Be pragmatic....before allocating so much to MOST, would it not be better to improve the education sector in our country which despite all the reforms lacks zip and bite. I agree with you that S&T is very important but for an uneducation lot like us, it would not snear in benefits as it will when we have an educated society.

an uncommonly admirable `Bazari` article........indeed a ten point plea for -- Growing Lotuses in the Mud of Dictatorship.
.....hopefully between -- a Bazari Banker -- and a Bazari General -- Pakistan can achieve all ten points of free market spirit and innovative enterpreneurship -- without bothering with the encumbering unwieldly unnecessary trappings of a Democratic governance.....

Educating the schooled,
here is another pakistani schooled to write in english. Take it from me, my dear pakistani, the policies do not emerge in a vacuum. It is mere ly a reflection of the values of the society. Take the case of omar the editor of dawn, when I askd him about has he written anything about adus salam, all that he could say was he wrote an article when abdus salam died.
Has this great editor otor for that matter his paper ever cared to [promote the achievements of abdus salam, never. I have been reading dawn and pak news papaers for some time, and the only place where abdus salams name is mentioned is only in the letter to editors.
No pakistani, including you will ever dare to mention abdus salam, because metioning and honoring him is an expression of a social value of the importance of education.
Athar, first the pakistanis should have the courage to honour abdus salam, that is honoring science and technology, and only then can you have S and T policy. Pakistan honour shahjeeds, there is shaheed foundations every where, there are shaheed buildings and it is this expression the social value that is being recognised oin quanranamo bay, the highest number are from pakistan.
To the editors of pakistan, i have copied an front page story. In the dawn, killings by the ``freedom fighters`` make the front page story. The omar quiraishi`s of pakistan will never learn anything from their interactions on chowk, they are the children of TNT, the products of k for kafir education.
Background no bar: Rickshawpuller`s girl clears PMT
Sarita Kaushik
Nagpur, June 29
Her father is a rickshaw-puller. Her mother is a domestic servant. One of her brothers is a driver, the other mends punctures. They live in a slum cluster in Nagpur`s otherwise upper crust Ramdaspeth locality. But Vaishali Wankhede has just done something that might help her — and her family — move out. She has passed the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) with 86 per cent marks and is on her way to becoming a doctor.
She says she couldn`t have done it without her mother Maya. She invested time and effort in her daughter`s education, believing that it is very important for a woman to be financially independent. Vaishali repaid her with hard work.
Now various organisations and individuals are coming forward to help her further her career. Vaishali hopes she will be able to help the poor when she becomes a doctor, but she`s already scripted an inspiring story for anyone fighting the odds.
