A Potohari proverb comes to mind after reading this article, which goes like this:
A man asks a one eyed woman for water ``mausi kaani, mausi kaani paani de (hey one eyed woman! give me water)``
The woman replies ``putar tainday mooNh ni iss shirini te maiN tuhaN sharbat pilasaaN (Son!you are such a sweet-talker, I will give you cold drink instead).
Sometimes it amazes me and makes me wonder why every Hindu I come across is an acutely suRiyal Hindu, probably all of them suffer from Irritable Bowl Syndrome. And every sikh I come across is an idiot. Why is that? I have never met a decent Hindu in cyber or real life. It is us who lost all the wars, it us who should be irritable. I never understand the nature of the bug up your collective ass that drives your psyche.

It seems that the Hindian`s search for POW`s circa December 26 2004 (Boxing day) is finally over. No more Hindian to be P.O.Wed again. No more Boxing to be done!
POW`s 26/12: means Picked-outof-Water.
Even under the cloud & pall of such calamities they stll perform the baniaa-bhangRRa of Luttee-tajoree. Haee raam luutt gayaa Hai raam mUr gayaa. ChamRRee laylo DUmRRee naa lo.
These distant and discarded relatives (Hindians only) are so baighairat that they always want to re-establish family-ties . Abay DukandaarO, dukaan chalaaO, Maal baycho, Paisay bUnaaO aur buchaaO pUr Pleeeease! Baahir BaithhO--aakhir drawing room/ yaa divaan khaanay meiN kyooN baithhnaa chahtay ho.
No matter how much they get pushed away , they always insist to do their Paaey-Lagoo dundoat. Abay huttt, dooor ho.! Naa-Paak brahmin.

Chowk Staff
I know that all of the work that you do for Chowk is gratituous and the only thing that drives you to do this good work is your passion for a dialogue but why you have to compromise on quality. Personally, I have always upheld the ideal of free speach and several of my protests are on record when you removed certain interacts and articles using your editorial discretion. I have never asked you to remove any interact, even from my own board, no matter how disgusting and distatsteful it was to sound minded human being.
This article is factually and contextually wrong. The contentions presented in this article are twisting of historical facts over which there is no dispute yet you have overlooked your editorial responsibilities. It could be ignored if a newbie would have committed such attrocity but unfortunately perpetrator in this case is non other but your own ``Featured Writer`` who happens to have a regular column on this website. Please save this website from becoming just another bloggers` public toilet. It is perfectly fine to ignore such things in the interact section but letting such piece of crap - excuse my language - as an article is just too much.
Chowk used to be one of the finest website on the net and your passion was contagious to many. None of the other south Asian website could match its content but that is not the case anymore. Please do not compromise quality. Save Chowk.
regards

Unlike you, I cannot apologize to any of the sikhs (and hindus), unfortunately.
Sometimes i wonder, probably the Hindus from Lucknow might be decent but I have never met a Lucknawi hindu so far. That is my last hope.

Vereesh, just out of curiousity, have you, yourself, made any efforts to track down Pakistani POWs in Indian jails. Considering the fact that Pakistan had exponentially more POWs in the 71 war than India, the chances of Pakistani POWs still in India is far higher than vice-versa.
Assuming your aim is goodwill, it would be much easier for you to first carry out detailed efforts within India to track down Pakistani POWs. It would also be much easier for you to do so, since they would in your country of citizenship. Once you have done that, and tracked them down, you will gain some credibility. And it will make future tasks, across the border, much easier.
If your aim is not goodwill, and you haven`t first made the effort to track down Pakistani POWs in India, then I can well understand, why so many people and organizations in Pakistan would reply with, ``not interested.``
If you have carried out efforts for Pakistani POWs in India, I would greatly appreciate any documentation you have to offer, on their current situation and your efforts.

?What in this article makes Urstruly and echoboom so angry?
veeresh,
By curious coincidence, I read about the Karachi guard of honor and the Union Jack just yesterday, it is mentioned here:
http://www.anp.org.pk/factsAreSacredchapter26.htm
`` It was rumoured that some Sikhs has planned to throw a bomb at Mr. Jinnah’s car while he would be on his way for the oath-taking. Soon on his arrival Mountbatten was asked whether in view of these reports he would like the programme, to go ahead as planned. Mountbatten said that that was up to the Pakistan authorities; it was entirely their show and their responsibility. He was told that Mr. Jinnah had left the decision to him. He replied that in the case his view was that since he would also be with Mr. Jinnah in the motorcade it was unlikely that the Sikhs would carry out their scheme, since that way they would not just blow up the governor general of Pakistan but also the governor general of India. The procession was thus taken out as panned and when after the ceremonies the two dignitaries arrived back Mr. Jinnah remarked to Mountbatten, “Thank God I have got you back alive”. Mountbatten immediately rejoined, “Thank God I have got you back alive”. It was in these circumstances that the country got its independence, all state power were assumed, the British were made to wind up, and the union Jack was brought own after 200 years and the Pakistan flag hoisted in its place. ``

Urstruly/01 - maybe you only end up meeting people like you? Smile a bit more, maybe.
nikki7777 - yes, 3 of them actually. Time management.
Urstruly/06 - please point out the factual errors.
Romair/08 - I am glad you asked, and the answer is yes. I have been working on this, and trails go cold, but do exist.
The ``official`` position with both Governments is that they do not hold any POWs from each other`s countries any more. However, it is a well known fact that ``enemy aliens`` and ``undesirables`` and ``unidentified`` and ``stateless persons`` are held in jails all across our countries. Maintaining the status quo is often the easiest option available. Records vanish or are destroyed or simply suffer the consequences of time in our countries. What then remains are legends.
A large part of the mess occurs because the definition of ``POW`` is very precise and accountable. There have been very strong legends about some of Pakistan`s most decorated aviation stars, declared MIA, for example.
sadna/10 - the more I dig into Punjabi history and lore, the more I realise how the whole Hindu - Muslim - Sikh thing is so amazingly mixed and inter-changeable. Maybe all Punjabis should go back in time and become Buddhists. Or better still, Parsees.
mumbaikar/11 - yes, and currently living in a shanty near Reay Road, waiting for a steamer to take them back home to Karachi.

``What in this article makes Urstruly and echoboom so angry? ``
Urstruly is always abusive in such matters. Its just his nature. He truly hates hindus/india/sikhs, I guess all things which are critical of pak and islam.

I have not seen any accusation by Pakistani government or Pakistani ex-servicemen that India is holding POWs from the 1971 war. The worst thing that a Pakistani POW could have experienced is being handed over to Bengali mobs. Surrendering to India was not a bad option. I see no motivation for India to hold Pakistani POWs from the 1971 war. On the other hand bitterness and revenge are hard motivators for Pakistan to hold Indian POWs from the 1971 war.

Veeresh-
This is a good cause and I wanna help too and I can really help as I have connections with people in Pakistan who can really dig info for you.
As I had said it before on another thread, money is the only motivating factor in this case and people in Pakistan would expect compensation.
Can you write down your terms for reward and what is the minimum information you are looking for from Pakistan?
It would be preferable that the reward money is placed in an escrow with some reputable Law firm in the US. If it is already in escrow then please post that info too.
