq will be no different than Afghanistan. An “interim” government will exist till Iraq achieves “political stability.” This political stability will never be achieved and real democracy will never the implemented. Plain and simple.

The OIL, however will keep on flowing from Iraqi wells…………………..
