Love, lust
Carnal, spiritual
Self love, selfish love, selfless love.
``Here`s ten on lust to win and, ah, why not, 2 on love to show.``

Today`s aspiring poets, before writing on love, would benefit immensely from reading Mohammad Taqi Mir, love`s greatest poet (my opinion, but widely shared). Don`t be put off by the age of his work - it`s just as fresh, just as original, just as lovely as anything today.

You seem to really enjoy translating other people`s works

my nanijaan says do not speak the truth (in some cases)...so while adhering to her wise counsel i will admit to this only...that saturday evening i was bored silly...otherwise...am mostly preoccupied with my own trans-creative efforts

Re: # 5

Thanks temporal. You seem to really enjoy translating other people`s works :D
I must say I prefer my version tho, but nice rendition. I wouldn`t have been able to translate in urdu due to my limited vocab, so I`ll stick to english as much as possible.

Imran:

this is a not a literal translation...just an attempt:

woh lamha
tum saath hO aur yeh tanhai
tum gun’guna rahay hO
aur maiN hooN ghar’q
apnay takhayyul ki jheel maiN
maiN takta rehta hooN tasaw’woor kO t’ray
munsoob kerta hooN
t’ri baataiN t’ri ankhioN say
t’ri muskurahat say
aur shiddat say intezaar karta hoon
oos lamhay ka
jub teray rangON ki qOs o qazah
gai gay munn kay geet m’ray
aur oos lamhay
sub kuch bhool jaoon ga maiN
gar moqaa mila tujh kO
aur
teray pyar ko bhee

…enjoyed these poems in varying degrees…

perfect moment by imran khan

good lines:

I search for that moment
when the colours are pure
and the songs true
but then I wonder is it really you
or the charm of the perfect moment

weak ending

My Soulmate Asma Fikri

liked this line:

Whose silence has been your companion for an eternity

a little cheesy and soppy…some pruning could have enhanced it

The Way You Loved Me... by Niranjan Regmi

loved this:

Each time the wind blows,
I hear your voice,.

Behold by Fahd Butt

enjoyed these lines:

such a simple beauty
eloquent in silence
pure
a word not spoken but
a memory made complete

thanks all of you
