why can i suddenly relate... to not loving anymore but loving at the same time,.. to looking at other ppl (that i thought id never do!) to wanting my old life back,.. to having a fling (or two).. (which i wonder btw,.. maaf ho jaye ga ya nahin?).. its crazy how we have to give so much just to appear normal,..

khair,...

nice piece,.. maybe not exceptional,.. but something i would write,.. maybe.

stay sane...
i hope i do.

erm...what exactly was the point behind all this...why are we being made privy to all sorts of weird thoughts that swirl and twirl in your mind...
``Y’know, to this day, I have not cheated on her. I have of course thought about it. All men do; it is only natural. And I sometimes allow myself that luxury. To think about it. `` It is natural for men to think of cheating on their wives...is that so? I mean I am not a husband so I would not knwo but I do think it is wrong of you to plaster your fancies onto all other men...but then again, what do I know of me...ramble on then...

i liked this because it articulated feelings most married people don`t talk about. i don`t think the desire to run from it all is unique to men...i`ve been married for five years and now have a kid but that doesn`t put the feet to sleep. long day, annoying kid or husband, too much responsibility, sometimes i just want to walk out the door and never come back. it doesn`t mean i`m a bad person or i don`t love my husband, it just means i want to experience. that is why marriage is a challenge, it should not be the end of a journey but the beginning of one. some of us, like me, are lucky enough to find a spouse who can understand, who is honest enough to acknowledge the same desire in him/herself and doesn`t see even voicing the thought as a betrayal.

A few years into marriage and kids can do this to most relations. The funny thing is that the feeling of being neglected and undesired is on both sides. Leave the kid for a few days or even for the night and go have fun with the wife. You’ll be surprised she hasn’t changed either, if anything she needs the break even more than you do.

As a side, I think one of the problems is that rarely in our society does the woman take the initiative. Wouldn`t it be sexy if the woman admits that she has desires too.

Everyone wants to escape-it seems so easy to just get up and leave, and yet at the same time it is just an unspoken desire. Perhaps we are bound too tightly by the strings of relationships and responsibilities.

Lord Almighty. The nicest compliment from Aisha :) Just would like to point out that this is a short story... fiction. I aint even married, but if the piece made you think i was then the voice i took on was realistic, and i must have done a pretty alrite job :)

Good point trinity. Maybe next time i should take on a female voice and try to speak through that . But then again i think i would get crucified to presume to know what goes on in a female`s mind.

hmm i like your piece because its honest and at the same time it makes me hate the human mind. I wouldn`t say a guy`s mind cause i am very well awareof how a woman`s mind might work too. These are the kind of things that scare me about life and its realities....every situation you are in you want to escape...escape to something better and later you realize that you always had the better with you....you were so busy searching for it that you couldn`t ``see``.

what? aping Hemingway? the legendary terseness?

I think there are good bits and pieces here and there, but I think you can work on it a bit more. Really.
