Insect in Amber

Wonderful. Loved it.

I learned a new word today - wraith!
This has the sense of classic Tamil love poems. Very nice.

I’ll hide in some tall
glass and metal building block
and unravel colourful memories
like silk-thread skeins,
embroidering blemish-free scenes
creating a mirage
with borrowings from the past
leaving reality for each tomorrow.


as i read this wonderful depiction of ‘recoiling’.. of cocooning…yet again…i wondered…about relationships…about the stages between gay abandon and undue caution…and stages in between punctuated by the rolling waves of what-ifs… about how at times despondency and fear over whelm…about the need to be brave…(same as being foolish)…to resist that urge to cocoon and face what the gods have to offer…khair…too many digressions here…may be later…

very nice. I too loved the part mentioned in #4 - the insect in the amber seems to be the youthful spirit captured forever. Personally, i would like to think of that insect as being not held still in suspended animation in amber, but as one that flies free forever like a butterfly in some eternal field of flowers.

Not to take anything away from you – and not to antagonize this chowk crowd of waah-waah-waahoos, but this one did not hit me too much!

Once upon a time, if the spouse/lover were in another country, it was a big deal – it was REAL pardesh – years would pass before one could see such individual face to face – not any more!

Certainly, it would take a lot less time NOW to do that speed-dial than write this poem! To me, that pain appears HIGHLY simulated!

Also, REAL Insects in Amber would not look pretty, or romantic to me – as seen here. Just imagine the pain and FEAR the poor insect underwent as it was killed with hot sticky stuff – and somehow, I have trouble thinking a lover – ANY lover – would undergo the same pain in the process of (say) waiting for a green card or so! (Why else would one not be with the spouse in the first place?) It just does not do it for me!

I FELT there was something suspicious about this poem when I saw Tauheed (and I mean no tauheen) like it. I should trust my antennas more!

I had admired your paintings exhibition at the Tea Centre in Mumbai. I did not have any knowledge, even from T.Balaraman, that you are also a poet.

An excellent poem with great imageries. You deserve to have a collection in a book and you had better do it.
