great writing (inspiteofspelling). japanese create elaborate shrines with plaques apologisinng to the huge blue-fin tunas they kill. is the islamic prayer hymns also addressed to the animal or is it addressed to the god?

i knew cows are hindus, else it would have been named begum or shehzadi or something.

Really good piece...
It took time for me to figure out the identity of Ranni..
Made me think of my younger brother who used to cry in his room secertly when the goat/lamb was sacrificed on Eid.

this is a dilemma that my ethical framework fails to give a definitive answer to..its much easier to push it under the rug..the story was very nicely told and the idea of examining this issue against the back drop of the girly boy was great..and it is laudable that you chose to examine such an issue which most of us probably would not have the courage to..great job

i like the way you explain a childs love affair with a cow/water buffalo that always ends up being eid gosht!!!

knowing better this eid i kept my nieces firmly away from the bakriaN, as young girls have tendencies to develop affections for the goats they feed and care for, then when comes eid they get hysterical...

could have done with a grammar check and a proof read, tho in general a good read...

It seems to me that the respected author has a gift for story writing. It was a very smooth and fluid reading.

The insensitiveness and the masochism prevalent in some humans today is almost unbearable.

The poor girl was not the one butchered like an animal... the people who butchered her were animals.

The girly boy turned more into a wimp than he would ever realise..

Kind regards.
