Interesting....
Equating adaptation to Evolution.....
and then tieing it up with One Faith.....
Hmmmmmmmm...........
Because you a mutant strain of bacteria (caused by a little flippity flop in the transcription-translation process) got all the resources of your body to itself. Now the mutant strain of bacteria has grown and you are sick again. So go again to the doctor and hopefully this time he`ll give you an antibiotic to get rid of this new strain of bacteria.
then by a very very very far fetched imagination...... If this process is allowed...
to continue..... Again by a very very far fetched.....imagination....
then some New Mutant.... something should evolve.... right.... may be in a Million
years....!!!!! of course with repeated process...with doctors pill.... failing a number to time
and giving the mutant ....enough time to ..... to ADAPT.... to the new enviroment...
Forgive me ......But it has nothing to do with My Faith.... not to say its already
Blind.....
Or Maybe My Brain has not evolved.....so to speak.....and i am a different species...
then the Poster.....

Addressed to those who block their minds due to blind faith,
If you cannot understand the principal of punctuated equilibrium. Then stop living. Stop going to the doctor and using antibiotics. Stop observing nature. Stop looking at the way humans appear to be today. All of these acts involve a belief in evolution. Why do you take antibiotics for the prescribed time period even after you feel better? So you wipe out the bacteria completely from your system...and then why do you get sick again? Because you a mutant strain of bacteria (caused by a little flippity flop in the transcription-translation process) got all the resources of your body to itself. Now the mutant strain of bacteria has grown and you are sick again. So go again to the doctor and hopefully this time he`ll give you an antibiotic to get rid of this new strain of bacteria. Can you follow that example? Well then you can follow evolution. That bacteria has the same genetic code as you do, it also has the same purines and pyramidines in it`s DNA. It has the same 20 amino acids (Well not all of them) as you do. So if the bacteria can change because of a little flippity flop in transcription and translation. Then what`s stopping us humans from aquiring little mutations which reign supreme if they are favorable to our environments.
Evolution is a very long process. Humanity is but a twig on the tree of life. (That is the common metaphor to describe evolution and life)...Now to the second topic of observing nature...Darwin himself went to the galapagos and saw a variety of finches. Each perfectly adapted to it`s environment. It`s almost holy the way the finch`s beak is perfect to break into a hard nutshell, or how perfectly narrow it is to pick up a sliver of seed. Just because I said Darwin does not mean that only Darwin provides evidence of speciation. It`s happened with humans too. Look at the nostrils of Africans, to provide better flow of cool oxygen (a european nose wouldn`t cool someone in the hot african sun). The examples are endless. I`m sure atleast a few of those 8000 bull shit websites provided you with atleast a little inkling of the true essense of PUNCTUATED equilibrium.
Do your research buddy. Please tell me you don`t write term papers using google as a reference guide. (tear in my eye)

that Deepak Chokraa -- son of an eminent cardiologist -- himself a successful Board Certified Internist and Endocrinologist -- turned from a respected MD -- into a disreputable Spiritual Snake Oil salesman.....
.....why? -- because of 3 Ms -- Money -- Mid-Life Crisis -- and Mumbo Jumbo la Indiene Rishi-Muni...
ah that -- Mid Life Crisis -- called also the Male Menopause -- where the racing raging -- intuitive hallucinatory -- Right Brain -- finally overpowers and leaves far behind -- the analytical calculating -- Left Brain.....to bite the dust
......but that Mid-life Crisis.....is definitely a big time Money Maker for intellectually sharp knived and sharp penned people....
.....it made Salman Rushdie a millionaire overnight with HIS Snake Oil -- the Satanic Verses -- for Western consumption -- and it`s making Deepak Chopra a multi-multi-millionaire....selling his spiritual Snake Oil -- as Soul Oil for the gullible naive -- rich white men and women souls -- all over the world..
......and why not

Yes.... and it reconfirmed my belief in the falseness of Darwin`s theory.....
because a mere two clicks of mouse on the links mentioned in the article....
would have evolved you in darwin`s sense ......

You were going so well! I am listing Deepak Chopra`s seven laws and their steps below. There may be nothing in them but three weeks seems too short a time frame to practice and judge them!
1) Law of Karma
Witness Choices in each moment
Evaluate Consequences of your choices
Listen with your Heart -ask your heart for guidance -
2) Law of least effort
Practise Acceptance
Take Responsibility for actions
Have your awareness in Defenselessness
3) Law of Giving and Receiving
Give something to everyone you meet eg. not necessarily money,
Be open to receive from others.
Make commitment to Circulate, caring, appreciating and loving
4) Pure Potentiality
Practise Silent Meditation -
Commune With Nature - appreciate the beauty
Practise Non-Judgement -
5) Law of Intention and desire
Present Moment Awareness
List Desires
Release your desires to the Universe
6) Law of detachment
Commit self to Detached Involvement
Wisdom of Uncertainty leads to freedom
Open to Infinite Possibilities of choices and outcomes
7) Law of Dharma
Discover the Higher Self
List Your Unique Talents
Serve Others

The reason for writing this article is to relate to the readers my personal experience with likes of Mr. Chopra. By the way, for three weeks I have also tried the methods he has proposed in his book ``Seven Laws of Spiritual Success``, without any success. So I can be confident about not `spouting` without experience.
this is priceless! Why don`t you relate your experience with other self help books as well ?
So are you saying that you have met Mr. Chopra and that he duped you? Next you will complain that you are growing older despite reading ``ageless body, timeless mind`` or one of his other books?

