Farzana:
*Applause*. No one should be made to prove anything.
Sania’s apologetic stance on the clothing issue resembles what several Pakistani musicians have stated regarding them making good music. Abrar once apologetically said that though his deceased mother wouldn’t have liked what he’s doing, if she saw that he was using the money to build a hospital, she may not have minded. Najam Sheraz found it necessary to sing religious songs to perhaps offset his guilt over singing popular music. Junaid Jamshed, who emerged as an inspiration to many neo-conservatives, too felt ashamed of music and gave it up…only to sing again (releasing an excellent album)…then gave up again…and again.

As far as Khans of bollywood are concerned they are not any good role models for any body or any religious group. They are just running arround the Radhas like Kanha and instead of Baldau , Daud is there elder brother and pulling their strings.
Any business man like Azim Premji, Tata, Birla etc are not product of any religious group, they are product of the society in which they do business. They can`t exist in a vaccum. There fore any religios group can not take the credit.
Dear Farzana, when you will start writing about the poor, helpless, suffering people. Because other wise you will end up like Allam Iqbal, who after writing poetry started writing religious poetry. If you wan`t to go on this path I will give you a couplet of Iqbal
Rahe ga Ravi-o-Nile-o-ufrat mein kab tak
Tear safina to hai, behar-e-bekran ke liye.

The chennai woman who married Muralitharan was also quite explanatory about her marriage. She had to do a lot of explaining about it.I was on a business trip to Chennai around that time and read articles in local newspapers about the circumstances surrounding her marriage. This article is in very bad taste and is so low, it beats even the minimal requirements of human decency and acceptable norms of behaviour. This article`s aim is to hit below the belt and succeeds. It is a shame.

1. When you make someone answerable for their natural identity, then you don’t even bother to seek answers
2.I have a small challenge for my friends here who believe it is imperative to question Indian Muslims on every Islamic issue
3.The ones who need to break away from the stereotypes are others. The young woman who married a Pakistani cricketer has said in every interview about how patriotic her family is. Did you hear any such declaration from the Tamilian lady who married a Sri Lankan cricketer?
I am at a loss in understaing above issues raised by the author.
When we are living in a society we are answrable to the society. The laws, social norms force an individual or for that reason a group of individuals to follow the rules of the society. Then the issue may be an individual may think the rules are just or unjust.
Indian Muslims need to be questioned on Islamic issues. Because Indian Muslims want to maintain a seprate idenitity. They want exceptions to rules be created for them in a democratic society. based on their religion. In democracy if any such exceptions are to be made then you can only ensure re evaluating the validity of such exceptions.
As far as stero types are concerned, we make stero types so that we can group people with similar chacterstics. I am not justifying sterotyping. Worst stereo types in indian sub continent are Brahmin stereotype, Bania Stereotype etc. Muslim stero type are the results of Muslim`s them selves. If you flaunt your Dag-e-Sijda like a phalic symbol then what else do you expect. Remember Allama Iqbal doing this
Bas ek Dag-e-Sijda meri kaynat,
Zabeen-e tere aastany tere

Recently, the Parsi Housing Society won a decision from the Supreme Court allowing them to continue the process of disallowing non-parsees to purchase property in their housing societies. The courts said it is their right to choose who they live with.Same for hindus of all denominations, muslims and christians then.Does it make parsi indians less indian?.I don`t think do.The parsi community in india is as nationalistic as any other indian group.India is like a housing colony. Each family has its` own house and yard and it`s right to privacy and the pursuit of its` own happiness.Yet all the houses belong to a colony and everyone is responsible for the common good of that colony. That`s more than enough for our country to thrive and prosper.Let all of us indians, whither Hindu, Muslim, Jain,Sikh, Christian, Parsi,Jew, Atheist or Other be steadfast in our faith or beliefs , our loyalty to our nation and our community. No one can break us then.We are doing just that.Thank you.Manmohan Singh was chosen to represent Asia at the accord signing with Africa at Bandung. He along with China`s Hu Jintao and Indonesia`s Yudhyono were the three who were asked to walk ahead of the other leaders at this conference. If we indians weren`t united will the world accord us the respect we are due?.I think not.Let all the jealous, petty , disgruntled low-lifes who envy us indians kvetch and fume.We will carry on undeterred. Sania can be what she wants to be and say what she wants to say.She is an indian just like the rest of us!!!.All indians, hip or hop, rich or poor, urban or rural will respect her for her achievements.Just like Narain karthikeyan, the first indian to enter the professinoal F-1 circuits.
To understand how diverse india is......The Rabbinate of Israel has recognized the 6000 strong Bnei Manshe community of jews in Mizoram and Manipur as part of the jewish fold. They claim descendancy from the times when the Assyrians invaded Israel in 8 B.C.They will probably move to israel, but they will not forget their indian roots, one more cog in india`s efforts to build a network of people of indian origin who will do their part to further india`s interests in the world.

We in India are still backward in our thinking, after all we are a race, all religions included who have lived on superstition, myths, prejudices about others, and resisitance to change for the better, well over a couple of centuries.
Yet this land has also produced some of the best minds, ancient civilizations that would leave many a foreign traveller in wonder, deep insights into mathematics, science and much more.
We are a very young nation, with a long way to go. I do hope that a day comes, when we can look at each other without prejudice of religion, caste, creed, language and social status. I am confident, because even though the old order exists, there is an emerging ever growing number of people who want change and challenge old prejudices and beliefs.
