rshridhar,
I think Amit`s a good chap, but he lives in a dreamworld. I have no problem with that, but I have a big problem with his generalisation like southies are dark, northies are like pakistanis etc. That is very irritating, and would like to point out that a lot of southies are not dark (nothing wrong with being dark) and that a lot of northies don`t think they are like pakistanis.
About this bhai-bhainess that he seems to profess with Pakistanis, such people have always been around and things haven`t changed much between Ind/Pak.

Ajeya,
Nice post to that mullah echoboom.
Echoboom...are you living in Pakistan or the West? If you are such a loud mouth, please let us know at least that much about yourself. If echoboom does`nt read posts of names that sound like hindu kanjars, can anybody on Chowk answer that question?
I`m in the mooood to hold a flame of a Bic lighter to that bloody mullah`s prepuce...

Godot:
Thank you for making a million dollar point. This board has been raided by some ambitious men who are bent upon tooting their own horns. Good for them! Male self confidence in an asset and must be appreciated.
On a lighter note: Indians on Chowk shouldn`t envy Pakistanis (men, in particular) in any way or shape. When the thought process is so ``ae`vae`een (meaning very light)`` and the temperament is so horrible then who gives a damn whether you are Rock Hudson or Gungoo Taelee :)

Re: #441 by echoboom
echoboom,
There was a TV program called “Connections”. It was a very interesting program. It showed how everything in the World is connected.
For example, the computer I’m typing on, and the Intel Corporation, and the Indian who developed the chip in that computer, and the Indian schoolteacher who taught him in high school, and the Amecican medicine that saved that teacher’s life once, and the American that developed that medicine – who happened to be related to the founder of Intel corporation – everything is connected.
I just made that up to give you an example.
Your post reminded me of that. How you, an Islamic moralist, who probably wants ultra-conservative Islamic laws to be enforced, have common interests with some of Bush’s Republicans who are ultra-conservative, who, just like you, hate the Left because they are liberals, when the Left in America hates Bush because he is fighting the Islamists, and the Islamists like you hate the liberal ideas of the Left.
What a tangled web we weave.
And another thing that seemed to stand out was your hatred for the West. How much hatred you have! You seem to belong to that group of people who feel that the “immoral” Americans are out to get you, your religion, your civilization, and change your women into wanton sluts.
You could not be any more wrong. There is no conspiracy.
I have lived in this country for many years now. I have known many Americans very closely. Believe me, echoboom, these are GOOD people. Whatever racism they had at one time has disappeared to a great extent from the majority of the population. Whatever remains in the very few – is disappearing every day. And when you see posts by ali_1 and Amit, you realize how human and universal this kind of weakness is.
Most Americans don’t even realize what goes on in the world. They are just like anybody else, engrossed in their own coccoons, with mortgages to pay and credit card debts. They look to their government for protection, just like anybody else.
And their actual life is much harder that the average middle-class Indian or Pakistani. Because they have made the rules hard for themselves. It is a very lonely country. The price these people pay for personal independence is very high. Our parents always have and will have their children and grandchildren around them. They don’t. At least, not like us. Most of them are destined to die lonely in an old people’s home somewhere. I have met MANY such people. I remember I used to go to the jacuzzi, and an old man would sometimes be sitting on a chair next to the jacuzzi. Just looking for someone to talk to. It is terrifying.
Yes, there are exceptions to this. MANY exceptions. But this is the rule. They do not have the community feeling they used to have once. Society’s breaking up. Children are getting low grades. But parents cannot force their children to study. Teachers cannot discipline the students. They give drugs to little kids to numb the nervous system and keep them under control. They call it ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. WE never saw anything like that growing up. And you cannot blame the poor kid for being inattentive – at that tender age he has a host of problems. Maybe his mother is a single mother sleeping around with a different guy every month. Maybe his dad is like that. Maybe it’ssomething else. It is heart-rending.
Get rid of your hatred, echoboom. There is no grand conspiracy against anybody. It’s just human greed. That’s all.
Life is so short. If in this short journey you can make someone else’s life better, do it. You do not have to fight me, honourable or not. Or anybody else for that matter. Do not listen to theories, religious or political or anything else that teaches you to hate someone else.
Life is precious. Avoid wars. And be happy.

