re: Dost-Mittar # 40
I graduated from grade 13 in 1986. My home room teacher was Mr. Purdy and it was a world geography class. I had seven classes during my senior year, but as far as the annual pictures are concerned, it would be Mr. Purdy`s class. I wish, I could remember the alphanumberic designigation for that class. I think it might have been 5D, but I could be wrong.
Are you a Lisgarite also?

What grade were you in during 1986? And if there were more than one classes, what class were you in? Did you graduate that year?

Following is my brief tour guide for the cities I have visited in Canada, over the past two years:
Best looking girls: Montreal, Vancouver – provided one doesn’t go into the newly mushrooming Indian immigrant area (just kidding, just kidding!!…..I really need to stop doing that ….couldn’t resist it :-))
Best looking guys: Mississauga, of course (where all the Pakistanis live)
Most beautiful big city tourist spot: Grouse Mountain, Vancouver
Most beautiful campus: Simon Fraser, Vancouver (or is it Barnaby)
Most happening street for gora-watching: Saint Catherine’s in Montreal
Most happening street for desi-watching: Gerrard in Toronto
Most happening area/time for celebrity watching: Toronto film festival
Most over-rated tourist attraction: Niagra Falls in Niagra
Most under-rated tourist attraction: African Lion Safari in Toronto
Best desi restaurant: Karma in downtown Toronto
Best amusement park: Wonderland in Toronto
Most highly priced tourist spot: CN tower
Most scenic city: Victoria/Vancouver/Quebec City
Best strip clubs: St. Catherine’s street in Montreal (contact dost-mittar for more info)

Farzana:
This is one of the best travel report I have ever read on less known of western cities. My two bits in response to few of your notings:
1. ``For example, there may be long queues to enter CN Tower, but for the largest building in the world that is supposedly made of glass, they have left just one open patch on the floor, the rest being carpeted. Naturally I crawled over it to look down below.``
We were told by an official while coming down from CN Tower (summer of 2002) that initially the entire floor was of glass, but people were scared to put their feet on the floor. So they covered it up by the carpet except for the patch that you mentioned. We don`t know if this is true.
2. On shopping, we would advise people to head out for Simcoe county rural areas and buy some good stuff from home based businesses there. Shopping in rural areas is really interesting. Eaton is more for window shopping. If one does not want to venture out into rural areas then perhaps Rockford or Sqaure 1 (in Mississauga) would be better options. At least, there is some shopping frenzy in those two malls. Other than these two, we found some energy in stores of Barrie.
3. We also discovered a very good eating place in Mississauga near Square 1. BBQ Tonight offered quality food. Of course, Rainforest Cafes are a big hit whether in Chicago, Orlando or Toronto. Another unusual place was Mideval Times, where the middle ages Europe was showcased while we ate (you have extremely limited options with Halal food of course). Knight`s Joust was an instant click with dining audience.
4. We found the places to be more interesting since we were on our own (traveling from Chicago) and getting lost every now and then. You tend to enjoy a city more if you get lost (my personal opinion).

farzana--i just liked the rhyme between informative and reformative! but it did reform some ideas i had of Canada..
Indeed England is lovely...but as the saying goes, ``What knows he of England who only England knows?``
Plus I want to travel the world and make use of my qualifications..
