The Mystic Masseur
In US, the clergy after hundreds of repeated molestations get away by reaching `agreement` and `settlements`.
Mullahs exploit women, money with impunity.
Pandits are equally notorious.
Bhais (sikh equivalent of pandits) also get away with illegal activities. Murders and rapes are common at `deras`.
And all this hoopla over ONE murder. I think it is a POLITICAL intrigue. A tamasha. Don`t expect any conviction soon.
one word describes all this - kanjarpana.

The Real Blasphemy
One can debate his handling of the subject matter.
Islam, mohmad, and muslims are not above criticism.
Atheists and leftists have dragged Christ thru much worse mud...there was hue and cry, but no violence.
also, there are many websites and works out there that depicts Islam/muslims worse.

It doesn`t mean that one succumbs in the face of threat. Using your logic, the morroccon shouldn`t have murdered.....didnt he expect mosque burning and changing of liberties in Dutch......or was did he think he protected by Hudood laws.

How interesting use of words. It wasn`t a MUSLIM who knifed but a ``Dutchman``.
Mal Treatment of women in muslim states is less blassphemous than a film that brings to light this malice.
Dutch are liberal in their criticism of religion including Christanity. They value treatment of women free speech etc. above religious dogma.
Muslims did not expect the reprisals. They expect to dictate their norms in host countries.
The liberal Dutch woke up to the reality and potential threat. Soon, there will be neo Nazis and other backlashes mushrooming.
This is what `clash of civilizations` entails......
The plot thickens.......

The Troubled History of Jews
The Jew (Christ) wanted to reform stagnant jewish society - simmilar to Nank`s attempts at reforms in Indian subcontinent.
Both attempts of reform were shunned by the majority (religious blind) and went on to become separate religions due to circumstances.

He writes about the miserable condition of Paki girls (UK) who go thru simmilar experience as Hirsi went thru. Writers are not afraid these days to openly voice their criticism of Islam/muslims. So, the fanatics` plan of terrorizing people into silence backfired.
Like the muslims say American bombing produces more terrorists, simmilarly, Islamic terror will fuel more anti Islamic reprisals, as happened after the murder.
There was discussion on this on Radio Shows in US.

They are remarkable people. Chased from land to land; persecuted time and again, they have somehow managed to come back from the brink of extinction. They thrived and succeeded in arts and sciences.Surrounded by enemies and living in inhospitable land, they are living exemplary lifestyle for the region.

The hatred and bigotry that many Punjabi Hindus spew is beyond comprehension. I was daily subjected by Punjabi hindu classmates to declare my mother tongue Hindi during census and to cut hair. What do you expect from me? patriotism? or alienation?
Or, Punjabi hindus who talk amongst themselves in Punjabi and switch to Hindi with me.

Punjab was dissected so that the present Punjab can safeguard its traditions. Organized prejudices and campaigns to destroy a tradition is not equivalent to individual decisions or opinions. The hatred and bigotry that many Punjabi Hindus spew is beyond comprehension. Also, it is as corrupt lucrative in most cases. That is why the position of a sarpanch is hotly contested in Punjabi villages.

Because it is natural. It has been happening since the dawn of history. Jewish tribes were forced out from one palce to another.
Greed makes people mad. Easy money. Most people killed for money gold land house etc.
Things got out of hand on a large scale. Revenge, religious fantacism, was the other fuel that added to fire.
It was done in the name of religion. It is easier to kill someone as a kafir or a muslim. You don`t have any moral burden to prove anything. Religion is a good way to legitimize any crime.

As Gill`s narration, yours is applaudingly devoid of judgemental fervor also. That makes it a better read.
1. We have Punjabi Hindu friends who voluntarily wore turban and are mistaken for sikhs. He is a Sharma. His brother also wore a turban out of necessity during 80s turmoil.
2. Your neighbor`s radio reminded me of my daadi who was proud that she got ``grammo phone`` in dowry in 1920s. Her father was a rich man and one on very few who could afford one.
3. Roof top sleeping. What a wonderful experience. I remeber counting stars.
4. Your father`s unflinching faith in the Gurus was the more of many elders of that generation who believed with deep faith at the protection that Gurus provided.
5. You were lucky that you survived without loss to family. Many could not bear the loss, and were scarred for life.
6. It seems most refugees surmounted the trauma with accomplishments in life. You and Gill are an example.
7. I remember the people who were called `refugees` who migrated penniless now own the land and houses my wealthy forefathers owned.