Thanks. I agree, that those who attack Darwin`s theory are usually the ones who have never read the original theory themselves- they have read works of theologians like William Paley (and the evolutionary theories that they propose) and are not aware of recent developments in genetics (as you have correctly pointed out). Interestingly, recently Mr. Harun Yahya has used Paley`s arguments in an Islamic context, which are more or less the same. I do not want to go in another lengthy Creationism-Evolution debate; but if anyone of you is favouring the likes of Mr. Yahya, PUHLEASE, for the love of god, please don`t attack Darwin without reading Richard Dawkins ``The Blind Watchmaker.`` Science is not about what you or I believe, it`s about things that can be verified and understood by everyone through a rational methodology.

``as for pronouncing blanket statements about spirituality, consider doing some research, or better still undertake meditative practices before spouting forth. ``

Lastly, by no means am I denying the existence of spirituality or its significance in human history. Not just MK Gandhi but Buddha, Mohammad, Zorastra, Rumi, Sachal Sarmast... the list goes on all were great spiritual people. I respect and revere these names. My problem is specifically with two things:
a. None of the above people (who can unarguably be classified as the most spiritually elevated people) proposed a `method` for spiritual elevation- how and where did this come about?
b. Looking at the corporate-spritual elevators and their lifestyles, policies- methodology of work and what they preach (including Mr. Chopra) makes me wonder- are they in the same league as Buddha or Gandhi? Or do they have some other agenda? Personally, I am inclined to believe the latter.

I agree with you that Logical Positivism is not all there is to `reality`. But let`s be clear on the facts: it is about rational approach to reality- and has no room for irrational endeavours as specified by these gurus.
I also agree with you on `not throwing the baby with the bathwater`. As I have already said while replying to #1, my problem is not with sprituality but things that these people do.

``It was concoted By the British .... as a competitor to Hitler`s theory of Aryan ``
You seem to have made the most precise and rationally conclusive argument out of all the 3000 websites (of which you have verified that 85% refute Darwin`s theory). You seem to be quite an intelligent and rational being.
So why are the retarded British and their lackeys (such as the Americans) still pumping in a lot of funding into research related to evolution? Because they fear ``Hitler`s theory of Aryan`` to corrupt the minds of men even today?
I salute you. You just reconfirmed my belief in the evolution of the (now extinct) Dodo bird into someone lame like you. You deserve extinction as well.

Mr AmericanFob
should use google to search about the facts of darwinism...
It was concoted By the British .... as a competitor to Hitler`s theory of Aryan
surpemacy.....
and it scientifically proved... wrong.... and baised....
My elementry searh of darwin`s theory yeilded more than.... 3000 site ....
with 80% and above.... objectivly refuting the Darwin`s theory.....
and I did`t even mentioned the ..... Religious sites... which refute it of course...on
religious basis....But thats a different story...
Just a few Link.... out of more then 3000 .....as samples...
http://www.tdtone.org/evolution/TDTns.htm
http://home.wxs.nl/~gkorthof/kortho28.htm
http://www.ftrbooks.net/science/darwin/not_by_chance.htm
.... etc etc... etc...
and the list goes On and On...

``All gurus have two indispensable tools at their disposal: Science and Islam. If you incidentally have some scientific knowledge of the issue at hand, the guru will always trump you using religion. ``
hehe.. Isn`t that what they call a no-lose situation? And ain`t it sooo true for every two-bit cotton-pickin` spiritual guru around!
Liked the concluding para. :-)
But a word of caution... Let`s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Logical positivism isn`t all it`s cranked up to be, and there may be a lot of truth in ancient wisdom, though not the truths as some might sell it.
Deepak Chopra caught in a `kaampurmising posiyon`? hmm... But i wonder why you`d characterize it as a scandal? I`m sure every self-respecting New Ager would agree that the body should be as free as the spirit and that sexual/spiritual energies should not be fettered to symbiotic relatinships -- or someting to that effect.
Get me my instant karma too!

The author Bilal Tanweer writes
``Deepak Chopra (recently caught in a sex-scandal with a prostitute)``
Can you give me some references or evidence of this issue?
Thanks.
#2 Posted by warpster on June 29, 2004 10:17:45 pm
deepak chopra isnt quite in the same league as some of the others you describe. He comes across rather well in this critical interview. He doesnt, as far as I know, claim to be some godman; more of a wiseguy.
http://www.trancenet.org/chopra/interview/index.shtml
and, for your info, the prostitute allegation was retracted and $1 million in compensation was paid to DC. Who knows? They may request the particular sentence to be removed from this article ?
--
A 1996 article in The Weekly Standard published the claim of a prostitute that Chopra had patronized her in 1991. Chopra filed suit against The Weekly Standard after the prostitute retracted her assertion, leading the magazine to publish an apology and pay Chopra`s estimated $1 million in legal fees (Newsweek, October 20, 1997, p. 56; Los Angeles Times, September 7, 1997).
--
as for pronouncing blanket statements about spirituality, consider doing some research, or better still undertake meditative practices before spouting forth. Yes, there are plenty of frauds but there are many spiritual persons who have played significant role in social reform movements (there was this person called MK Gandhi?)
even today spiritual organizations such as www.amma.org and www.artofliving.org (and perhaps many others) do a lot of very positive work in India and elsewhere.
