Beena,
a lovely memoir of a talented and dynamic woman. I met Saneeya at IUCN when I first came back to Pakistan, and I remember her laugh, her smile, and her hair just as you describe it, but what I remember even more was how friendly and warm she was. She really was the light of that office, making everyone laugh, sharing jokes. She would call to everyone from over their partition walls, asking their opinions on something or telling them a juicy bit of gossip. I wish I`d known her better; and even someone like me feels her loss with a strong sense of regret.

``whimsically expressed your distaste for the antics of the mullahs who attacked the Gujranwala marathon, and suggested re-naming this place Absurdistan! ``
Saneeya, you are in the company of some distinguished chowkies who wants pakistan to be renamed to reflect the reality.
Having sent its sons to kill others in afghanistan, india and the US, Pakillstan is quite fitting, better than absurdistan. Absurd is with respect to some notion of what is sensible, while pakillstan is simply a restatement of fact.

Re: # 1
Dear Jay,
I`m astounded that you would not even spare a testament of remembrance when it comes to taking pot shots at Pakistan. I`m aghast at the amount of hate that you must harbour.
