The only shatranj kay khiladi here is US. The rest are Poorbia rickshaw wallas who in their spare time play that chess like game with pebbles on ``chessboard`` drawn on earth.
Idiots. Their competition is who can wag the tail the longest and pant hardest for scraps from the master.
If anyone is the smart guy here, it is China who knows the US` moves. The ONLY Asian power that can dare and meet US on even terms.
US today is what UK was 60 years back. History repeating itself. The regimes change the Monarchs change, Alas the jokers (India and Pak) have remained the same.

You might be right on that.
I rank Chinese higher than India when it comes to opportunistic Politics. But keep in mind that every Patriot in any country of the World is thinking on the same lines as you do.
Might is still Right......rules.

Re: # 27,
I completely agree with you. We have just started showing major growth and have a very long way to go before we can make a major impact in the world. For all the hype China is not there either. If it ever comes to a USA-China tussle (I am pretty sure it never will), then we should initially stay from the tussle and when one of them would start winning, join that side and make best out of it.

Aap Kaunse Duniya me rahtey hai?
How can India become a superpower? I don`t get it. Just by baggin more BackOffice contracts from USA?? India has only come to the level to what Indonesia and Malasia were 20 years ago byt receiving these techy labor outsourcing.
Defence: Can India match USA/NATO in next 50 yrs? Tell me how with specifics?
Space: Can India Launch a satellite that can carry their own spacecrafts?
Electricity: Can India provide unlimited flow of electricty as available to Western World?
Water: Can India Provide drinking water of Western standards to 1 billion people, how and from where, what technology?
Patents and Intellectual rights: Every single person who matters in India, at one pt or another came to USA or Western world to learn in their educational establishments.
Dear friend: When you talk about USA, you are talking about the whole might of Western World`s alliances not just one country.
I am not trying to diminish India`s acheivements but rather brings facts on the table.
I love India and am a patriotic Indian, but I don`t like to be a blind patriot. India does not have any capability to manufacture even a single Jet Plane that is indigneous. MIGS etc are all assembled in India. There are no facilities to support the modern Aero-space industry. It is not only money but also talent that would be needed. USA controls pretty much anything that matters for any nation to come even close to competition. There is more knowledge and research about India and rest of the world in Boston alone than in India out together.
These guys are not idiots, they are ruling the world not because of arrogance or raw muscle but a very deep understanding of current affairs.

Shatranj kaa Khail: Siyasat
Siyasat
Iss khail meiN taa-eUn e maratib hai zarooree
Shatir kee inayat sey toO farzeeN, meiN pyada
Pyaada toa hai ikk mohra-e naacheeZ v`g`rnaa
FarzeeN sey bhhee poasheeda hai, shatir ka iradaa
Politics
Essential it is, in this game; establishment of the pecking-order.
I , be a pawn., you a rook, that`s what the player established.
The pawn , an insignificant, a lowly piece that it is,
Even the rook is not aware of the next move by the player.
ALLAMA Mohammed Iqbal.

The UK is worse off than India, except for the fact that they are the beneficiary of American largesse both for strategic and historic reasons.TATA Motors refused to buy MGRover last year and this month China Brilliance pissed on them , leaving 5000 workers on the dole.I guess Blair will then run to Uncle Sam for some money to pay the dole as there`s none in the UK.All there is, is owned by the Saudis and their proxies.India is a serious player in the world economy and recognised by all for it except by indian punjabis living abroad .They who have low self esteem, think the grass is greener on the other side, bemoan the fact that they`re cleaning toilets for white people at minimum wage levels and long hours while their compatriots in india are leading comfortable lives, enjoying all the comforts without having to sell the family farm and dignity.I do understand your angst and frustration. But, why club India with pak??.
P.S...The only car that MG Rover can now sell is the `CityRover`` a rebadged TATA Indica hatch. And, that`s if TATA is willing to supply them. All existing Rover dealerships will have to shut shop if TATA Motors doesn`t supply them. What comes around goes around.

delhiwala: Far be it for me to claim that Zia was beyond contemplating the possibilities of fishing for money with hundreds of millions (not billions btw, as you put it) passing from the US and Saudi thru the ISI-controlled pipeline to afghans. However, from all indications (available literature on the war, plus my own personal recollection of the concerns expressed in pakistani newspapers and other sources at the time), the possibility of the Soviet Union continuing its march through Afghanistan into Pakistan was considered a clear threat as well by all concerned (the US as well as the Pakistan governments). A favorite phrase that Zia was to ``keep the pot from coming to a boil``, i.e. to keep up the pressure on the Soviets to get out of Afghanistan, but to not go too far in provoking the soviets into actually attacking Pakistan.
There was also another factor that made this a real threat - since Czarist days there had been talk of Russians seeking a warm water port to the south. And in the 1970`s early 1980`s the Soviets were still considered an expansionary regime, with blue navy ambitions to confront the US on the high seas worldwide (something similar to Chinese ambitions today). All that has disappeared with the collapse of the Soviet Union, and does seem unbelievable today given that the Russian blue navy is now basically scrap metal sitting at Odessa and other places and Admiral Gorchkov (?) the architect of the soviet naval ambitions in the 1960`s who used to come on the cover of magazines like Time is now forgotten. But tahmed has the memory of an elephant and still remembers... ;-)

#27,
I am from a very Posh south Delhi Colony, where one 2000 SqFt apartment cost $1 Million.
Hwoever, I still do not have 24/7/365 electricity nor Water. NDMC`s supply runs only between 4-6AM and 5-7PM. Illegal Tullu pumps don`t count.
Besides, for the sake of argument let us say a person living in inside the inner Ring Road circle has everything that he needs. How many such persons are there? Compute the Percentage of the India`s population.
No offense, but India`s Per Capita income is still $3800 from $3200, 10 yrs ago. Whereas USA`s is close to $40,000.
I have seen a Poor Muslim woman marrying her 12 yr daughter to a 50 yr old man as his 4th wife near Zahirabad in AP.
I have seen a poor Bihari selling his sister to a Sikh Jutt Jamindar as his wife for 20,000 RS in Punjab.
Problem with educated people in India is that they think that represent India completely without thinking about rest of the 80% living in Villages.

Thanks for the correction.
I always thought that Afghan War was more an Opportunistic War than a Political one. Clearly Religous Ulemma were supportive of it against Kafir Russians and my delhi`s St Stephens educated Zia Saheb became a Ghazi.

in total it was in fact more than $2b. i was thinking annual flows - which I think maxed at around $500 million in 1982. Much of this was provided in kind (303`s, light arms from china, egypt, pakistan munitions, mules from tennessee, stingers from california, and so on). So, despite bad intentions, chances for making money were much more limited.

32: Uncle GUnpathee-Rai32
Could you please retrieve some figures from your huge ears regarding the atrocities and heinous crimes committed by the grand-Uncle during last 250 years.
In case you are unable to utter a single word against the Daddy of Haraamzaadays and Ghulaamzaadays you risk losing credibility.
Say it, and redeem yourself. Everyone here seems to be overwhelmed by your GUnpattee( Abu-Ganesh ) memory.
As for intelligence, their silence is eloquent.

Echoboom: Why can`t a Man be what he wants to?
Tahmed has said nothing wrong so far that I can see. He is an introvert, Siyana-Beeba type, most likely a Lahori.
I agree about the atrocities that USA and West has committed they have had bad blood on their hands, no doubt about it. But then this World is an evil place and nobody is perfect.
Of all the nations that are present right now, North-America is probably the best place to live if a HumanBeing wants freedom of expression.
