Of course the article! But I also think that the writer desired to share her observations and how many times she was getting completely ticked off. And, to share or not to share is completely up to the writer. The reader has a few options:
- Completely ignore what`s not interesting.
- Comment and say good bye
- Critique and constantly critique till the writer is on his/her knees defending his/her stance.
- Stay indifferent and aloof.
My two cents.

Authors aren`t rebels.
Rebel is just so broad a term these days and daubed on every piece of shit that it`s an embarassment calling them rebels.
Well if anyone`s in it for the fun, I won`t say that I have a right to force them not to have fun but I`d rather just not waste time with people who are just making themselves feel better or writing their angst. Worse yet, Madiha wasn`t just trying to have fun with us, somewhere in her mind she expects to be taken seriously and be accepted as an `intellectual`` or just ``intelligent.``

Not to be confused with DINK, which stands for `Double Income No Kid`, who normally buy DKNY stuff. You forgot the faux DKNYers, the B&T crowd that pretends to be New Yorkers. They spend on designer clothing but save up on the zip code.
Zeeshan: Good posts. Agree with you. Question..why not write? I dunno if the author is a genuine rebel or not..don`t care really..but still thought it was a funny piece.
Ain`t nothing wrong with that is there???

I hadn`t a clue before now what DKNY ever standed for but I got the general idea what DKNYers were.

So many typos, only one I`ll clarify.
/I on the other hand, like to proven wrong because I`m made fun of./
This should`ve read ``I on the other hand, like to be proven wrong BEFORE I`m made fun of.``

Sorry about the lack in clarification... now that I think about it `DKNYer` was something that I think I created in my mind, and like most subconscious mental inventions, I assumed the reader could `read` my mind and comprehend my outburst... we have not reached that level of mind reading sophistication yet (and I pray we never do!)....
regardless... thanks to the person who clarified it and may the conversation keep rolling...

And Temporal old man even though you`re talking to yourself, I`ve answered those questions before and have to see better answers on chowk at least. I can`t really see why they`d be difficult to answer.
Repeat:
One writes because there is no other choice. People who write for a hobby or because they like to wank on page aren`t writers.
Target reader? Yourself but take care not to be too esoteric. Or in simpler words, yourself with a lousy memory.
Written word convey something? It varies. Your motives shouldn`t be righteous and revolutionary everytime but you should have a point to make somewhere even if it`s ``I DONT HAVE A POINT TO MAKE`` but the message is secondary to prose most of the time.
Nine times out of ten, It`s not what you say, it`s how you say it.
To whom? Anyone between heaven or Dera Ghazi Khan. Which means it is permissible to write for dead people or illiterate people as long as you can write well.
Anger? hostility? That`s because pakistanis can`t stand being told they`re wrong. I on the other hand, like to proven wrong because I`m made fun of.
Bubbaboey Fellah.

[who are DKNYers?]
DKNY, the logo prominently emblazoned on T-shirts and assorted clothing, stands for `Donna Karan New York``, Donna Karan being a clothing designer. Not to be confused with DINK, which stands for `Double Income No Kid`, who normally buy DKNY stuff.

(talking to myself)
...why does one write?
...yeah, there are rebels with a cause and those without....and yet others who cannot discern between any posterior...even when they are pressed to their (eye)balls and nostrils...
...back to why does one write?...and whio is the target reader?
...shoud the written word convey something?...and to whom?...not to forget why...as i indicated early on am just talking to myself...therefore do not necessarily need responses...but if they come...
...also in the same mode wonder why their is so much anger and hostilty lurking here?

Sometimes I wish they would stop digesting whatever is in front of them and look for their own theories. No book can tell you what life is. Only your own mind can. Unless of course, you`re stoned because its the ``rebel`` thing to do.
And that, was just the entire idea. thankyou.
you dont know how pleasurable it is to hear it from someone else, put right
rebellion was never brought up by me. generally speaking, this world needs to be taught to stop shoving words up a writer`s arse when they dont belong there.
people do, as a Norm, have pre conceived notions of what to find in a tirade against popular culture. rebellion, was never the question here. who cares if it`s a joke or a way of life to who when it wasnt the question?
one is sorely tempted to give up and go back to the wry-eyed-pissing mode . imbecility lurks around in the strangest corners, like in compulsive need to imagine ideas rising up a head where they werent formed
when writing, sometimes , the only thing that works is putting it at the window sill rather than grazing profundity while trying to `educate`. you got to remember who it is that youre trying to educate.

Somehow this all reminds me of a bunch of comments made by yuppie kids after they went to the Entity Paradigm listening session. I asked them what they understood of the most experimental track on the album and they came up with the most inane explanations like ``it means evolution``, but as to what was evolving they had no idea.
Everyone reworks the same done-to-death ideas in their heads. Listen to Nirvana and dream about living Kurt`s life and dying Kurt`s way. Abandoning the yuppie lifestyle to work with orphans but most of them cant stand it for a day. Attending funerals and trying to be all philosophical when all they really want to do is to gossip about the ones in murning. I`m babbling here, but this is what most of these ``wanna be a rebel, wanna be a revolutionary, wanna change the perception of what Karachi means to them because they read Kartography`` types are like. Sometimes I wish they would stop digesting whatever is in front of them and look for their own theories. No book can tell you what life is. Only your own mind can. Unless of course, you`re stoned because its the ``rebel`` thing to do.
