…``Some of the prominent people selected were ‘Jahil’, ‘Ganwar’, ‘Mawali’, ‘Anparh’, and ‘Gareeb’``….
Mawali Underligned:
Is Mawali is metamorphic state of the untaught ignorant poor uninformed conservative? It sounded very creepy and funny when a scene in an old film “Shiri 420” an old mother like woman in the street dialogued Raj Kapor who was playing role of a poor literate vagabond as
..Mawali..very charmingly as peole say mera bacha..ladla etc
Would be a lot more swayed if the adaption of these above states is written with the society preview.
remindes me of a funny statement:
Gareeb hoo..Baigharat nahi...
anyways Was a good read..and it has lot more potential to add or must say..ghurbat buhat ho gayi hai aur kai qism ki...

Your Jahil is indeed likeable, primarily because if you just look at him the right way, he comes across as one full of – Lihaj!
Notes:
[Jahil, a young, skinny and a tall person….]
[….he responded that he was born on 14th August 1947.]
A fifty-seven year old young man! Ah, the wonders of modern science! Or was it the magic gutter?
[Yesterday, Gareeb, jumped off from Minar-e-Pakistan and died.]
At last, no more Gareeb in the land of Minar-e-Pakistan!

Re: # 7 Hehe, coin a new term `freedom of hearing`. No? Ears too aren`t gratis always. Damn, these headphones pluggled into the egos. :)

I like this jahil fellow Khurram, he has some good insights. I wouldn’t mind having a conversation with him myself.
...``To register a complaint, it is important to have listeners first.....``
Made me think of a professor of mine from the days of undergrad. who used to unceasingly remind us that Freedom of Speech is a two way street. It takes one person to speak and another to listen and hear what is being said. Until then it’s just a farce.

Nice and simple article.
I was thinking while looking out from the bus window at all those common and not so common people in the morning. Pakistan is nobodys fault, so we should not blame the people and criticize them all the time. Mr. Jahil here is indeed a Jahil, and does not realize the real story and the remedy. The remedy, as I figured out this morning, is not to make people feel guilty, not to pressurize the politicians no matter how corrupt they are, not to keep complaining about the system but it depends only on who one judges himself or herself relative to the system he or she is living in. We ignore ourselves when we rant and rave about Pakistans terrible condition, and never have drawing room discussions ended in a reasonable solution to get things right. Don`t taunt, tease and blame others, encourage them. Chances are that the wrongdoers will eventually feel ashamed and revert to better things.
All of us were born on 14th August, 1947.. and all of us are Jahils. I think Mr. Khurram would disagree ;-)

well written.
``a blast is required to make the deaf listen`` this is what Bhagat Singh had said in the court to justify the bomb blast done by himself and B.K.Dutt in the constituent assembly. That was when we were fighting foreign agressors.Even after the so called independence how much has the situation changed for jahil, ghareeb, mawali or the so called man of the street?
One thing has sure changed-we have become more individualistic and are hardly concerned with what is happening around us.``what to me?``has been instilled deep inside us by the socio-political system.
The deaf ``aakas`` still require bangs.
