Good observations, Mr. Ghori:
The contemporary movements within the global village are very different in character than the earlier mass migrations, especially from the Indian subcontinent. Those who went to Guiana, Trinidad, Fiji and even Africa rarely came back for a visit. Ironically, they stuck to their roots and culture very strongly. An Indian in Trinidad still retains his religion and culture as practiced in the home country in the 19th century. On the other hand, the new immigrant to the West from those same countries is in constant touch with his home country through Internet, cellphones, TV channels and annual visits. They not only are au courrant with what`s going on back home but sometimes even influence what`s going on in the home country in fashion, music and politics.
It`s a different world!
