It is a meaningless issue whether Qadafi is a rat or a mole.

I only have bone with the following rather speculative and unsupported contentions.

Comparing Z. Bhutto and Qadafi the author contends:
“They were cut from the same cloth. Both were mercurial and impetuous. Both, apparently, loathed the west and yearned for the salvation of the Muslim Ummah”

Bhutto loathed west??? Must be from some book written by Chairman Mao!!!!
Bhutto Yearned for Muslim Ummah???? Right out of PPP propaganda book.
Gimme a break!!!
Bhutto did now know diddly squat about the Ummah. The So-called Muslim became Ummah after he died and in Zia regime when Mullah became supreme in the land of wide eyed ideologues like Mr. Ghouri. May be Bhutto envisioned Ummah and Hired Maulana Whiskey to lead the Ummah.

Now Qadafi has been masquerading as Arab Nationalist for a long time. A 27 years old lieutenant, takes down the decades old entrenched monarchy, without any support from the outside agencies, is in itself is suspicious. A retired Pak Foreign office person should be able to discern that.

“There is little doubt that Bhutto and Qaddafi shared a vision of reviving the glory of the Islamic world.”
Bhutto and Qadafi shared a vision of Islamic glory??? Where did you dream up this thing- in toilet?
Call Qadafi” contemporary romantic Muslim ‘heroes’ if you must but please don’t distort history.

President Nasser of Egypt would not haved even touched this man with a ten foot pole.
Bhutto was a secular man and never had any grandiose designs for Islam except when it was needed for political purpose. Qadafi always championed Arab Nationalism. He never claims any allegiance to Islamic whatever.

Participation in OIC meetings do not make a politiciann Islamic visionary-
What the fark!!!

Mr. Ghauri!! some people are still alive who knew Bhutto a whole lot better than you can even dream up!!!!

Could it also be that AQK sold them bum technology deliberately and got caught? Nobody likes being taken for a ride regardless of how pan-islamic one`s sentiments are.....

Knowing Pakistanis, I wouldn`t be surprised if they claimed -- ``Proliferation?!! What proliferation? You guys know that the centrifuges that we sold them would not enrich Uranium past 20% so where is the question of making bombs. So please let us play our con games in peace....``

Its nearly funny the article title. ( The question is rhetoric to say most kind)
Really one should ask why we foolish honor Col. Sahib by giving his name to stadium, Our foolish and inferiority complex is not his problem. I use to go for shopping in gulf for average Arabs ( not sofesticated) most pakistanis and Indians were just bunch of dark hindus. Hope we are going get some ``A.Khan`` stadiums for making muslim bomb , well I believe in miracles. Same ``afghan condom `` problem.

Why cant Muslims just live like other people? Why is it that they die to search for a hero? Why is it only a hero who can save them or create an Islamic Empire for them? Muslims of the world or the Ummah or whatever one may prefer to call them, would be in much better shape if only they rid themseleves of such hollow and fake dreams. It is the ordinary people who because of their education and hard work can turn themselves into better human beings. If to better your lot you are waiting for a hero to arrive on the scene and salvage you from the present chaos, please forget it. What is wrong with accepting the fact that no nation can always be on the top of the world? There is a rise and fall reality in history. No civilization has always remained supreme, none will. Instead of contending with other nations it is better to learn from them and live better lives. Half of our problems will be solved if this malaise of hero worship and pan-Islamism went out of our lives and psyche. Muslims better think of living decently than ruling the world. More reasonable to rule themselves than waste their time in dreaming to rule the world.

~~They saw in his antics—supporting the IRA in Northern Ireland against Britain, or the Moro Liberation Front against a repressive Filipino government in Manila—the spark of a revolutionary leader out to settle scores with an exploitative west~~

How the hell was supporting a terrorist organisation killing Filipino`s...one of the dirt poorest third world countries in the world...settling scores with the West?

Oh I forgot Filipinos are Christians even though they are Asian maybe that was it.

As for the IRA well I remember the days when they used to put bombs in city centres and blow up children.

If there were any Pakistanis who viewed this as heroic then they had a very skewed view of the world.

I am glad the US is finally speaking the language that the Iranian mullahs and arab thugs understand - the language of the danda. Musharaff was smart, and he straightened out as soon as the threat of a danda was presented. Hussein was stupid, and didnt get it until the danda hit his head. Iranian mullahs and Arab thugs saw the danda hit Hussein, and got smart.

