Soundmiester

The title of the cartoon is the news item that says ``Americans have started training Pakistan police``. Then in the cartoon the instructor (American) is pointing them towards the portrait of a bearded man and instructing them ``Apprehend only the people who have beards``

Urstruly,

Can you provide subtitles for the cartoon in #7?

Humour is the best remedy to ease one`s pain, and also to induce reform. Jewish comedians have perfected this art. When one makes fun of one`s own community, one is careful to draw a line between laughing at oneself and insulting one`s community. And when one shows one`s pain, it acts as dual therapy, as was the case with the Archie Bunker jokes in All in The Family.
On the subcontinent, only the sikhs know this art; some of the best sardarji jokes come from sikhs themselves, like those by Khushwant Singh. We can also learn a thing or two from our maraasis and bhands in this regard.

Malike99:
I like the jokes by Shazia Mirza.

doublec:
I think that a real desi comic discovery is the guy who has replaced Rick Mercer on CBC`s This Hour Has 22 Minutes. He is hillarious.

Unfortunately writing under separate handles is the forte of hypcorites like you. You`ve done it at least a couple of times before without admitting it I might add. This ``prostitute`` addition has your slimy fingerprints all over it.

Urstruly # 12 - Up until now I thought hamidm was only talking like a prostitute. But to know that he is actually walking the talk is quite ...... oh well. I suppose it was only a matter of time.

Amit

I think hamidm should be banned from this forum; this pervert has been writing ilogs with the handle ``prostitute`` to beguile the unsuspecting horny middle aged men with Erectile Dysfunction among us. Nice ass though.

I nominate Mr. Hamidm as the top muslim comic of all times. Man, he is in the wrong line of work. If he took up comedy, he could give Jay Leno a run for his money.

I have a good Muslim joke.

A man walks into a sex shop. He wants to buy a blow up sex doll. The man at the counter says ``We have two models, a blonde one and a Muslim one``.

The dude says, ``Whats the difference between the blondie and the Muslimee?``

The man at the counter pulls them off the shelf and says,

``The blonde one, you have to blow her up yourself. The Muslim one, no problem, saves you time, she blows herself up.``

hehehe

;-)

Now this Muslim comedian looks like one classy lady without a chip on her shoulder:

I reckon Malik99 would lynch her though ;-)

malik 99,

Firstly this ``festival`` was in my city which unlike our neighbors in the south treats Muslims much better. (Except a few handful incidents, Canada is still friendly to Muslims than America.) Secondly, if the festival was a ``Desi Comedy Festival`` then i would not have raised a point because if the blacks can do it in the south then so can we.

Russell Peters a Canadian from Indian parents is, in my opinion, the best desi comedian in Canada. It would have been great to have him in the festival if this was a ``Desi Festival``.

As far as the jokes you posted in post 1, well i can easily say that they would have offended more muslims then those that laughed at them.

may their tribe increase.

btw, I liked the chicago lawyer`s `tasteless` jokes that malik has reproduced :)

shazia mirza also I`ve heard of, someone had writtena piece on her on chowk if memory serves right.

us subcontinentals could do witha healthy dose of good-natured self-deprecation now and then. we take ourselves way too seriously.

doublec # 3 - you asked ``Why have a ``Muslim Comedy Festival``? Why would one label themselves as Muslim comedians..... why not just plain comedians? ``

Not sure if you are a muslim or not. But if you are, you probably would have gone through ``special registeration`` process 2 years ago for pretty much all non-citizen immigrants in US who all happened to be muslims. On border crossings, muslims are being paid special attention. Cat Stevens is deported because he is a muslim. If having ties with ``extremists`` was his crime, then almost all of israeli politicians should be deported too -since they are all tied to extremists. But since in cat Steven`s case, he is tied to MUSLIM extremists, that makes it a deportable crime.

While the illegal mexican and el salvadoran immigrants roam free in the streets of US, the muslim illegal immigrants were deported with relentless tenacity.

So given all that, it makes sense that a group of people take it upon themselves to find some humor in this ethnic and racial profiling of muslims. Blacks have done that since they too have been long targeted because of the color of their skin. Black comedy events are pretty common. Just turn on HBO.

I am surprised that you are so naive!!

So now are we to await a ``Jewish Comedy Festival``, a ``Christian Comedy Festival`` or a ``Hindu Comedy Festival``?

Ayub - Good one! Hope you enjoyed. Wish I was there. In fact, when I lived in Toronto, I was a few minutes walk from Yuk Yuk club. I believe the comic from Chicago that you mentioned is Azhar Usman. Here are a few of Muslim comedians jokes.

Azhar`s jokes:

- I just flew in from Chicago, and boy are my arms ... confiscated. (`arms` here refers to weapons)

- Take my wives ... please.

- Hey, what do Muslim terrorists and Muslim comics have in common? They bomb.

Shazia Mirza`s Jokes:

- People ask me, `Do women really have to walk five steps behind the men?` I say, `Yeah, they look better from behind.`

- On the long garments worn by traditional Muslim women. ``I think they`re great. You don`t have to diet. My grandmother says she`s religious. She`s not – she`s just fat.``

Rasul Somji`s jokes

- I received a Christmas gift from my Christian girlfriend. And being Muslim, I gave her a hostage.

- We`ve made a lot of progress towards ending racism in America. But we`ve been hearing about it for decades. A black man says he can never get a fair trial in America. But Arabs and Muslims say they can`t even get a trial.

- I`m worried they`re going to put race and religion on driver`s licenses. ... So when I get pulled over ... I get two tickets!

ahmed ahmed`s jokes

In his routine, Egyptian-born Ahmed Ahmed lamented that ``it`s a bad time to be named Ahmed.`` Once, the 33-year-old comedian from California joked, a ticket agent was skeptical about his occupation. ``Oh, you`re a comedian,``` the agent purportedly said. ```Say something funny.```

Pause.

``Ah-h-h . . . I just graduated from flight school?``
