Please keep Chowkis updated on any success with your ``close encounter`` with you know who. That story is much more interesting than the article.
Thank you.

pardesi,
...... sorry to say, nothing happened as urstruly failed to show up ........... it is the story of my life - being stood up by women ......... oh well !
.......... talking about women, i am glad to see some of our jawans - and not so jawans - taking up cudgels on behalf of the fair sex (even though some of them might not be so fair) ........ but all of it, from both sides, is indicative of the generally horrible attitude desi men have towards women ....... there are two reasons for this .......
.................. first, it is the way we are raised - a lot of lip service to ``respect`` for women, while they eat chicken feet and fish tails and sit in the front of the bus ........ as a result, when we grow up, we are rather insecure and defensive when it comes to dealing with women ....... also, women encourage this behaviour by accepting their second class status in society (as determined by the men folk, religion, culture, etc.) ........ and when a woman takes umbrage at the way she is treated everyone, including women, brand her as a trouble maker and the source of fitna on earth ........ even in the drawing rooms of polite society in islamabad i have heard asma jehangir being called a kanjri .......
............. second - and i have mentioned it before - muslim men feel impotent and are angry at the world because they have been beaten in every field of human endeavor by other men ............ they walk around looking for the dog to kick, but since mohammadens do not keep dogs they end up kicking their women ....... it is as simple as that .............
........ we would not be having this tedious discussion if salim had exchanged obscenities and abuse with another man (or urstruly) ..........

this is for chowk staff, who i hope will not delete this post -- while it is good that chowk-staff have clarified what post temporal holds in the chowk scheme of things -- apparently he is a volunteer -- it seems that they (chowk-staff) take other interactors here (esp. on this board and elsewhere) for a bunch of naive children -- the fact of the matter is that by most standard mr temporal is a terrible writer, of both poetry and prose -- despite that he regularly gets published on chowk -- normally some articles appearing the same day as on his ilog (which means they sure get processed really quick -- given that ilog entries appear immediately) -- this would obviously lead most sensible and sane people to wonder that perhaps his more than friendly association with chowk staff (in the past I distinctly recall temporal speaking as if in quasi-official or official capacity in response to some queries regarding chowk policy by interactors) is the primary reason why what he writes (which mostly is drivel) gets routinely published --
the thing that interactors should try and remember is that, as the chowk staff/founders/editors themselves say, the site is run by people who do other things in their professional lives and manage this site after taking out time and for no monetary recompense (now i remember -- it was temporal who once said that the site was a `labour of love` when i had broached this issue some time back, leading me to obviously think that he was part of the chowk, albeit voluntary, team) -- which is why they are often unable to enforce their own guidelines and which is why they are unable to see through the fact that a significant proportion of their site`s interactors accuse them of overt bias with respect to certain interactors

This thread showed Temporal is petty and cheap man. Mr. Salim is not to blame for everything when there are many other (YES WOMEN) who are dirty posters.

baba jees -- dostmittar sahib -- im afraid saying that salim `hijacks` all discussion is disinformation if ever there was disinformation -- just because he doesnt agree with you or t-bhai or gives either of you the respect or veneration that you quite mistakenly think people on this site should give you, doesnt give you the right to make such sweeping (and wrong) generalizations -- shame on you

Thanks for reiterating your viewpoint.
The problem with the approach taken by chowk is that it hasn`t worked and has, indeed, been counterproductive. He is still alive and kicking at chowk, has successfully hijacked serious discussion on other topics, and seems to be convincing more and more people with his charge of unfairness against chowk. So, why not adopt veeresh`s toffee approach. I think that it would work, especially since the young man seems to crave those ``toffees``?

245 interacts for something which should have been ignored. Temporal, you have plumbed the depths with this. Godot and Salim bhais are spot on here with their critique. Forget the prepuscent sucking up led by the grand dame, this is lousy with even lousier puns. You can do better.
Dont treat Chowk as your first draft experiemental set up please. That way you insult chowkies.

I wanted to stay away from the discussion going on on this thread about abuse, insulting others etc. but seeing that blatant injustice is being done by singling out only Salim for every ill on chowk,I wanted to post my opinion as I feel, being a passive observer of injustice means practically approving it.
In the short span of time, since I have joined chowk,I have read some filthy responses from a number of interactors.Salim have been part of this but not always. He is constantly being accused of abusing female interactors y some female interacors and also some male interactors as well who claim to be the protectors of females and misters nice. Some names have been mentioned as victims of abuse at Salims`s hands, but can people answer why he has never ``abused`` many other female interactors e.g. amrita, aimie, ferzana, zeena, sadna,nb -to name a few!
Why nobody is asking saminasha also to look at her own interacts where she constantly refers to salim and anybody who interacts with him as ``namards``even without any provocation.....can there be a bigger abuse than that for a male? and this is just tip of the iceberg. Even being a practicing psychiatrist,I dont use the term ``psychopath`` for any one including my clients, because it is a very value-laden and stigmatized term and not used in any official nomenclature, but this term has been repeatedly used by Saminasha for Salim and even she posted a full article on psychopathic disorder.Salim will be well within his rights to sue her in any court for that.
I dont approve abuse of any type by any body.Let us not bring gender and our own biases based on ethnicity, religeon, language or our own personal likes and dislikes of people into it and ask all to refrain from it and stop singling somebody out.

You correctly point out the sanctimonious tone of the post, the holier than thou attitude of a petty, feeble-minded self-proclaimed “poet,” “writer,” and “whirling Dervesh.” True to his form, Mr. Sanctimonious lectures again! Look at his post #241 that translates: Send Salim to hunt in the jungle but tie both of his hands.
Salim is the clear victim in this hammam. All those who are throwing their sanctimonious rocks at him are as guilty, if not more, as Salim. However, there is one very clear and huge difference between Salim and them: Salim is far more intelligent, witty, and sharp than all of them put together.

I disagree with #241. They need not have a say here. Now come on a foul mouthed harridan like saminasha having an influence on moderator selection. Whatever next?

Back to the article . . . I liked the bit about poor Shaista pulling at Jamil early in the morning. At that young an age, getting up in the morning (and all other times . . .) is usually not difficult at all. Actually, if jack had called up and found out about the delay of three hours, it could also have been a lot of fun.
And one more thing - at a real-time real-life chowk, we do have the option of ignoring infants and idiots. Give them a toffee or three when they amuse, and ignore them when they become obnoxious, either which way eventully they will come sniffling back to apologise at regular intervals once they get to realise that toffees are better than being ignored.
However, with luck, such people are often also the sorts who grow up into excellent human beings. So, good luck, no?