Re:rsridhar#449
When I came to the US for my grad school 17 years back, I was living in NY and later Indiana. In both the places, I made a lot of friends from Pakistan. Coming from India, I had the same negative opinion about Pakistan that Indians generally have, until I actually met and interacted with a few of them.
As I mentioned earlier, my best friend was a Lahori guy. We would get together along with some other Indo-Pak friends, share desi food, listen to Kishore Kumar, go bar hopping and chase women. I had a great time with him and others, so how can I think that they are my enemies and jihadi monsters? In fact, when I asked my friend about religious fundamentalism, he told me that in his engineering college dorm, the mullahs would show up to convert muslims into fundo muslims. Getting fed up with the constant barrage, him and his friends decided to greet the mullahs in their underwear on one day. As soon as the mullahs saw this sight, they ran away cursing him and his friends :-). So this was the kind of guy he was, a gregarious, fun loving chap. In fact, hamidm reminds me of him. It is kind of hard to be fanatical after encountering people like that.

further to #450: and if you think you are impressing anyone by writing abusive words - then you are no different than that madman I mentioned in #447.
#450 Posted by tahmed32 on May 5, 2005 1:42:47 pm
echoboom: So you claim that you use ``kanjarr`` in a good way!! ha! ha! Are these people who dont slap you in the face when you call them ``kanjar`` so stupid as to accept this explanation??

Amit`s fondness for Pakis is baffling. There is something more than meets the eye here.

filter reset time or do you enjoy readin kanjaRR & its english glossary as well.
so here it is again:( filter reset?)
and answer propperly this time:
When mullah is not a bad word, why kanjaRR is a bad word? Its is a lifestyle of their own choosing.
or do you mean to say that you have a special affection for mullah that you so lovingly call someone --a mullah?
Next time also to invite to your teaparty the arseholes, bitches, motherfuckers, fucks, along with kanjaRRs . Then and only then you will have some credibility.
Until then please keep sitting on the tuffet of Uncle Sam, for from such loins Haraamzadays & Ghulaamzadays are born.

echoboom #446 I notice they filtered out your post, but I will reply to it anyway.
So you seem to be claiming that you do around calling people ``kanjar`` to their face in real life, and DONT get slapped in the face. Who are these people: are they afraid of slapping you on the face because they are so weak they are afraid of responding to someone who abuses them?? or are they just normal people who assume you are one of those mad homeless men who stand around on street corners hurling abuses at passersby until he is taken away to the lunatic asylum??

amit #435 The abusive language these people use to intimidate those who refuse to join them in insulting Pakistanis or muslims merely demonstrates their despicable nature. We of course have individuals (like echoboom) who possess similar despicable habits.
Fortunately, such individuals dont amount to anything in real life. And they are best either ignored or shown the mirror (if you have the time to waste with them) and shown they are: ``na ghar ka na ghaat ka``.

echoboom (praising the equally brilliant ajeya): ``even if you fight me. An honourable enemy is far more desirable than a do-gooder westernised-kanjaRR. ``
Tea-time (to bring you back to reality). :-)
First: Exchanging posts on chowk is NOT the same as putting your life on the line on the battlefield. So dont confuse yourself into thinking you are some kind of a fighter. Ajeya is merely an abusive poster, and you are merely a confused poster. Nothing more. Sorry to break this to you.
Second: You need to learn the meaning of the word ``honorable``. ``Honorable`` does not mean hiding behind a nick to say words like ``kanjarr`` that you would get a slap in the face if you tried to say that in real life to anyone.
OK. Tea time is over.
