Deconstructing Durga

If sikhs have stood up to and punished the likes of Mughals, Abdali, and Ranghars for attacking their shrines, what did the delusional Gandhi/Centre/Congress expect? Sikh spirit may have been sleeping or misled but it is definitely not dead.

Satwant Singh was a mona sikh, yet in his heart, he had the Khalsa spirit. He avenged the misdeed of the wh ore, as sikhs have been for centuries. He followed the footsteps of Bhai Mehtab Singh and Sukha Singh, Udham Singh etc.

When the Kanjri was dispatched, we were let off at 230pm from school. Despite the curfew, news had leaked in about the henious crimes against sikhs.

A tiny minority sparsely armed with blunt and ceremonial kirpans were up against an organized plot with large mobs, police...etc. Most of the victims were poor sikhs taxi drivers wage earners etc. Despite the odds, they successfuly repulsed the mobs. Only after police took these weapons and divided these small defenders, did the mobs able to kill.

As I said, Khalsa spirit is not dead, just misled and sleeping.

Sonia realized that the Gandhis are not invincible. She does not want her kids to go the ways of their elders. so she played good politics not out of goodness of heart.

DM,

Every community has black sheep. I think Khushwant singh is sikhs`. I hold him in low esteem.

He has a knack (his priviliged and intellectual upbringing) for story telling. However, he is not a rational or critical thinker.

When did Allahabad get its current name? I believe the original name was Prayag.

Allahabad is also a big centre of indian classical music. There is a Sarojini hostel at the U which used to be full of talented (and pretty!) girls.

Biharis actually form a single largest group in IAS cadre. They are very bright, especially the ones from Ranches (Ranchi). There is a very goo public school called Netrahat, fondly called a ``Khaddar Public School`` since the students study in khaddar kurta-pajamas (none of those Ties). Their alumni is no less prominent that Doon, though they speak the thick bihari accent.

Sikhism has been under threat from Hinduism as early as the founding of Arya Samaj -Vivekanand had said some controversial remarks about Nanak. The reaction was declaration thru books and politics that sikhism was independent of Hinduism ``Hum Hindoo Nahin``......``Na hum Hindoo Na hum Musulman``.

1980s policies turned this into a nightmare and violent clash. I was a kid when this began in 1980. Lies, Lies, and more lies. The Centre was fully involved in breaking the back of sikhs. CRPS, CID, BSF and hoodlums were used to incite sikh sentiments. RSS, and Hindu orgs. were involved....

Sikh youth with high unemployment rate and dwindling land holdings turned to millitancy.

Bhindrawala was propped up and tolerated by Congress and also Akalis to harvest votes.

The trauma affects differently to individuals. I met quite a few who were personally attacked or lost family or property. Most of them came closer to the faith. They have put the trauma behind them and perseverd but have not forgotten.

The Gandhi dynasty is delusional into thinking they were invincible and they were exempt from consequences. Obviously not. Sonia does not want Rahul and her daughter to go the same way as their father and grandmother. Therefore, she is doing what she did - sikh PM and other things. It is good politics, not necessarily goodness of her heart.
What is Freedom After All?
Posted by kaurasach Oct 29, 2004 12:41 pm
ms waracih,

Lives, societies are complicated. People are slaves everywhere to their bosses, customs, norms, whims, social circles, superstitions,......

NO PERSON IS FREE in the absolute sense.

What we have is a CONFLICT of interests not freedom. You are making the mistake of confusing the two.

Western women are not free either. They have more pressures. Women in many Islamic states are worse.

There is unparallel freedom of speech in USA, but people are slaves to time/clock.

There is realtive freedom....if societies are free, all citizens would be free too...women, children, and men.

This was a bad mumble jumble of an `article`.

Benazir Bhutto: Third Time Lucky?
Posted by kaurasach Oct 28, 2004 02:07 pm
It is a big mess. Why expect or wish Benazir to be back? Pray for a good leader.

Mursharaf`s future/end is like another past Paki dictator`s. Benazir`s same as Past Paki elected leader`s is.

Need new blood who thinks in revolutionary ways.

The gossip, lore, and rumors do bind the community in time. It ties the relationships. I remember sitting on kothas (roof), in gallis, and walls of houses whose residents have long gone....yet, I had relationship with these people - i knew them thru stories, gossip, and lore of elders. These invisible people where characters that have been etched in memories of the living.

the furthest east I`ve been into UP is Moradabad.....i took train....UP is hell people were drinking water from ponds that was cloudy and pigs were bathing in it...garbage strewn on the banks.

UP is HELL....Agra does not count since it is a tourist town. But the poverty is heart wrenching even for an Indian.

INTERESTING writing!

You touched different topics and emotions. Firaq and Faiz both were good poets and they both drank...i see a relationship there. Many writers ae messed up and their lives are miserable and in contrast to the books they pen.

Same thing has happened to Chandigarh, or Amritsar.....ugly has replaced the beautiful....this is `progress` in our part of the world.

With this comment, I am going to rile up a few emotions, whenever a Hindu/Sikh marries, in the kids of these unions, mostly the Hindu comes out and the sikh in them remains regressive. Bachan/Teji union had the same effect....and other examples I`ve noticed in life.

``What sickens me is that no one denounces or deplores the deaths of those civilians``

On the same note, what baffles the rest of the world why muslims are mute during the Darfur Carnage.....why they have not denounced the civillian beheadings?......This is also Hypocrisy.

You can`t blame the laborers. People take risk all the time to support their families....everyone has stomachs to fill.

My personal take on this is ``Maati kudam karendi yaar...`` what goes around, comes around.....for Americans as well as muslims/Iraqis........karma continues

Democracy!

In India, it has always been rewarding to be criminal. Look how far the criminals like Nehru, Gandhi, Kanjri (aka Indira) went....Indians are the worst phudus who elect these criminals....and then they wonder why the condition of India is such....

Kalyug is here, (in India Kalyug has been around for 2000yrs.). Qayamat is around the corner....and I am preparing to take Sanyas....I can not take it anymore.

Before I take sanyas, I want to sing the Indian National Anthem......

``Saaray Jahan say Ganda......Gulamistan Tumahara,
Tum hijray ho iskay....woh Kanjarghat Tumahara.