This reflects the fundamental flaw in muslim societies today - the lack of concern for what is right and what is wrong. If this flaw was not present, our generals would never have supported the rogue taliban regime in afghanistan, or the rogue ``freedom fighters`` who target innocnet people in kashmir; Qaddafi would never have carried out terrorist acts against; Iranians would never have sought nuclear capacity when their was no clear defense need in case of Iran for nuclear weapons.

Even the writer of this article seems to miss this point.

The basic concern of the Quran is for the individual to differentiate between right and wrong, and that is why the Day of Judgement is of such prominence in the Quran. Thus, ironically, the only truly ``islamic`` countries in the world are the countries the muslims love to hate - the democracies of the world (US, UK, and India).

Nothing to worry,

In the bbc program it is mentioed that during the last two years Colin Powell made 82 phone calls to mushy. We know the content of one, if you do not join the afghan war pakistan will be bombed to stone age.
All these calls mean only onething, the pak military mind, they understand only the language of the daisy cutters. The pakistanis have no identity, hence they can be easily pushed around, To get money from the saudid, it became a jihadic country, now for mopney from the US the FBI is running the country. What pakistsan needs is an islamic revolution, a revolution by the beared generals and taht will be the dawn of nrew pakistan.

Mushy is busy telling that nuclear program will not be wound down, and one can be sure that the uncle sam has taken the bombs and is guarded by the FBI.
One can remeber the offer from pakistan, they offrede medical treatment for indian rape victims, UN documents for kashmiris etc, and must be one phone call from powell, it was cease fire in kashmir, srinager pak road.

One can well imagine what it is to be a pakistani. One can well understand why some one ylh will claim that there are roads in pakistan named after abdus salam and all other pakistanis on chowk will keep quite hoping that the others willl believe it. It si such a shame to be a pa

Its all good fellers. I just hope that this episode teaches us the actual worth of Pan Islamism. Arabs, Iranis and every one out there is watching his own back. Keep in mind how the Saudis wanted to make a local goon out of Pakistan during the Sharif regieme and how the more secular (but every bit as slimy) Libya and Syria tried to get us involved in their own problems. I mean how can a Pakistani pilot be allowed to fly in 1973 Arab Israel fight. Does any one recall Arab pilots in our skies.
So Pakis listen up. We are alone by ourselves, and friendships are not and should not be based on religion but national interest. The best part is we still have each other. (if we dont import the wahabist extremism from Saudis)

Tauheed at # 10:

``If this flaw was not present, our generals would never have supported the rogue taliban regime in afghanistan, or the rogue ``freedom fighters`` who target innocnet people in kashmir;``

With due respect:

1. It is documented that Pakistanis supported Talibans under USA`s concurrence. The Talibans were created and sustained through Saudi money, American arms and Pakistan`s operational support. It is also documented that the Americans continued to negotiate with Talibans pre-9/11 behind the closed doors to get access to what they wanted. Its due to inflexibility of the Talibans that later both Americans and Pakistanis got wary and then against them.

2. Freedom Fighters of Kashmiris never targeted the innocent people. It was terrorists, counter-insurgents created by India and Indian military. The last two factors have been admitted too by the Indian Government and media. Even today, Indian military is killing innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters, because of getting tacit approval from the West and also by Pakistani Government. The latter`s tacit approval is because other than entering the peace process, we do not have alternate strategy in today`s anti-Muslim world.

As a Pakistani, USA, Spanish and Australian resident, I do admire President Musharraf`s/PM Jamali`s Government stance on current affairs to side with the West, but the reality that the West is showing anti-Muslim bias is never lost on me.

I would like to humbly submit that your blaming freedom fighters in Kashmir alone sets the real culprits (counter-insurgents and Indian military) scotch free. According to the saying`s of the Quran, that you have referred to, we should not shy away from highlighting the real culprits.

The truth is, Kaddafi stopped being ``the most vocal and hostile Arab voice against the West`` way back in 1986, after US jets pounded the Libyian capital. He was left shell-shocked and so was his romatism. And anyways, his main strategic supporters, Bhutto, King Faisal and Eygpt`s Nasser left the building in the `70s. After 1986, he was no more than a brooding beduoin. It took his son`s love of football to persuade his father to finally open up! Well, he`s still better off than the American President who ordered the 1986 bombing. Ronald Rambo Reagan today is no better than a limp vegetable. A senile who doesn`t even remember he was once a President. But then there are those who suggest that the man often forget this even when he WAS the President! So there is certainly something left to rejoice by disillusioned Kaddafi fans. And I was once one of them.

Rgds,
Nadeem F. Paracha
